Bungie Reveals 'Destiny 2' Will Support Cross-Gen Support & More

E3 2020 is canceled, thanks in large part to COVID-19, but that didn’t stop Bungie from dropping a ton of Destiny 2 news on us.

Today (Jun.9), during Bungie’s epic Destiny 2 livestream event, the game studio highlighted the next chapter for its looter- shooter, which will begin with the arrival of fall expansion, Beyond The Light. But that’s not all, the titles for season 11’s two major story expansions arriving 2021 and 2022 were also revealed and more big surprises.

Following an 8 minute and 46 second moment of silence for George Floyd (salute to Bungie) and a small doc showcasing how the team is managing working from home due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Once that was done, Mark Noseworthy and Luke Smith took over, and yes, they were socially distancing during the stream. They both excitedly announced the 2021 expansion for Destiny 2 is titled The Witch Queen, and coming 2022 is Lightfall. That’s all they revealed, but they did share a significant amount of information on Beyond The Light even sharing some gameplay footage.

The arrival of new expansions usually means significant changes to the game like new multiplayer maps, strikes, and story missions. Bungie is also introducing what it calls the Destiny Content Vault. Basically, it will allow Bungie to cycle out older content that players are not really interacting with and bring back older content from the original Destiny game that fans loved.

The real exciting news came in the form of how Destiny 2 will make the jump to next-generation consoles PS5, and Xbox Series X. Noseworthy and Smith detailed the ambitious plans Bungie has for Destiny 2 on the forthcoming new consoles. They revealed that gamers who own the expansions will be able to upgrade the game on Xbox Series X using Microsoft’s Smart Delivery program and on PS5 (which is breaking news in itself) for FREE when they both arrive in 2021 and 2022.

Another eyebrow-raising bit of news was the confirmation that Destiny 2 will support cross-gen gaming. That means PS5 players can play with PS4 players, and Xbox Series X gamers can play alongside those still rocking with the Xbox One X. Noseworthy and Smtih also confirmed they are working on crossplay between all of the consoles as well.

So with all of this news, Destiny 3 is more than likely nowhere near done since Destiny 2 is being given more legs with all of these expansions and updates. We’re not mad at that at all. You can watch the entire presentation below.

The Jig?: Sony Unveils The PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller, Twitter Says It Looks Like A Xbox Controller

Sony Unveils PS5's DualSense Controller, Twitter Thinks It Looks Familiar

Source: Sony / PlayStation 5

Now, this was a pleasant surprise, Sony has unveiled the PlayStation 5’s new DualSense controller. While this is an epic moment, some gamers can’t help but compare it to the competitions sticks.

Okay, we get it’s not the PS5 console, but this is a start, and based on the DualSense’s two-tone color scheme, it’s a safe bet to assume the new console will be sporting the same look. Sony revealed in its blog that this is the final design that is being shipped to developers to incorporate the DualSense’s new features into their games.

Now for the million-dollar question, what’s new? While keeping what PS4 lovers enjoyed most about the DualShock 4, Sony built on that by introducing DualSense paired with the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech, which “will deliver a new feeling of immersion to players.” Also, there is no more share button. Now before you lose your mind, don’t worry, Sony isn’t crazy to get rid of the feature the company introduced to the world. Instead, it will be called a “create button,” and that’s all we know about it, but we are very intrigued.

Another amazing new feature Sony announced the DualSense 5 will have is a built-in microphone array that will allow players to “easily chat with friends without a headset – ideal for jumping into a quick conversation.” For longer conversations, Sony does recommend you use a headset, but that is still a gamechanger.

Sony also incorporated adaptive triggers into the controller’s L2 and R2 buttons of DualSense that will allow players to truly feel the tension of their actions like pulling the string on a bow. As for the look, Sony opted to go for a two-tone look for the first time abandoning the usual solid color scheme we have grown familiar with. The light bar has been moved from its location at the top of the controller and now has been placed on each side of the touchpad.

The DualSense is a very sleek looking controller, but some video game enthusiasts couldn’t help but notice that it does resemble a possible Xbox Controller. We are pleased with what we see, we can’t wait to actually get one in our hands. Besides, gamers are insanely hard to please. The only thing left for Sony to show us now is the console, we are still waiting patiently for that.

For now, you can peep the reactions to the controller in the gallery below.

Outside of reading books, or binge-watching shows on your favorite streaming services, video games are an excellent way to keep yourself occupied. So, now is no better time to log in some serious hours on those games you have been sitting on.

We get it; being locked up in your crib as a result of the growing coronavirus pandemic is not fun at all, but you have to make the most of the situation. There are no group of people better suited to having to be hunkered down in the crib than gamers. It’s really like we have been preparing for this situation our entire lives.

Eventually, gamers get jobs, and they don’t have the hours to put into individual titles opting for shorter games that won’t consume all of their free time.

But with a lot of folks now home for the foreseeable future (we hope that is not the case) now is an excellent time to turn on that PlayStation 4, Xbox One X or Nintendo Switch and get to gaming and tackle those games that fall under the “long as hell” category.

You may have beat one or more of these titles already, doesn’t mean you can’t revisit them because they usually have excellent replay value. The main idea is to find a game that will take you a while to get through it, and that is expansive enough that you can’t just speed through it.

So hit the gallery below to see all of our suggestions, happy gaming, stay safe, and WASH YOUR HANDS.

8 Video Games We Are Excited To Pick Up The Sticks For In 2020

8 Games We Are Excited To Pick Up The Sticks For In 2020

Source: Square Enix / Final Fantasy VII Remake

2019 was an excellent year for video game fans thanks to games like Mortal Kombat 11, Resident Evil 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Sekiro, Death Stranding, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 just to name a few. 2020 is looking to keep the momentum from the previous year going boasting some strong titles coming to a console near you.

With Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X on the horizon, that doesn’t mean the current generation of consoles is on its last legs. In fact, it’s the exact opposite due to the fact it’s going to take some time for gamers to make the jump to a next-generation console. Plus, they have some incentive to take their time doing so thanks to big games dropping this year that should help extend the life of the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One X for another year are so.

With that said, we decided to go through the long list of games expected to hit shelves in barring any delays that we feel should honestly be on your radar.

Now don’t feel any type of way if you think we may have missed one, but this is our list, you can definitely throw out a suggestion though, we will gladly appreciate it.

Hit the gallery below to see which video games have our full attention this year.

Word?: Xbox One Owners Claim ‘Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare’ Is Bricking Consoles

Gamers Claim 'COD: Modern Warfare' Is Bricking Xbox One Consoles

Source: Activision / Infinity Ward

Gamers across the globe have “gone dark” this past weekend with the launch/reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The game’s arrival wasn’t without issues. Activision/Infinity Ward has some serious cleaning up to do.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is serving as the launching pad for cross-play, faced severe server issues that kept players from accession the game’s online-based modes. On top of that issue, some Xbox One players are saying the game is “bricking” their consoles. The game’s developer, Infinity Ward, is aware of the issue and according to the Subreddit dedicated to Modern Warfare, is working on a solution to the problem.

In a statement issued by Infinity Ward:

“We have identified an issue that is affecting some players on Xbox One X. Players affected are experiencing crashes. We are working with Microsoft to address the issue. We genuinely can’t thank you all enough for providing us with your ongoing feedback this launch, every bit of information helps. Stand by for more updates on this issue soon, and thank you for your patience and your help while we work towards a solution.”

Users have responded to the post sharing the statement claiming Modern Warfare is indeed bricking their consoles despite none of the claims being verified. One particular user who goes by name Jason–Todd claims that “bricking” is unlikely even though the game might freeze, causing the console to become unresponsive.

The game would literally have to somehow delete the console OS or overheat it beyond the safety settings built into the motherboard itself.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare isn’t the first game to face these claims. Anthem and Borderlands 3 players also made the claim that both titles were “bricking” their consoles as well. To be on the safe side, Xbox One owners should refrain from playing the game until Infinity Ward rolls out a fix addressing the “issues.” PlayStation 4 owners have not experienced any problems yet as far as we know.

2018 is coming to a close and if you’re a gamer the year has been a good one for you when it came to powering up your consoles and escaping reality for a few hours.

I’ve been gaming for a long time, and I can’t recall a time when there was just so many games to play with some of them launching in the same month. We decided to list our favorite 10 games from 2018, and no Fornite is not on it. While 2019 has some big titles to look forward to like *coughs* Resident Evil 2, and The Last of Us 2, this year has been one for the record books.
