Serena Williams 2

Don’t close the door on Serena Williams career just yet. After what many assumed was a farewell at the U.S. Open, Williams spoke at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco and warned of a possible return.

Social Media Reacts To Nike’s Cringeworthy “Pushin’ P” Tweet

https hypebeast.com image 2021 07 drake nike air force 1 certified lover boy release info 1

“Pushin’ P” had a good run of one week. Now companies are adopting the new phrase in order to “appeal” to a younger generation. Companies like IHop, who people wouldn’t think to have a strong social media presence, are using the phrase and getting cosigns from Gunna himself. On Thursday, Nike attempted to join in on the fun and talk about how they are “Pushin’ P” in Beaverton.

“We had an internal meeting, and without getting into details, we’re pushin P all year,” the sneaker and apparel giant tweeted.

The tweet caught the attention of Gunna who even responded to the tweet, teasing the idea of a Gunna and Nike collab.

“Nike X GUNNA is P” the Atlanta rapper tweeted.

The reaction was split to Nike’s tweet. Some people applauded the company for joining in on the “P” hype, and others took the opportunity to vent their frustrations with the company.

Whether or not you think Nike is “Pushin P,” you can’t deny that the company has some SERIOUS areas for improvement.

Vanessa Bryant Blasts Nike For Unauthorized ‘Mambacita’ Shoe

Vanessa Bryant Blasts Nike For Unauthorized 'Mambacita' Shoe

Vanessa Bryant is not happy about Nike producing a sneaker in honor of her late daughter without her permission.

Vanessa took to social media to blast the sports apparel brand after a fan posted a picture with the shoe that she designed herself.

“This is a shoe I worked on in honor of my daughter, Gianna,” she wrote on Instagram. “It was going to be called the MAMBACITA shoe as an exclusive black and white colorway on her daddy’s shoes. I picked the colors in honor of her uniform, the number 2 she wore just like her uniform, the inside pattern, Kobe and Gigi on the back in gold instead of Kobe’s signature, the inside shoe details (butterfly, wings, halo), etc.”

She continued, “The MAMBACITA shoes are NOT approved for sale. I wanted it to be sold to honor my daughter with ALL of the proceeds benefitting our @mambamambacitasports foundation but I did not re-sign the Nike contract to sell these shoes. (The MAMBACITA shoes were not approved to be made in the first place.) Nike has NOT sent any of these pairs to me and my girls.”

Vanessa Bryant added that she’s unsure how the person got their hands on it because it’s not supposed to be available in stores.

“I do not know how someone else has their hands on shoes I designed in honor of my daughter, Gigi and we don’t,” she wrote. “I hope these shoes did not get sold. @nike.”

Michael Jordan Gifts $1 Million to Morehouse to Advance Journalism & Sports

Michael Jordan Donates $10 Million to Develop Two Health Clinics in His Hometown

Michael Jordan recently donated $1 million to Morehouse College. The NBA team owner’s Jordan brand and Nike’s donation will seek to advance and support journalism and sports at the HBCU. The school’s journalism program originally launched following a donation from Oscar-winning filmmaker, Spike Lee.

The HBCU’s VP for institutional advancement released a statement thanking His Airness for the donation.

“Morehouse is grateful to Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand for an investment in the education of talented men of color who will ensure there is equity, balance, and truth in the way sports stories are framed and the way the Black experience is contextualized within American history,” said Monique Dozier.

Jordan’s philanthropic efforts continue to be something he takes pride in. The NBA legend previously pledged $10 million dollars to several causes through his Black Community Commitment program. Now that pledge has begun to unfold. He previously donated to the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Ida B. Wells Society, and more.

“Education is crucial for understanding the Black experience today,” says Jordan. “We want to help people understand the truth of our past and help tell the stories that will shape our future.”
