Nike x ‘NBA 2K20’s’ MyPlayer Nation Exclusive Kicks Program Will Push On, Despite No NBA Games

Nike x NBA 2K20's GE Program Continues With 4 More Sneaker Drops

Source: 2K / NBA2k20

The 2019-20 NBA season is on ice indefinitely, but NBA 2K20 is making sure we are still getting our action on the hardwood and our exclusive kicks.

Nike Basketball shared on its official Instagram account that gamers can still look forward to four pairs of gamer exclusive kicks when the MyPlayer Nation Playoffs kickoff. The program, which launched back in October subsequently after the game’s release, allows players to secure limited unique pairs of kicks by completing in-game challenges like reaching a certain rank or scoring a desired amount of points.

The IG post announces that 2K players can look forward to GE editions of LeBron James, Paul George, Kevin Durant, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The first sneaker will be revealed Thursday (Apr.9)

Since the launch of the program, we have already seen a pair of LeBron 17 ‘Bron 2K’, Kobe V Protro ‘Chaos’ GE, the PG 4 x Gatorade GE, and the Adapt BB 2.0 ‘Chicago’ GE. 2K players can look forward to the new challenges beginning April 11 with the playoffs kicking off on April 19. You can check out all of the previous sneakers that dropped below.

DeMarcus Cousins Suffers A 52-Point L In The NBA 2K Players Tournament, Twitter Fries Him

DeMarcus Cousins Suffered A 52-Point Loss In The NBA 2K Players Tournament

Source: Icon Sportswire / Getty

The first round in the NBA 2K Players Tourney is done, but one game, in particular, has fans talking.

The second round in the NBA 2K Players tournament is set, but we had to get some first-round action to get there. When the competition was first announced, curiosity sparked with fans wondering just how good the league’s superstars are in popular basketball video game franchise.

Most of the games in the first round of action were blowouts except for Donovan Mitchell and Rui Hachimura’s matchup, which came down to a final shot. The tournament’s top seed, Kevin Durant, kicked things off by getting the boot first at the hands of Miami Heat’s star Derrick Jones Jr.

Trae Young, who claimed to be a rookie when it came to picking up sticks, handled seasoned NBA 2K player Harrison Barnes smacking him by 40.

At the time that was the highest deficit any player faced during the tournament, that was until DeMarcus Cousins told Harrison Barnes to hold his beer. Cousins was the favorite to win his matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers’ big man Andre Drummond. But he spectacularly let everyone down as we all watched him get his ass handed to him electronically on the virtual hardwood.

Drummond stepped on the gas immediately, cooking Cousins with his former team the Lakers while Boogie failed to utilize the weapons he had on the Brooklyn Nets. When the game clock hit 00:00, Cousins took home the honors of losing by 52 points, easily topping Harrison Barnes blowout loss.

Twitter had jokes immediately telling Boogie to never pick up the sticks again and participate in anymore NBA 2K tournaments. Some even claimed Ronnie 2K was enjoying the moment and also rigged the game against Cousins following him getting caught on live stream calling the NBA baller a d*ck. Social media wanted Ronnie fired, and Boogie responded to the clip telling “the face of NBA 2K” you know you f*cked up, right? Ronnie did eventually apologize.

But back to the ass-whooping, you can peep all of the hilarious reactions in the gallery below.

NBA 2K20 Remembers Kobe Bryant W/ Heartfelt In-Game Tributes

Kobe Bryant NBA 2K20

The NBA 2K community is speaking out. Players and developers alike have come together to pay homage and respect to the memory of late Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant.

Big Facts: Since Kobe’s shocking Sunday passing, NBA 2K20 has put in-game salutes to the Black Mamba and gamers have also remembered the sports mogul.

NBA 2K20’s players and developers alike are paying tribute, in the game, to Kobe Bryant, the epochal basketball superstar who died in a helicopter crash in Southern California on Sunday. Players logging into the game since Sunday afternoon have been greeted with a memorial title card, which is also presented as a billboard in NBA 2K20’s The Neighborhood hub world. (Polygon)

High-Key Details: Handfuls of NBA 2K20 players have also taken it upon themselves to remember KB with 8-second and 24-second violations in honor of his jersey numbers.

NBA 2K20 players themselves have poured in even more spontaneous tributes, taking their cues from real life. Yesterday, many of the NBA teams scheduled to play deliberately took 24-second shot clock violations and 8-second backcourt violations after the opening tipoff, as tributes to Bryant for the two numbers he wore over 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. A clip that is currently atop NBA 2K’s vibrant subreddit community shows two teams of players — who don’t know each other — doing the same thing in The Rec, a five-on-five multiplayer mode. (Polygon)

Wait, There’s More: A few days ago, NBA 2K executive Ronnie 2K reflected on Kobe’s passing.

Before You Go: This week, hardcore NBA 2K gamer Game shared his push for the NBA to change its logo to KB.

Watch: Kevin Durant + Steve Stoute Reveal 10 New Musicians Added To NBA 2K20 Soundtrack

Steve Stoute Kevin Durant NBA 2K20 Clip

The NBA 2K20 soundtrack is getting packed with more audio heat. Today, NBA 2K revealed the Top 10 additions to the star-studded line-up hand-picked by Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant and music executive Steve Stoute. Watch and comment below!

2K and UnitedMasters today announced the 10 winners of a global contest who will have their songs added to the NBA 2K20 in-game soundtrack.  Announced in July, the contest gave artists from around the world the chance to submit songs to UnitedMasters for the opportunity to be featured on the in-game soundtrack. This is the first-time users and fans of NBA 2K have been able to submit their own music to be included in an official soundtrack for the video game.

“2K is proud to be a leading music platform for established and up-and-coming artists,” said Alfie Brody, vice president of marketing for NBA 2K. “We strongly feel that music is integral to the NBA 2K experience and we are excited to offer our players a dynamically updated in-game soundtrack, which now includes these aspiring artists.”

The contest received over 10,000 song submissions from artists throughout the world. 2K and UnitedMasters narrowed the tracks down to a top-25 list with Steve Stoute, UnitedMasters Founder and CEO, and 10x NBA All-Star and 2x NBA Champion, Kevin Durant, selecting the 10 winners to be added to the game

“The NBA 2K soundtrack consistently showcases the best artists, and we’re excited that these UnitedMasters artists have the opportunity to bring their music to millions of new listeners. We expect that this is just the beginning for these talented musicians,” said Steve Stoute, founder and CEO of UnitedMasters. “We’re very proud to work with such a culturally significant and influential game like NBA 2K to showcase these artists and can’t wait for the millions of gamers to hear the next generation of music talent.”

“Music and basketball were always an important part of my life. I think what Steve is doing at UnitedMasters is amazing. If I can help put these talented artists with NBA 2K then it’s all comes full circle to music and ball for me,” said Kevin Durant.

Upon hearing he would be featured on the soundtrack, UM Artist Quantrelle added“I thought it was dope because I planned on using a different distribution service to get my music out, but management suggested UnitedMasters and to see what they have done with momentum is a true testament on how UnitedMasters can help propel your career.”

UM Artist Fourtee reacted upon hearing the news said, “Honestly, it was an out of body experience. It felt unreal, but thank God I have really high expectations for my music.”

The launch track list for this year’s in-game soundtrack was revealed in July at ComplexCon in Chicago and is available to enjoy in-game and on Spotify. In addition to these 10 songs, the soundtrack will continue to be dynamically updated with new tracks over the coming months.
