Wale and J. Cole Reunite on ‘Poke It Out’

J. Cole keeps the collabs coming.

Following his guest verse on Joyner Lucas’ “Your Heart,” he reunites with Wale on the latter’s new single “Poke It Out,” their first collaboration in three years.

The electrifying track, produced by Cool & Dre, finds the two rapping over a sample of Q-Tip’s 1999 hit “Vivrant Thing.” Wale spits game to the ladies, while Cole flexes on his swaggering verse.

“Cole World and Folarin, co-starrin’ / We both flexin’,” he raps before taking shots at the competition. “These cap ni**as that rap with piss poor jargon.”

Later, Cole shouts out Megan Thee Stallion and Coi Leray: “Poke it out / I wanna see you play / Whether you Meg Thee Stallion or like Coi Leray.”

This marks the first collaboration between the two since “My Boy (Freestyle)” in 2018.

“Poke It Out” is set to appear on Wale’s seventh studio album, Folarin 2, due Oct. 22.

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar to Headline Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show

The dream team is coming to the Super Bowl.

The NFL has announced that Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar will headline the 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. in February.

“The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime show, and to do it in my own backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career,” Dr. Dre said in a statement. “I’m grateful to JAY-Z, Roc Nation, the NFL, and Pepsi as well as Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar for joining me in what will be an unforgettable cultural moment.”

The halftime telecast will be produced by DPS with Roc Nation and Jesse Collins serving as executive producers, and Hamish Hamilton serving as director.

“On February 13, 2022, at the Super Bowl LVI in Inglewood, CA, in the new SoFi Stadium, Dr. Dre, a musical visionary from Compton, Snoop Dogg, an icon from Long Beach and Kendrick Lamar, a young musical pioneer in his own right, also from Compton, will take center field for a performance of a lifetime, said Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter. “They will be joined by the lyrical genius, Eminem and the timeless Queen, Mary J. Blige. This is the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. This is history in the making.”

Back in May, Snoop said his dream was to play the halftime show with Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and 50 Cent.

“Hopefully the NFL will be smart and make the right decision. It’s in Inglewood, Calif., and it will make the most sense in the world,” he told Yahoo!

The Super Bowl will return to Los Angeles for the first time in 49 years on Feb. 13, 2022. In recent years, performers have included The Weeknd, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Maroon 5, and Justin Timberlake.

Alicia Keys Hits the Studio with J. Cole

Alicia Keys and J. Cole are cooking up a collaboration.

The 15-time Grammy winner recently linked up with the Dreamville rapper while recording her new album in the Bahamas. She shared footage from their studio session as part of her new YouTube docuseries, “Noted: Alicia Keys The Untold Stories.”

In the 20-minute episode, Alicia sat at the piano while singing, “Don’t leave me lonely” as Cole added his own harmonies.

She also explained her process. “All I care about is trying to find the right words to say what I actually mean,” she said.

At one point, Cole asked Alicia what defines success to her. “Everybody wants the music that they put their hard work into to be as successful as possible, but to me success is, like, I wanna awe people,” she said.

At the end of their studio session, Cole seemed satisfied with the results. “That shit came together.”

Alicia was also joined in the studio by Raphael Saadiq, Mike WiLL Made-It, and Swae Lee, who she collaborated with on her single “LALA (Unlocked).”

Cole has been an Alicia fan since he was a teenager, but they’ve never collaborated before. When he was 14, he had a “super-duper crush” on the “Fallin’” singer.

“There was a few of these in my life. Mariah Carey was one when I was real young. Alicia Keys when I was a little older. I felt like I had a chance,” he told The Fat Jew in a 2013 interview.

50 Cent Says He Would Star in a Romantic Comedy with Nicki Minaj

50 Cent wants to share the screen with Nicki Minaj.

During his appearance on “Jalen Rose: Renaissance Man Podcast,” the hip-hop mogul was asked who he would want to star alongside in a romantic comedy and Nicki was the first name that came to mind.

“You know who would probably be fun to work with? Nicki,” said Fif. “Nicki Minaj would be fun to be in a romantic comedy with.”

Since they both grew up in the New York neighborhood of South Jamaica, Queens, 50 feels a kinship to the “Seeing Green” rapper. “I kinda understand her a little bit more than the other people,” he said. “When she’s being an asshole because she’s telling you, ‘You’re not going to take advantage of me.’”

While not everyone may like her “tough” personality, 50 says he understands Nicki and also defended her relationship with husband Kenneth Petty.

This is not the first time 50 has shared his love for Nicki. While speaking with Lil Wayne on Young Money Radio last year, 50 applauded Nicki for being an assertive “alpha female.”

“I love me some Nicki. This n***a actually happens to come from my neighborhood. It happens to be a girl, but that n***a is tough!” he said. “She be harder than the n***a she f**k with. She be harder and she’s an alpha female! That motherf**ker tough! You see what I’m saying, son? You got to watch her or she’ll go–she’ll do something that’s pulling a move to assert herself.”

50 is fresh off the premiere of his new Starz series “BMF,” which has already been renewed for a second season.
