Metro Boomin Teams with MLB Network for Baseball’s Opening Day

Metro Boomin Teams with MLB Network for Baseball's Opening Day

Metro Boomin, a producer with a Diamond certification and a GRAMMY® Award nomination, has teamed up with MLB Network to appear in its Opening Day programming in 2023.

The piece will be broadcast throughout the MLB Network’s extensive studio programming starting at 9 a.m. ET today (Thursday), an award-winning platform for MLB content. The opening, which is set to the songs “On Time” and “Trance” from the HEROES & VILLAINS album, draws on Metro Boomin’s love of baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals and compares the process of writing new music to players getting ready for a 162-game regular season.

At one point in the video, Metro Boomin says, “But all throughout, you gotta be true to yourself. Inject that flavor that makes what you’re creating different from everything anyone else has ever come up with.”

The opening features a number of shots and highlights of Major League Baseball’s seasoned veterans and up-and-comers, including Julio Rodriguez (Seattle Mariners), Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Angels), Justin Verlander (NY Mets), and Jazz Chisholm Jr. (Miami Marlins).

“You can’t beat this time of year. Everybody’s staring at 162. 162 chances to make that beautiful music you can’t get anywhere else. Play ball.”

Baseballer Carl Crawford Has His Own ‘Perfect Storm’

Many have nicknamed Carl Crawford “the Perfect Storm” during his MBL career because of the way that everything seems to come together to create the space for his hurricane-like manic to be realized against opposing teams. However last night, according to TMZ, the ex-Dodger’s Houston house became the center of a double drowning —an adult female and young male.

The two drowned in a pool on the property.

Crawford was hosting a get-together for friends and the woman was babysitting the 5-year-old child. The boy went outside and accidentally fell into the pool, sources say, and the woman tried to save him. She was unsuccessful.

TMZ reports that Crawford tried to jump into save the two, but he also was unsuccessful in reviving either victim.

By the time the EMT arrived, the two were “unresponsive.”

The gathering was within the guidelines. Ten or less is acceptable and there were six people in attendance.

Quavo Adds Pitcher To Resume After Throwing Out 1st Pitch At Braves Game

Divisional Series - St Louis Cardinals v Atlanta Braves - Game Two

One-third of the hit-making group Migos, Quavo, checked another major milestone off of his bucket list after being tapped to throw out the game-opening pitch for his hometown team.

According to sports news, Quavo threw out the first ceremonial pitch before game two of the National League Division Series matchup between the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals on Friday (Oct. 4). The special occasion featured the “Pure Water” artist donning a custom made Braves jersey that featured him rocking the number 91, for his birth year, and bolstered his nickname “Huncho” on the back.

Before the start of the game, Fox Sports tweeted out a video of Quavo practicing his perfect pitch behind an old building, landing a near-perfect strike to the catcher.

While on the field, Quavo kept that same energy throwing southpaw as the announcer asked candidly, “Let’s see what you got, Quavo.”

In other Migos news, the trio received good news last week after a judge ruled that a company’s 2015 agreement to market apparel for hip-hop group did not give it a right to capitalize on the Migos name in light of the group’s recent success.

According to Law.com, Justice O. Peter Sherwood knocked out key claims in a lawsuit by Rocawear co-founder Norton Cher’s YRN LLC, which sued the Georgia-based trio and Migos LLC for breach of contract in May 2018.

According to the complaint, the firm acquired the trademarks to “Y.R.N.” and “Yung Rich Nation” in March 2015, with the goal of marketing clothing and accessories associated with Migo’s then-forthcoming single and album by the same names. The suit alleged that the performers, Quavious Marshall, Kiari Cephus and Kirshnik Ball, and managers Jerel Nance and Pierre Thomas had agreed not to compete with the company by marketing apparel with the Migos name.

It was an “incontrovertible fact,” Judge Sherwood said, noting that the company never had any right to the Migos name, and by the time Migos had paired up with Bravado, any need for the contract’s restrictions was gone.

“There simply was no market left to cannibalize.” Sherwood wrote in an 11-page opinion dated Sept. 12. “The market for apparel bearing the name of a faded Migos song or album was gone and the restrictive covenants in [the contract] no longer made commercial success.”

The ruling was handed down in September, although it was just announced this week.

Google Remembers Roberto Clemente In Honor Of Hispanic Heritage Month

It’s Hispanic Heritage Month and Google is here to help us celebrate. If you Google anything this afternoon, you’ll see that today’s Doodle, by guest artist Roxie Vizcarra, celebrates the life of Roberto Clemente.

Google tweeted, “Today we celebrate Puerto Rican, Hall of Fame baseball star Roberto Clemente, whose record-breaking on the field performance matched his groundbreaking off-the-field humanitarian efforts.”

As highlighted by the site, Clemente “accumulated numerous accolades during his pro career including 12 consecutive Gold Glove Awards, 4 National League batting titles, 3,000 career hits, the 1966 National League MVP Award, 2 World Series rings, and the 1971 World Series MVP Award. In fact, it was on this day in 1971 that Clemente’s performance led the Pittsburgh Pirates to victory against the Baltimore Orioles in Game 3 of the series, ultimately contributing to their Series title.”

But he wasn’t just an amazing athlete—the Hall of Famer loved helping people too: “Aside from his talents on diamond, it was Clemente’s mission to help others that has solidified his legacy as one of the most humanitarian athletes to play the game. Whether it was delivering food and supplies to those in need, holding baseball clinics for kids, or making generous donations, he consistently sought to be an agent of positive impact and a role model for the youth of his community.”

Clemente passed away in 1972, at the early age of 38, after the overloaded plane he was flying in crashed. There had been a massive earthquake in Nicaragua and Clemente was on his way to personally gift the country supplies.
