Former Lil Wayne Protégé + Ex-Young Money Artist Flow Sentenced To Life In Prison

Lil Wayne Don't Cry

Former Young Money artist Widner “Flow” Degruy had his fate sealed. The jailed hip-hop artist received a life sentence this week in court for his role in a 2015 murder.

According to reports, Flow received his punishment Tuesday (May 14) in a publicized double homicide case.

Criminal District Judge Tracey Flemings-Davillier sentenced Flow to life in prison without the possibility of parole for each count of second-degree murder charges. He was also sentenced to an additional 30 years for conspiracy to commit murder, 40 years for obstruction of justice, and 30 years for conspiracy to obstruct justice. The sentencing arrived nearly one month after a jury convicted him in a 11-1 verdict on April 8, after deliberating for nearly 2 hours. (VIBE)

The hip-hop artist is convicted of killing two men with an affiliate.

Police say that 27-year-old Degruy and his associate Jonathan Evans shot two brothers, 22-year-old Kendrick and 18-year-old Kendred Bishop, as they sat inside a van. Authorities state that the found Degruy’s phone at the scene and surveillance footage shows him at the location, as well. Kendrick Bishop and Degruy were both aspiring rappers and even recorded music together. Investigators think the motive for the shooting stemmed from Degruy’s belief that the brothers stole guns and cash from him. (HNHH)

The victims’ mother made an appearance and had a statement read.

During the hearing, Assistant District Attorney Irena Zajickova read a statement on behalf of the victims’ mother, Sherry Strauss, who said her children were her “everything. Flow signed to Young Money Ent. in 2012, and made his first appearance on record with Lil Wayne on the song “Inkredible (Remix),” off the 2011 mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait. (XXL)

Back in 2015, Flow credited Young Money boss Lil Wayne and Louisiana native Curren$y for inspiring his career grind.

Lil Wayne Canceled Rolling Loud Set Because of Mandatory Police Search

Fans who had high hopes of watching Lil Wayne perform at the 2019 Rolling Loud Festival were sadly disappointed.

Weezy announced that he was no longer gracing the stage at the festival on Twitter because they made it mandatory that he gets searched and policed while being on stadium grounds. Tunechi’s argument was that he was there to work and shouldn’t have to endure feeling like a criminal just to do his job.

“To all my fans who came to see me at Rolling Loud, I’m sorry but I won’t be performing,” Tunechi tweeted. “The Festival Police (Not Rolling Loud) made it mandatory that I had to be policed and checked to get on the stadium grounds. I do not and will not ever settle for being policed to do my job and give you guys a great show.”

But he did end the tweet on a light note. “I will be at Story tonight for the afterparty and you kan katch me on tour with my bros Blink 182 this summer!” Weezy added in another tweet.

Luckily for Rolling Loud, Meek Mill was in the area and took the stage in Lil Wayne’s place.

Lil Wayne Cancelled Rolling Loud Set, Because Police Wanted To Frisk Him?

Fans who came to Rolling Loud Miami with the goal of seeing Lil Wayne were surely Disappointed. Yesterday (May 11), Tunechi announced he wouldn’t be performing just a couple of hours before he was to hit the stage, due to the police.

Apparently, Lil Wayne wasn’t with the “policing” at the festival.

“To all my fans who came to see me at Rolling Loud, I’m sorry but I won’t be performing,” he tweeted. “The Festival Police (Not Rolling Loud) made it mandatory that I had to be policed and checked to get on the stadium grounds. I do not and will not ever settle for being policed to do my job and give you guys a great show. I will be at Story tonight for the afterparty and you kan katch me on tour with my bros Blink 182 this summer!”

Umm, okay. TMZ reports that security insisted that Lil Wayne get searched, but he clearly wasn’t having it.

Of course, the speculation over what the police said to Weezy, or what he was trying to bring onto the grounds, was rampant. Such is Rap Twitter.

Lil Wayne has a new album deck, allegedly, though.

Lil Wayne Blames Cops For Rolling Loud Disappearance: “I’ll Not Ever Settle For Being Policed To Do My Job”

lil-wayne

Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne is coming clean on what really went down at the Rolling Loud music festival. Weezy F. Baby has issued a statement on going ghost for his Saturday night performance.

Wayne went to Twitter to explain law enforcement – not the Rolling Loud organizers – ultimately cost fans the chance to see him on-stage.

In addition to Wayne’s incident, fellow Rolling Loud headliner Kodak Black found himself in handcuffs.

Wayne’s cancellation is one in a series of unfortunate events to befall this year’s edition of Rolling Loud; on Friday night, false reports of an active shooter on the festival grounds caused a stampede and some attendees sustained minor injuries. Earlier today, rapper Kodak Black was arrestedbefore his Rolling Loud set at Hard Rock Stadium on weapons charges. (Pitchfork)

Lil Wayne Has A New Album Coming, Reportedly Fires Management [Photos]

Blink 182 x Lil Wayne Tour

Source: Randall Slavin / Live Nation

Lil Wayne is not taking his foot off the pedal. Rumor has it that he is prepping another album for a summer release and more.

Complex is reporting that Weezy might have another project in the works. While the details have yet to surface the clues are apparently right in front of our faces. Earlier this week the “Uproar” rapper announced an upcoming tour with Blink-182. When fans hit Ticketmaster and purchased their passes they were pleasantly surprised with a prompt saying “Each ticket comes with “a physical CD per order” of either “blink-182’s or Lil Wayne’s forthcoming album.”

Additionally TuneChi has been dropping coffin emojis throughout all of his recent social media posts which alludes to his much delayed Funeral album.

In other Wayne news it seems he has parted ways from his longtime partners and managers Cortez Bryant and Mack Maine. As spotted on Vibe the New Orleans native apparently terminated the services of his childhood friends prior to the release of his last effort Tha Carter 5. Carter’s former attorney Ron Sweeney has filed a lawsuit against the two claiming they conspired to get him fired.

The Blast reports “Sweeney claims he worked with Lil Wayne for nearly 14 years and provided around-the-clock services to the rapper for 10% of the income of the deals he worked on. He believes he helped Wayne and his businesses generate tens — if not hundreds — of millions of dollars over time.”

While Bryant nor Maine have formally commented on whether or not they still handle Weezy’s affairs their personal IG pages indicate everything is business is as usual. Cortez’s last couple of posts show him out and about during the NFL draft representing the Young Money Sports agency.
