Hollywood Cuts DEI Execs Following Affirmative Action Ruling

women

Last week the U.S. Supreme Court stuck down Affirmative Action in higher education when they reversed affirmative action after 62 years. The Supreme  set new limits on affirmative action programs in cases involving whether public and private colleges and universities can continue to use race as one factor among many in student admissions. After decades of fighting for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in films and television, both behind and in front of the camera, Hollywood is flipping the script.

In similar but unrelated news, four Diversity, Equity and Inclusion officers in Hollywood were fired the very next day.

Actress Yvette Nicole Brown took to her Instagram page and wrote:

In ONE day, FOUR talented, smart Black women lost their jobs — or “left on their own accord” in the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion space.

A day after #AffirmativeAction was gutted by the compromised and BOUGHT six GOP-chosen “Justices” #SupremeCourt

Actress Niecy Nash supported and reposted along with several others.

[WATCH] Blueface And Chrisean Rock Caught On Video Fighting In Hollywood

Screen Shot 2022 08 03 at 7.49.05 AM

These two are at it again.

Blueface and his girlfriend Chrisean Rock got into a serious, knockout, drag-out fight in the streets of Hollywood that has authorities from the LAPD looking for the couple to potentially file criminal charges.

When the police arrived on the scene, Blueface and Chrisean were nowhere to be found, but nevertheless, a crime report has started and the occurrence is officially under investigation. From the surveillance video, it appeared that Chrisean started the fight, grabbing Blueface by the shirt and yanking him back as he attempted to walk away from her.

Blueface then hits Rock in the head, knocking her to the ground and snatching off the chain around her neck. Chrisean then drags him by his shirt around the corner, where Blueface throws her against the wall and strikes her several times in the head and body.

Even though the two went home together and posted a video on social media, in which Blueface allegedly reveals what started the argument.

Once the LAPD’s investigation is complete, both Chrisean and Blueface could both be facing charges.

As spotted on Billboard Magazine the Queens native received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame on Thursday, January 30. In attendance were his former business partners Dr. Dre and Eminem. Fif spoke to their indelible contributions to his epic glow up and made sure to thank each of them in his speech.

“I don’t think my career would’ve been what it was without [Dr. Dre and Eminem’s] support,” he said. “Dre is a mentor for the whole squad. He was a mentor for the whole squad because he could guide us in different ways without even him knowing it.” Noticeably missing from the moment was former Interscope Records CEO Jimmy Iovine. Curtis acknowledged that he too should have been present. “I was wrong for not inviting him and not having him here today because he’s a big part of the success I had,” he confessed. “When he pointed at the TV, that’s when I started thinking, ‘I should do film and television.’”

Surprisingly Em also spoke and made it clear that the respect is there even though the two severed their business relationship many years ago. “I’m here today because he’s not only a business partner to me, this is one of the best friends I’ve known in the world” he revealed. “I’ll say it’s much more fun to be his friend than it is his enemy. He’s always been there when I needed him.”

70s Era Stripper ‘ Tanqueray’ Steals The Spotlight In Latest ‘Humans of New York’ Series

The ‘Humans of New York’ series on social media has been captivating readers with the unique stories of real New Yorkers for more than nine years but none kept fans wanting more like their latest three-part feature.

On Monday (Nov. 18) the first story from the colorful Black woman, an ex-stripper who goes by the name Tanqueray, hit the web, detailing her glamorous life during the 70’s and instantly left people asking that her viral story be turned into a movie or a memoir.

From tales of “making costumes for strippers and porn stars in Times Square” while at FIT to having tea about the sexual escapades of an unnamed former president; Taqueray has everyone hooked—including a few big names in Hollywood.

“My mom threw me out of the house at seventeen for getting pregnant, then had me arrested when I tried to get my clothes. Then she f**ked the head of parole to try to keep me in jail. She was some prime p***y back then. But the warden did some tests on me and found out I was smart, so I got a scholarship to go anywhere in New York. I chose the Fashion Institute of Technology, which I hated,” Taqueray said.

Despite being unhappy with the career selection, the blunt elder revealed that the choice led to her being around some of the most fabulous people and influential circles.

“By that time I was already getting work making costumes for the strippers and porn stars in Times Square. All my friends were gay people, because they never judged me. All I did was gay bars: drag queen contests, Crisco Disco, I loved the whole scene. And I couldn’t get enough of the costumes. My friend Paris used to sit at the bar and sell stolen clothes from Bergdorf and Lord and Taylors, back before they had sensor tags. So I had the best wardrobe: mink coats, 5 inch heels, stockings with seams up the back. I looked like a drag queen, honey. One night a Hasidic rabbi tried to pick me up because he thought I was a tranny. I had to tell him: ‘Baby, this is real fish!”

The second installment featured her detail in her life as a stripper during a time when Black people, especially women were severely underpaid-noting that she was the only Black woman making money on the same scale as a white woman.

“My stripper name was Tanqueray,” she continued. “Back in the seventies I was the only black girl making white girl money. I danced in so many mob clubs that I learned Italian. Black girls weren’t even allowed in some of these places. Nothing but guidos with their pinky rings and the one long fingernail they used for cocaine. I even did a full twenty minutes in the place they filmed Saturday Night Fever. But I made my real money on the road. Three grand on some trips. Every time Fort Dix had their pay day, they’d bring me in as a feature and call me ‘Ms. Black Universe’ or some sh*t like that.”

But nothing prepared fans for the final entry in her series where Tanqueray discusses the time she “turned a trick” for one of the most connected madams in New York City, Madam Blanche.

“I never turned tricks. Well, except for one time,” Tanqueray said. “I took a job from this woman named Madame Blanche. She controlled all the high dollar prostitutes back then. She was like the Internet– could get you anything you wanted. And all the powerful men came to her because she never talked. She set me up with a department store magnate who wanted a black girl dressed like a maid. I thought I could do it. But when I got to his hotel room, he wanted to spank me with a real belt. So that was it for me. I was done. But Madame Blanche set my best friend Vicki up with The President every time he came to New York. And don’t you dare write his name cause I can’t afford the lawyers. But he’d always spend an hour with her. He’d send a car to pick her up, bring her to his hotel room, put a Secret Service agent in front of the door, and get this: all he ever did was eat her p*ssy!”

The fascinating tale left fans petitioning for networks like BET and Netflix to adapt her life story into a film, even actress Jennifer Garner chimed in saying, “Why is this not a [Netflix] series?”

But I never used dildos on stage or any shit like that. Never fucked the booking agents. Never fucked the clients. In fact, one night after a show, I caught another dancer sneaking off to the Tate Hotel with our biggest tipper. Not allowed. So the next night we put a little itching powder in her G-string. Boy did she put on a show that night. Didn’t see her again until ‘The Longest Yard’ with Burt Reynolds. So I guess she finally fucked the right one.”

“The scene was different back then. All the adult clubs were mob controlled. It all flowed up to some guy named Matty The Horse. Honestly the mob guys never bothered me. They were cool, and I liked how they dressed. They wore custom made suits. And they went to hair stylists, not barbers. These guys wouldn’t even let you touch their hair when you were fucking them. Not that I ever fucked them. Because I never turned tricks. Well, except for one time. I took a job from this woman named Madame Blanche. She controlled all the high dollar prostitutes back then. ‘Jurassic World 3’ Will Have Some Familiar Faces From The 90’s

Laura Dern And Sam Neill In 'Jurassic Park'

Source: Universal Pictures / Getty

While 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom didn’t exactly experience the blockbuster success of it’s 2015 predecessor Jurassic World (which grossed close to $2 bilion worldwide) it was still enough to earn itself a threequel, and this time fans of the dinosaur amusement park franchise will be seeing some familiar faces thought long gone.

After having Jurassic Park OG Jeff Goldblum reprise his character of Dr. Ian Malcolm in last year’s installment of the resurrected film franchise, it has just been announced that a few more characters who were a part of the Jurassic Park story from the get-go will now be returning to the world they helped create.

In a tweet that went out this morning on Jurassic World’s Twitter page, fans were put on notice that Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler) and Sam Neil (Alan Grant) will be joining Jeff Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm as Jurassic Park alumni in the 2021 threequel to Jurassic World.

Given their age at this point you’d think they’d be easy meals for any carnivore running on two legs, but we’re pretty sure Universal Pictures won’t let them go out like that on the big screen given their fan-favorite status.

Are you excited to see these Jurassic Park OG’s return for the possibly finale to the multi-billion dollar dinosaur franchise? Let us know in the comments.

Lil Pwn Hits Hollywood to Help the Homeless

Taking up the “Feed the Homeless” challenge, Seattle hip-hop artist Lil Pwn put together classic American lunch bags with homemade ham and cheese sandwiches, juice boxes, fruit and twinkies. After they got all the food together, they hit skid row.

https://youtu.be/foO6b6cllAM

Since moving to his new home of Hollywood, California and seeing how bad the homeless problem was in downtown LA, Lil Pwn was compelled to help.

Lil Pwn is no stranger to poverty. Growing up in the neighborhood of Port Orchard in Seattle, an area with a dramatically high crime rate for the region and very low incomes, he can relate to the struggles of folks too poor to put food on the table.

Taking a few hours out of their day and a couple of dollars was all it took to make a difference in these peoples’ day. Showing support and kindness to the poor and disadvantaged is something we can all learn from, and it isn’t hard for everyday people to take up the Feed the Homeless challenge. All it takes is a couple of hours, and as Pwn showed in the video – only $42.00 to feed over a dozen people.

Vibe is reporting that Fif is set to receive his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2020. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame Selection Committee made the announcement of the talents who will be receiving the esteemed honors. Along with 50, Wendy Williams and Alicia Keys will also get a ceremony.

“This year’s choices were particularly unique. We were able to recognize the talents of 35 artists who have already built a legacy here in Hollywood,” Selection Committee Chair Vin Di Bona stated in a press release. “Also, we were able to celebrate many new talented artists who’ve touched our hearts in film, television, radio and a variety of musical categories.”

As expected the “I Get Money” rapper broke the story on Instagram in his own comedic way. “👀man this is some cool shit, ⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐🌟⭐😟Mom, I think I made it. LOL#lecheminduroi#bransoncognac”.

Jussie Smollett didn’t waste time getting back into the limelight after his alleged attack in Chicago by a reported pair of men who shouted racist and homophobic slurs. During a concert in Los Angeles, Smollett took to the stage ahead of his performance and eloquently stated that he “couldn’t let those motherf*ckers” win.

TMZ reports:

Jussie performed in WeHo at the famed Troubadour in front of a packed audience of 400 and generally addressed the incident in Chicago. He told the crowd he’s okay and still healing.

He asked for solidarity and the crowd was with him, as he said, “I’m going to stand strong with y’all.”

At the end of the show, Jussie lit up the stage with a call to action about being black, being gay and being proud. The crowd went absolutely wild.

Chicago police are still investigating the attack and Smollett says he is cooperating with the authorities in order to bring his attackers to justice.

Issa Rae Inks Multi-Picture Production Deal With Columbia Pictures

The Hollywood Chamber's 7th Annual State Of The Entertainment Industry Conference Presented By Variety

Source: Presley Ann / Getty

Issa Rae has already captured the minds and eyes of audiences for her hilarious HBO series Insecure, and now she’s angling to become a major player in Hollywood. Rae recently inked a multi-picture production deal with Columbia Pictures which will give screenwriters of diverse backgrounds new opportunities.

Variety exclusively reports:

Issa Rae’s production company, ColorCreative, has signed a multi-picture production deal with Columbia Pictures. The pact is unique in that under the agreement, ColorCreative will work with and back projects from emerging, diverse screenwriters.

The move comes as the entertainment industry is under pressure to develop films and shows that feature underrepresented talent both in front of and behind the camera. There’s a lot of room for improvement. Films such as “Black Panther” and “Crazy Rich Asians” have demonstrated the commercial appeal of movies with minority leads, but they remain the exception, not the rule. A recent USC study found that only 29.3% of characters in the 100 top grossing movies of 2017 were from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.

Rae is best known for creating, co-writing, and starring in the HBO series “Insecure.” Selected participants, to be announced in the spring of 2019, will work with Rae and the studio to develop and write features based on their original ideas.

Just another bag secured for the talented Issa Rae.
