Wale Defends Michelle Obama Against Tami Lahren: ‘You’re Threatened by the Power of Black Women’

The Wale and Tami Lahren saga continues.

These two have been beefing on Twitter since January 2017, and the rapper took another opportunity to clap back at the political commentator.

Michelle Obama stirred up some controversy after releasing her instant New York Times bestselling book Becoming. Lahren criticized the former First Lady saying, “Michelle Obama is upset Melania never asked for advice on how to be First Lady,” she wrote. “Michelle, besides ruining school lunches what did you do?”

Wale came through insisting that her problem is just with Black women as a whole. “Just say you threatened by the power of black women and go Tammy,” he wrote, quoting Lahren’s original tweet. “[You] and your zany hijinks won’t prosper today.”

Brooklyn Nets’ Caris LeVert Suffers Tough On-Court Injury, NBA Twitter Shows Support

Rising Brooklyn Nets player Caris LeVert suffered a freak accident during a game that was so severe that he had to be wheeled off the court in a stretcher. The NBA community rallied around LeVert via Twitter in wishing him a speedy recovery.

From ESPN:

The Brooklyn Nets’ Caris LeVert was carried off the court against the Minnesota Timberwolves after significantly injuring his right leg late in the first half on Monday. The Nets announced that after he was assisted off the Target Center court, an ambulance took LeVert to a hospital for further evaluation.

“He is the heart and soul of our program,” Nets coach Kenny Atkinson said. “It’s a tough, tough blow for the Nets.”

LeVert came down hard on his right leg after colliding with Jeff Teague on an attempted chase-down block. He sat up and looked down at his leg before lying back down on the court and placing his hands on his forehead in apparent pain.

LeVert, who is a cousin of singers Gerald LeVert, Eddie LeVert, and Sean LeVert, played four years of college ball for the Michigan Timberwolves. He was drafted by the Nets in 2016, and this season, the 6-foot-7 shooting guard was averaging 18 points a game.

NBA Twitter has been rallying around LeVert and we’ve collected some of those responses below.

The Diplomats are making a return to the scene in a big way on the back of their new video and single “Sauce Boyz” but something appeared to be missing with the crew’s youngest member. Juelz Santana‘s front teeth looked to be missing in the video in some shots and a fan launched a GoFundMe in wake of the Twitter clowning that ensued.

Never wasting time, 50 Cent was one of the first to hop on the joke bandwagon on Instagram.

And in true Petty God fashion, Fif showed off his pearly whites in another photo.

This went along with a number of folks online noticing that the “Human Crack In The Flesh” rapper might be what the game’s been missing but he’s clearly missing his chompers right along with it. The clowning online was relentless and because we’re kind souls, we’re going to link to the GoFundMe page although Juelz Santana’s fronts seem to be back in order based on the photo below.

#VineBack: The Beloved Social Media Platform Is Coming Back But With A New Name

Twitter killed off Vine much to the displeasure of many users who loved the short-form video app. But the platforms creator has announced some good news that should make fans of the app very happy.

Vine is coming back, well sort of.

In a tweet Wednesday (Nov 8), Dom Hofmann who created Vine before subsequently selling it to Twitter in 2012 announced his new looping video app called byte. He has been teasing the return of the app since 2017, and at the time it was called V2, but it was put on hold because of the costs with developing the app. He was more than happy to announce that plans are back on.

No details have been revealed on how this iteration of looping video app will work, but one can assume it will work the same way as Vine. Hoffman left the company a year later after it was acquired, but it was still at the time one of the most popular video sharing platforms in Apple’s App Store. When Twitter announced it was killing the app, users took the social media platform to share the best Vines created by its users.

We are quite sure folks are happy to hear a version of Vine is coming from Hoffman.

Funk Faking Beckies Pretending To Be Black Get Called Out On Twitter

Just as we’ve had to remind our white brothers and sisters that Blackface is never okay in recent weeks, once again Black Twitter is giving lessons to that side of the map about appropriating the culture. A Twitter user who once got into it with Nicki Minaj fans used her vast platform to call out a disturbing trend of, in her words, white women “cosplaying” as Black women.

Writer @Wannas world opened up the discussion earlier this week with the tweet below:

From there, several examples of white women putting on a classier and less abrasive form of Blackface on for the masses. Other Twitter users chimed in with their disdain as well, and the unsavory practice has been dubbed “n*ggerfishing” on the social media network.

And now, a solid word from the great Vince Staples.

We’ve collected some of the responses to this rising and truly unfortunate epidemic as @WannasWorld calls it. Check them out below.

Juvenile became the first artist signed to Cash Money Records in 1997 with his second studio album Solja Rags, but it was the following year that cemented him as a certified star. On this date 20 years ago, Juve’s third studio LP, 400 Degreez, hit the scene and Twitter fans are celebrating the milestone as expected.

Produced entirely by the legendary Mannie Fresh, 400 Degreez exploded onto the scene on the back of its still-catchy lead single “HA” and followed up by the certified booty shake anthem “Back Dat Azz Up” with Mannie and Lil Wayne on the help out. The former Hot Boys crew featuring B.G. and Turk were also featured and a remix of “HA” featuring Jay-Z.  The album remains Juvenile’s highest-selling project, with his next three projects doing 1 million and better.

Fans on Twitter are posting up their connection with the album, and we’ve collected the best responses we could find below.

D Rose Back: NBA Players Salute Derrick Rose’s 50-Point Explosion

Utah Jazz v Minnesota Timberwolves

Source: Hannah Foslien / Getty

Derrick Rose was one of the most promising NBA players of his era, but injuries robbed him of his potential for greatness. However, on Halloween night D Rose was back and exploded on the court for 50 points, reminding many of us of just how special a player he was.

Rose and the Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Utah Jazz at their home base of the Target Center in a tense back and forth contest. While Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert had big games for the Jazz, Rose put the Timberwolves on his back and even played the most minutes with 41.

The whole league has been going up for Derrick Rose, understandably so. The moment was big for Rose too as he was wracked with emotion and embracing his new position as a role player and locker room leader. In fact in the post-game interview, Rose noted that he’s never been this manner of player but is now trying to use his experience to guide the young team to greatness alongside the talented Jimmy Butler.

Check out the reactions below.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z As Flo Jo & Tommie Smith Has Twitter Going Crazy

Beyonce And Jay-Z 'On The Run II' Tour - New Jersey

The Carters are once again breaking the Internet, this time with a joint Halloween costume that pays homage to a pair of track and field legends. Beyoncé came to slay as the late Florence Griffith Joyner, better known as Flo Jo, while Jay-Z killed the game by coming in dressed as Tommie Smith.

With the photos blowing up on Twitter, a history lesson was necessary for some of the youngins after one user praised Queen Bey for praising an “overlooked” Black heroine. We have to forgive that person because they probably weren’t alive when Flo Jo became a sports and fashion icon. Smith, alongside John Carlos, is responsible for one of the most iconic sports moments in history when the two men raised their fists in a Black Power salute after they won the gold and bronze medal respectively at the 1968 Summer Olympics.

Twitter is getting both an education in Black Excellence and some high-class fashion know-how with the images. Apparently, this was part of a lavish Halloween bash that Diddy’s sons Justin and Christian hosted, which also featured the likes of Kevin Hart, Chris Brown, and Diddy conquering his fear of clowns by coming it as Pennywise from IT. And let’s not forget that fantastic Phoni Braxton costume

For now, let’s check out the salutes and adoration from Twitter for Beyoncé and Jay-Z below.
