Making a monumental power move, VERZUZ—the online award-winning, multi-media platform launched by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland—has cemented an exclusive partnership with X for distribution. Swizz and Timbaland personally broke the news at an activation in Cannes, France today.

Earlier this year, Swizz and Timbaland reacquired VERZUZ from previous partner Triller, now owning 100% of the platform, while retaining their equity (along with the artists who participated in VERZUZ) in Triller. Upon resuming complete control, they sought out the perfect channel for independent distribution.

The partnership journey with X has now begun!

Together, the companies orchestrated a mutually beneficial alliance where Swizz and Timbaland maintain their full ownership and creative control, while X receives exclusive distribution rights. As a result, VERZUZ will now broadcast to an audience of over 550 million active users, exponentially expanding its viewership and international reach like never before. Since the inception of VERZUZ, the conversations around each VERZUZ naturally evolved on from fans and enthusiasts alike. Viewers will now be able to watch for FREE exclusively on X, bringing the visual series, and viral conversation, all to one platform! Stay tuned for the announcement of the next VERZUZ matchup coming soon.

About this chapter, Swizz stated, “We are beyond thrilled to have found the best partner for Verzuz. Not only are we excited to have Verzuz on X, we’re excited to help X build the biggest entertainment company in the world. I would like to thank Elon Musk, Linda Yaccarino, Brett Weitz, Mitchell Smith and the entire X team for believing in the Verzuz vision. We can’t wait to get to work.”

Timbaland added, “We are thrilled to partner with X, the most innovative platform globally. Our goal has always been to bring Verzuz to the world which we can now do bigger than ever.”

As they have since the first VERZUZ, the founders uplift the culture and community into the spotlight in the center of the world’s stage. However, they preserve the same grit, honor, authenticity, and integrity that makes hip-hop, rap, R&B, soul and ALL genres of music so special. They have the opportunity to magnify its resonance, thanks to Elon Musk, Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, and the entire X team championing their unfiltered voices.

Linda Yaccarino stated, “X is so proud to partner with trailblazing creators, artists, and entrepreneurs Swizz Beatz & Timbaland. Our platform stands at the forefront of innovation, and Verzuz defines the essence of an innovative content experience. As we continue to work with the most exciting voices to bring premium content to X, there is no better fit than this series. Together we will redefine how consumers engage with their favorite entertainment, one Verzuz at a time.”

VERZUZ has partnered with Uncontained Media, led by Christian Sarabia, and Raymond Garcia. Together, they have produced multiple hit shows including Emmy Winner DRIVE WITH SWIZZ BEATZ and will serve as the production company and Executive Producers of VERZUZ.

The influence and impact of VERZUZ has proven to be undeniable. So far, it has produced over 40 episodes, generating 100 million-plus live views and over 70 billion impressions. It has naturally encompassed other verticals with VERZUZ SPORTS, and VERZUZ COMEDY, all which play well to some of the most highly engaged communities on X. Not to mention, the power of the #VERZUZEFFECT cannot be overstated. Every artist that has participated in a VERZUZ have seen dramatic increases in streaming, ticket sales, merchandise, and overall revenue from just one appearance.

Triller Responds To $28M Verzuz Lawsuit: Swizz And Tim Have Been Personally Paid Over $50 Million In Cash

Screen Shot 2022 08 17 at 9.03.29 AM

Less than a day following the news that Swizz Beatz and Timbaland were suing Triller to the tune of $28 million for breach of contract concerning the Verzuz platform, the company has responded with a statement, saying that not only have Swizz Beatz and Timbaland already been paid an overwhelming amount, but also the two super producers have not yet met the additional requirements to receive the remaining balance.

TMZ first reported that the TikTok rival was firing back at Swizz and TIm, saying that their agreement with Triller is far different than how it is being presented to the public. “This is not a feud over Verzuz, but simply about earn-out payments to Swizz and Tim,” said Triller’s official statement. “Swizz and Tim have personally been paid by Triller over $50 million in cash and stock to-date, and they stand to benefit even more over time. In addition, they have annual obligations, which if met, and no breach has occurred, entitles them to additional payments.”

Triller continued with claims that Swizz and Timbaland have not met the terms of their initial agreement:

“Only one payment of $10 million is in question. We do not believe they have met the thresholds for that payment yet, which include, but are not limited to, delivery of a set number of Verzuz events for 2022. We have been trying to resolve this amicably and this does not affect Verzuz operations or Triller’s ownership of Verzuz. If this does proceed in court, we look forward to a judgment that weighs all the facts.”

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s lawsuit reads “To date, Defendants have failed and refused to make any payment to [Swizz Beatz and Timbaland] of the past due sums due and owing.”

To the dismay of many fans, Verzuz was sold to Triller in January 2021.

Swizz Beatz And Timbaland Sue Triller For $28M In Verzuz Lawsuit

Screen Shot 2022 08 17 at 9.03.29 AM

After creating an unprecedented platform for established artists and their fans during the pandemic, Swizz Beatz and TImbaland are suing Triller for their intellectual property to the tune of eight figures.

The two super producers claim that they were never paid by Triller, the now world famous video-sharing social networking service, for their Verzuz concept that Triller now owns. According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Swizz and Timbaland sold Verzuz to Triller back in January 2021, but Triller defaulted on the deal after making just two payments.

The two producers claim that they settled with Triller after the first default payment, but the company once again made an installment payment and didn’t pay the remaining balance.

Swizz and Timbaland are now seeking $28 million dollars in damages from Triller plus interest. Triller has yet to respond to the lawsuit.

[WATCH] B-Real Says Cypress Hill and Onyx Got “Shorted” by Verzuz

Screen Shot 2022 05 18 at 9.17.38 AM

With all of the fanfare surrounding the previous VERZUZ battles, it was anticipated that the face-off between two of the most iconic Hip Hop groups to date, Onyx, and Cypress Hill, would be one for the history books. Still, instead, Triller didn’t even broadcast the battle live on their IG page as was done with the previous, unprecedented shows. CH’s B-Real says the two legendary groups got played by the sponsors, and he wants answers.

The battle, which was held this past weekend in Los Angeles at The Forum, was not streamed on Instagram but instead offered up on PPV to those who wanted to see Sticky Fingaz, Fredro and Co. go up against B-Real, Sen Dog, and Muggs if you were willing to pay. Allegedly, this was because there were many boxing matches on the card, but B-Real says that is a poor excuse for not laying out the red carpet for these two award-winning groups.

“I have to say, although it was great to rock w/ our brothers @ONYX_HQ in the Verzuz battle, I feel like [VERZUZ] shorted us all by not running it on Ig live like all other battles,” he wrote. “They made it a ppv event & made the battle a side show for the boxing matches instead. IMO.”

See what B-Real had to say below.
