LeBron James Considers Himself The GOAT After 2016 Chip Win, NBA Twitter Debates

Los Angeles premiere of 'Smallfoot'

Source: Apega/WENN.com / WENN

LeBron James is still very much an active player in the NBA and is currently doing his best to corral a young Los Angeles Lakers team to greatness. In a recent chat, the future Hall of Fame star declared himself the greatest to ever play the game as a result of his championship win with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.

During a recent airing of his docu-series More Than An Athlete on ESPN+, James harkened back to his Cleveland days where his team then faced off against the talent-stacked Golden State Warriors. The Cavaliers, with James leading the charge, became the first team to come from behind after being 3-0 to win it all in epic fashion. For that feat, James, who is normally humble about such matters, allowed himself a moment to gloat and bask in his basketball glory.

It’s tough to argue considering James’ numbers and the fact that in his 16th year in the NBA, he’s still very much a threat on the court.

As one can imagine, NBA and basketball Twitter had their own thoughts about James’ assertion, and we’ve collected the bulk of those responses below.

Too Easy: Floyd Mayweather Stops Japanese Kickboxer In Struggle Bout, Twitter Not Amused

Flyod Mayweather v Tenshin Nasukawa - RIZIN.14

Source: Hiroki Watanabe / Getty

Floyd Mayweather retired as one of the best boxers to ever live, so it begs the question of why he’s still entering the ring at 42 years of age? In a New Year’s Eve exhibition bout against a rising Japanese kickboxing star, Money Mayweather emerged triumphant against the 20-year-old Tenshin Nasukawa, but Twitter wasn’t all that amused.

According to the Bloody Elbow outlet, Mayweather claims he made $9 million for the fighting against Nasukawa, which was scheduled for three rounds at three minutes apiece. After dropping Nasukawa three times in the first round, the kickboxer’s team threw in the towel and Mayweather raised his gloves in a victory. In the strict, boxing-only rules set forth, Nasukawa faced a $5 million fine if he threw a kick inside the ring.

Despite the win, Mayweather says that he’s not returning to boxing and showed respect towards Nasukawa, as he typically does after fights against his opponents. Some in the combat sports world had hoped Mayweather would lock up against Conor McGregor, who he defeated in a boxing match, but this time going to the mixed martial arts side of things.

Fans and critics alike on Twitter had plenty to see about the Mayweather vs. Nasukawa bout and we’ve collected some of the responses below.

Bird Watching: Porn Star Exposes Trey Songz AND Zach Brown, Twitter Lets Jokes Fly

Kevin Hart Birthday at Drais

Source: Judy Eddy/WENN.com / WENN

Hey, HHW massive an’ crew, this one is a doozy with a lot of moving parts so we’ll take it slow. A porn star who was allegedly connected to the very boo’d up Trey Songz exposed the nature of their relationship via Twitter, and in the midst threw a Washington Professional Football Team player under the bus as well.

Brittney Jones, a popular amateur porn actress, and social media figure put out a bulk of the information after the news went out that Songz is dating Lori Harvey, the daughter of Steve Harvey. Apparently, Songz and Harvey have been together for a year, which came as a shock to some and it seemingly prompted Jones to speak up once more Friday (Dec. 28) after initially bringing up the fact she pulled Songz last week.

Jones shared a series of salacious direct message exchanges between her and Songz, clearing trying to establish that their connection was more than fleeting. Even as fans tried to allege that Jones faked the messages, she went the extra mile to prove otherwise. And for reasons nobody with good sense can figure, Jones threw up a DM exchange between her and Brown in where he’s trying to put down some money for sex, with Jones saying athletes are better in bed than R&B singers.

If that wasn’t enough, she says that she’s allegedly carrying Songz’s unborn child, although the post that shared the ultrasound picture was removed from Instagram. Some might also remember Jones as the woman who was arrested for performing sexual acts with a man inside a Florida courthouse.

Songz seemed to address the matter lightly on his Twitter page but kept it moving.

We’re going to post some of Jones’ tweets below but we would like to warn readers that her timeline has a lot of, ahem, interesting content not fit for sensitive eyes.

The reactions online have been going crazy as expected and we’ve collected some of them below.

It goes without saying that Michael Jordan might just be the best basketball player to ever live, and he certainly transformed the game while boosting it to global heights. ESPN debuted a new trailer for an upcoming docu-series about His Airness and Twitter fans are already chomping at the bit.

According to an earlier report from Deadline, the series, titled The Last Dance, is a joint effort between ESPN and Netflix. The series is directed by Jason Hehir, who has worked on other docs such as The Fab Five and Andre The Giant among others. Jordan is involved heavily in the docu-series, along with other members of his Chicago Bulls team that dominated the 1990s with championship wins and overall team wizardry.

However, the series itself won’t be coming out until 2020, not next year as previously thought, and fans on Twitter are both excited and miffed at the delay. We collected some of our favorite reaction to The Last Dance and its trailer below.

Take a look at the trailer in the following clip.

Holy Hornballs: The-Dream Drops 40-Track Project About Bumping Uglies, Twitter Got Jokes

The-Dream Listening Party

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty

As the King Of R&B debates rage on for whatever reason, some of the game’s original OGs have had their say while others are content to let Jacquees and the other youngins cook. However, veteran crooner The-Dream is trying to insert himself into the conversation with a ridiculously horny triple album that has Twitter firing off all the jokes right now.

Titled, Ménage à Trois: Sextape Vol. 1, 2, 3, the 40-track, triple LP is all about doing the do. The-Dream, who last dropped a full-length in 2013, has been teasing the new project on a recent studio run. In a chat with Beats 1 on Apple Music, the artist born Terius Nash chimed in on the King Of R&B chatter, stating that he understood why Jacquees made the statement. The-Dream shared in the chat that he himself has done the same in a bid to pump himself up to do great things.

Whatever the case, The-Dream is back to show and prove where he ranks in the discussion of R&B’s king. But at 40 tracks, all with a very singular focus, Twitter has been firing off jokes to the point The-Dream became a trending topic.

The upcoming Super Bowl LIII and its halftime show have been beset with some difficulty in securing talent to perform at the big event, but reports that Travis Scott joined the set has Twitter reacting.

Fresh off the acclaim from his latest studio album Astroworld, the news that Scott will take to the Super Bowl Halftime Show stages could prove to cause a rift between him and other entertainers who have since decided not to do the show reportedly in support of Colin Kaepernick.

There is also chatter that Jay-Z is attempting to talk Cactus Jack away from doing the big show in Atlanta, although he has gained some blessings from others.

Check out the Twitter reactions of Travis Scott reportedly set to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show below.

21 Savage Drops ‘I Am > I Was’ LP, Twitter Already Hailing It A Winter Classic #21Savage

2018 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals

Source: WENN.com / WENN

After hints that 21 Savage was set to drop a follow up to his debut studio album leaked to social media, fans were lined up in anticipation for what was next. The Slaughter Gang member dropped his latest, I Am > I Was to the masses Friday (Dec. 21) and reaction on Twitter seemingly points to the fact the album is an early winter classic.

21 Savage dropped his debut LP, Issa Album, back in July 2017 and has appeared on records with Gucci Mane, Meek Mill, and Young Thug in recent times. With I Am > I Was, 21 is back to solidify his position as one of the premier rappers of his generation. With production from DJ Dahi, past collaborator Metro Boomin, FKi 1st, Cardo, TM88, Wheezy, and Kid Hazel, the production floats between bass-heavy trap to atmospheric slappers.

Features are just as varied with a scene-stealing turn from J. Cole on the opening track “A Lot,” in where the North Carolina wordsmith references Tekashi 6ix9ine and his mounting legal issues. Offset shows up for “1.5” and the City Girls bless the strip club anthem “a&t” to great effect. Schoolboy Q and Project Pat hopped on “Good Day” and Post Malone gives the help out on “All My Friends.”

Thus far, Twitter fans are giving the album a ton of praise, most especially pointing out the fact that Cole smacked his feature out the park. We’ve collected the best of the reactions and chatter below.

Twitter Remembers The Great Combat Jack On Anniversary Of Passing #CombatJackDay

Spotify Mogul launch party celebrates the life of Chris Lighty

Source: Jamie McCarthy / Getty

Reggie Ossé, better known to the world as Combat Jack, helped to bring the podcast era into the light by way of his popular The Combat Jack Show series. Today marks one year since the passing of Combat Jack from cancer complications, and the Internets, chiefly Twitter, are gathered in remembrance of the media personality.

With popular shows like The Joe Budden Podcast, The Read, and many others, The Combat Jack Show was a notable precursor to the rise of Black podcasts in general. Ossé’s influence in the industry and his accomplishments as an entertainment attorney and media power figure are well-documented, giving him an almost endless level of access to some of the biggest names in music and culture.

Beyond the show and fame, Ossé by nearly every account was one of the most approachable and humble figures of his stature. On Twitter Thursday, the hashtag #CombatJackDay has become a national trending topic with fans and supporters showing their respects for Ossé and all he did for the game.

We’ve collected some of the responses under the hashtag below.

Rest Powerfully In Peace, Combat Jack.

Propose It Up: Joe Budden Pops The Question To Cyn Santana, She Said Yes

Miami New Years Eve - Parties & People

Source: Thaddaeus McAdams / Getty

Joe Budden and girlfriend Cyn Santana have been going strong for the past two years as fans of Love & Hip Hop: New York are well aware of, and some knew that a major life moment was imminent for the pair. During Budden’s live taping of The Joe Budden Podcast with Rory and Mal, Budden got on one knee to pop the question and Santana said yes.

Listeners of the podcast know that Budden was gearing up to pop the question but there was no indication that the live show would be the place it would happen. The taping took place Wednesday night (Dec. 19) at The Town Hall in New York City and Budden, being the masterful media maven that he is, made the most of the moment.

After stating that his relationship with Santana was the best he’s ever been, he asked her if that was true for her. The pair exchanged some banter not unlike what goes on during their series before Budden decided to ramp things up by getting on one knee. Of course, Joe nearly botched the big moment by not being exactly sure where to put the ring finger but Santana got him together properly. Beautiful moment nonetheless.

Budden and Santana welcomed their son, Lexington, into the world in 2017. A wedding date wasn’t announced right then and there, naturally.

Fans on Twitter have been saluting Joe Budden and Cyn Santana since news broke and we too wish to extend our congratulations to the couple. Be sure to check out the reactions below.
