LeBron James made his return in a Los Angeles Lakers loss on Sunday. But the story was less about the result and the Lakers’ place in the standings and more about how fast he came back.

Speaking in the postgame, James revealed he tore a tendon in his right foot, which would normally require season-ending surgery. Instead of taking the surgery, James had a serious rehabilitation regiment that allowed him to return in just four weeks.

In his return against the Chicago Bulls, James had 19 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. James expects better performances in the forthcoming days.

“I had a couple of drives and the ball got away from me,” James said. “A couple of shots didn’t feel as good as before, obviously. But I was out for four weeks, so between that and the wind, just trying to get those things back leading to the final stretch of the season.”

[WATCH] Shannon Sharpe and Ja Morant’s Father Nearly Come to Blows at Lakers-Grizzlies Game

Fm L9szXoAUrO67

Shannon Sharpe, NFL Hall of Famer and co-host of Skip & Shannon: Undisputed, pulled up to Staples Center for a little Friday night basketball. Sharpe is a massive LeBron James fan and also openly admired JA Morant of the visiting Memphis Grizzlies.

Just before the teams left the court for halftime, Sharpe, in his courtside seat, could be seen involved in an altercation with everybody. The main two visibly engaged with Sharpe were Steven Adams and Ja Morant’s father, Tee Morant.

Videos of the incident show a chaotic scene with all parties involved being separated. Sharpe can be heard in various clips yelling toward Morant, “I bet you won’t.”

Referees and security separated the scene, and cooler heads prevailed. During halftime, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin caught up with Shannon Sharpe, who offered his take on the incident.

“They didn’t want this smoke, Dave,” Sharpe said. “They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said, ‘F’ me. I said, ‘F’ you back. He started to come at me and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn’t want no problems.”

Later on in the night, Sharpe and Morant would laugh off and hug out the incident.

[WATCH] Kanye West: I Can’t Be Controlled Like Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Lebron And More

Screen Shot 2022 11 12 at 8.19.43 AM

After being in the spotlight alongside NBA star Kyrie Irving for both allegedly having Anti-Semitic points of view, Kanye West lost his billionaire status as his collaborations with companies such as GAP and Adidas were terminated. Now, after almost a month of silence, West declared that he cannot be controlled like some of his celebrity colleagues, such as his old pal Jay-Z, Lebron, Shaq, Meek Mill and a host of other names that he claims are silenced by the powers that be.

West also went on to say that people tend to “go missing” in Hollywood, as he used the examples of Dr. Dre’s son, Bill Cosby’s son, Michael Jordan’s father and his own mother Donda West, to which he says were “sacrifices” used to “traumatize and monetize” Black celebrities who have reached a certain stature in entertainment.

This rant, given from the backseat of his Maybach, is his most provocative diatribes since he was cut off by almost every company he associated with after tweeting that he was going to “go deathcon3 on the Jews.”

Mitchell & Ness and Fanatics Add LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kevin Hart, and More to Ownership Group

Mitchell & Ness and Fanatics Add LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kevin Hart, and More to Ownership Group

Sports platform online Fanatics and a strategic investment group that included Jay-Z, Maverick Carter, Meek Mill, the D’Amelio family, and Lil Baby purchased the renowned lifestyle and street fashion company Mitchell & Ness in February. Fanatics has since announced an increase in the ownership group. LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul, CJ McCollum, Devin Booker, James Harden, Joel Embiid, Odell Beckham Jr., Kevin Hart, Rich Paul, Rich Kleiman, Scooter Braun, and Steve Stoute are among the more prominent figures joining the unit.

This new, extended group will help Mitchell & Ness become the most diversified and culturally relevant consumer brand. They are all tastemakers and trendsetters on their own. The influential owners will utilize their position to promote upcoming partnerships, one-of-a-kind capsule collections, and additional opportunities for fans to show their love for their preferred teams and players of the past, present, and future.

During the February acquisition, Fanatics CEO Michael Rubins said: “Mitchell & Ness is an iconic brand and a pioneer within our industry. I’m incredibly excited for Fanatics to partner with this incredible group of innovative owners to build upon the company’s already strong business that has kept the brand culturally relevant for more than 100 years. Growing up as a kid in Philadelphia we looked at Mitchell & Ness as a badge of pride, and I truly believe this legendary brand has no limit.”

Fanatics has strengthened Mitchell & Ness’ already strong brand since joining the Fanatics Commerce division earlier this year by exploiting its extensive customer database and strong connections with sports franchises to draw in new, diversified fans to the licensed sports market. Through Fanatics’ already-existing connection with the League, the company recently secured new, extensive rights to design and produce merchandise for all 32 NHL teams, as well as for active and retired players. To get Mitchell & Ness items into more prestigious sports properties and player organisations, more agreements and rights purchases are being worked on.

Some of the fastest-growing segments of the Fanatics Commerce business include men’s and women’s street fashion, nostalgic authentics, and other culturally relevant product categories – all areas of competence for Mitchell & Ness.

LeBron’s Tattoo Artist Can Proceed With Copyright Lawsuit Against Video Game Developers

LeBron vs. Luka and Steph vs. Ja Reportedly Part of NBA's Christmas Day Lineup

James Hayden is a celebrity tattoo artist who works with famous athletes such as LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neil.  Hayden brought a lawsuit against 2K Games Inc. and Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc., the makers of the NBA 2K video game series.  NBA 2K contains realistic versions of current NBA players that can be controlled by the players of the video game.  Hayden claimed that the game’s visual depictions of NBA players LeBron James, Danny Green, and Tristan Thompson displayed his tattoos without his authorization, thereby infringing his copyrights in those tattoos.

Both parties filed motions seeking to have the case dismissed.  Hayden argued that he owned the copyrights in his tattoos and they had clearly been infringed by the game developers.  2k and Take-Two argued that Hayden’s tattoos were not sufficiently original to qualify for copyright protection.  They also argued that the use of the tattoos in the game was “de minimis,” meaning their use was too small to be an infringement, because they were very small onscreen and only appeared fleetingly in the game.  Additionally, they argued that the depiction of the tattoos in the game was a non-infringing “fair use,” because they were using the tattoos for a different, or transformative, purpose than for which they were originally created.  Finally, they argued that Hayden had impliedly agreed to have his tattoos appear in a video game like NBA 2K, because he knew that his NBA players clients would be appearing in these games.

The court ruled that Hayden’s tattoos were sufficiently original and creative, as well as sufficiently permanent, and thus protectable by copyright.  The court also ruled that Hayden had sufficiently demonstrated ownership of the copyrights.

In regard to 2k and Take-Two’s other defenses, the court was unwilling to rule on them as a matter of law.  The court ruled that the issue of whether the use of the tattoos in the game was a de mimimis use was a factual issue for a jury to decide.  Likewise, the court ruled that the jury would need to consider issues of fact relevant to the fair use defense, including whether the use of the tattoos in the game was transformative, the extent to which the commercial purpose of the game weighed against fair use, and the extent to which the tattoos were used or featured in the game.  Finally, the court ruled that a jury would have to determine whether Hayden had intended for third parties such as 2K and Take-Two to use the tattoos at the time he created them.

The case will now be scheduled for trial, although there is a good chance that it will settle rather than proceed through trial.
