Microsoft has confirmed the disc-less Xbox One S is indeed coming this year. Dubbed the “All Digital Edition” and broke down what gamers can expect when the console launches.

Last month rumblings strongly hinted the tech giant was taking the step into the disc-less age with the latest variation of its video game console. For you to enjoy your library of digital downloads, the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will be jammed with memory. When it launches, it will come with a 1TB HHD as well as three titles: Forza Horizon 3, Sea of Thieves and Minecraft to help get your collection started but does away with the 4K Blu-ray drive.

If you don’t really have the money to be purchasing games all of the time, you can sign up for Microsoft’s new  Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription service for just $14.99. Once signed up, it will grant you access to a “digital library” of over 100 games for you to enjoy.

The Xbox One S All-Digital Edition will be available for purchase on May 7 and is $50 cheaper than the original Xbox One S starting at $250. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft will offer the consoles with more memory, but 1TB is a sizable amount, to begin with at that price point. If you are worried that the tech giant is laying the Xbox One S and Xbox One X to rest, don’t worry Microsoft confirms it will still be selling the original disc-based consoles.

So if you’re in the market for an Xbox One S, you can head here to pre-order the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition. You can check out this introductory video for the next step in Microsoft’s console below.

Death of The Disc?: “All-Digital” Xbox One S Reportedly Launching In May

"All-Digital" Xbox One S Reportedly Launching In May

Microsoft looks like it’s ready to take the leap into disc-less consoles this year. According to reports, the tech giant is poised to drop an “Xbox One S All-Digital Edition” in May.

But is the gaming community ready to part ways with Blu-ray discs?

That is the million dollar question? Rumors are swirling that Microsoft is set to launch the discless console sometime early May with pre-orders beginning in mid-April. The “Xbox One S All-Digital” would serve as the first test to see if the world is indeed ready for Microsofts next-generation video game console codenamed Scarlett. Not much is known about the digital box in terms of pricing and design but according to Thurrott its exclusion of a Blu-ray drive could mean the new system could $100 cheaper than previous models.

This is a very bold step to take but its a huge risk because there are no sure signs gamers are ready to part ways with Blu-ray discs and go completely digital. While systems offer a combination of both and offer the benefit of a cloud-based memory system, some might be hesitant to blindly put all of their faith in it assuming that their digital library will be safe. But this is definitely the direction where gaming seems to be heading in so eventually folks will have to get on board. We will definitely be keeping our ears to the streets on this rumor.

2018 is coming to a close and if you’re a gamer the year has been a good one for you when it came to powering up your consoles and escaping reality for a few hours.

One could make the argument for 2018 being one of the best years in video game history. It’s been a while since we seen so many critically acclaimed titles hit consoles in one year keeping gamers in front of their 4K televisions regularly.

I’ve been gaming for a long time, and I can’t recall a time when there was just so many games to play with some of them launching in the same month. In this year alone we saw the return of Kratos, web swung through the streets of NYC as Spider-Man, got the Dragon Ball Fighter Z game we always wanted, returned to the Wild Wild West in Red Dead Redemption 2, teamed up with Lara Croft to stop the apocalypse in Shadow of The Tomb Raider and so much more.

We decided to list our favorite 10 games from 2018, and no Fornite is not on it. While 2019 has some big titles to look forward to like *coughs* Resident Evil 2, and The Last of Us 2, this year has been one for the record books. Hit the gallery below to see which games got mad respect from us and which title got that number 1 spot.
