The countdown for NBA 2K20 has just intensified. This week, cover star Anthony Davis pulled through for an NBA 2K event to unveil a special edition NBA 2K20 XBOX ONE X bundle pack ahead of the game’s September 6 release.
To say that the NBA free agency period has been wild would be a massive understatement and no bigger name is left on the docket than Kawhi Leonard. After free agent big man Kendrick Perkins suggested in a tweet that the Toronto Raptors superstar was heading to the Los Angeles Lakers, NBA Twitter has been on fire since.
“Just heard that Kawhi is meeting with the Clippers tonight but the Lakers hold the upper hand, unless Doc work his Magic tonight it’s looking very strong that Kawhi will be in Purple and Gold,” Perkins tweeted on Monday (July 1).
With Leonard hailing from Los Angeles, most analysts figured he’d want to return to his home state and try his hand in the game there despite bringing Toronto its first championship and bringing a winning culture to the franchise.
Leonard, who just turned 28 a few days ago, is entering his prime and was already an elite player. If he does indeed head to Los Angeles, he’ll join an older but still capable LeBron James and talented big man Anthony Davis.
We’ve got reactions from the trending topic #KawhiToLA below.
Migos’ Quavo is all about his love for the game. The hip-hop superstar has acknowledged today’s free agency frenzy going down and playfully imagined himself signing a max contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith believes the Los Angeles Lakers are legit title contenders. The popular sports analyst has shared a huge PSA to everyone repping the purple and gold heading into the 2019-2020 NBA season.
The Los Angeles Lakers and their fans are heralding landing Anthony Davis in the purple and gold for the upcoming season. But if you hit up Master P and ask him about the deal he will tell you the New Orleans Pelicans are the clear winners of the trade.
“We got everything!,” the No Limit leader told TMZ Sports.
If you missed it, the LakeShow sent Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, the number four pick and more future draft selections to NOLA for AD.
The additions from the Lakers will be added to Zion Williamson who is presumably the number one overall pick by the Hornets in the NBA Draft on Thursday.
The Pelicans surely have more assets and weapons than before, however, the Lakers got the second superstar they needed to maximize the remaining years of LeBron James’ career. Seems like a win-win this way. But Master P said what he said. He has also expressed interest in signing Williamson to a sneaker deal. That likely will go to one of the sneaker titans and all sources are pointing toward Nike.
Check out the clip below and let us know if you think P’s hometown Pelicans got better than the LakeShow with the deal.
Magic Johnson hit ESPN’s First Take today (May 20) and it was an episode for the ages. Mostly because the former Los Angeles Lakers President of Basketball Operations proceeded to throw his old co-worker and the team’s GM Rob Pelinka under the bus.
Magic Johnson on backstabbing: "Just Rob. I wasn't having fun coming to work anymore, especially when I gotta work beside you, knowing that you want my position." pic.twitter.com/WkD1O4YGQn
The NBA legend confirmed that it was Pelinka who he considered the backstabber that made him quit his cushy gig a couple of months ago to everyone’s surprise, including LeBron James.
But first, Luke Walton also caught the smoke.
“The straw that broke the camel’s back was I wanted to fire Luke Walton,” said Johnson. “We had…three meetings. And I showed [Jeannie Bus] the things he did well and the things he didn’t do well. I said, ‘Listen, we got to get a better coach.’”
But, they wouldn’t let Magic axe Walton. Then, there was Pelinka, who Magic heard was talkin’ sh*t.
