Actor Lakeith Stanfield Calls Out Lil Wayne Over George Floyd Comments

Many celebrities have recently been scolded by people on social media for their lack of support for the protests. Other celebrities have been scolded for basically saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. That’s the category Lil Wayne falls into.

A couple of days ago on an Instagram live broadcast with Fat Joe, he and Lil Wayne discussed the murder of George Floyd and the protests across the country. While people directed their anger towards the police, Wayne thought that the anger and violence should have been directed somewhere else.

“I think when we see these situations, I think we also have to understand that we have to get very specific. And what I mean by that is we have to stop viewing it with such a broad view, meaning we have to stop placing the blame on the whole force and the whole everybody or a certain race or everybody with a badge,” Wayne told Fat Joe. “We have to actually get into who that person is. And if we want to place the blame on anybody, it should be ourselves for not doing more than what we think we’re doing.”

Wayne’s comments sparked outrage on social media, and yesterday, Uncut Gems and The Photograph actor, Lakeith Stanfield, took to IG to scold Wayne as well.

In a now-deleted IG post, Stanfield posts a black and white picture of police officers at what seems to be a civil rights protest, with the caption, “Wayne stfu.”

‘Untold Stories of Hip Hop’ Set to Air Special Quarantine Edition

Summer hip-hop concerts may have been put on hold, but the stories will continue as WE tv’s Untold Stories of Hip Hop: In Quarantine will air a special extension episode on Thursday, May 28th.

Hosted by legendary hip-hop artist and radio host Angie Martinez, will focus on how some of the industry’s hottest stars are navigating the current situation of quarantine and social distancing like the rest of us.

Some of the show’s staple stars, including Fat Joe, Ja Rule, Nelly, and more, are expected to join Martinez as they look back at their original, illuminating interviews, catch up on what’s happened in their lives and careers since then and during the recent pandemic and quarantine, and reveal new untold stories along the way.

The special episode is expected to follow the show’s traditional format in which Martinez invites friends from the hip-hop industry and pop culture to join her over drinks, games, and more, as they dish on the industry’s never-before-heard stories of what went down behind the scenes.

While Martinez will not be able to host her guests in person, the special will be held as a virtual viewing party using Zoom technology. Martinez and her guests are  also expected to be virtually joined by celeb fans eager to share their own takes on what went down.

During season one, Untold Stories of Hip Hop featured never-before-told tales from the biggest names in hip hop, including interviews with Cardi B, Snoop Dogg, Queen Latifah, Ice Cube, Nelly, A$AP Rocky, DJ Khaled, Wyclef Jean, and more icons and upcoming artists.

Fat Joe: I Don’t Think Anyone Can F*** With Eminem In Verzuz Battle

While choppin’ it up on the Drink Champs livestream with N.O.R.E., DJ EFN and Lenny S about the possibility of a DMX vs. Eminem Verzuz battle, Fat Joe made his opinion very clear cut; nobody can eff with Mr. Mathers.

At the 20:00 mark of the video below, the matchup between Dark Man Unknown and Slim Shady became a subject to which the Terror Squad general quickly interjected, “I don’t think nobody can fuck with Eminem.”

He went on to say, “DMX got the biggest hits in the world, one of the greatest rappers of all time. Legendary, iconic, superhero. And everything I’m saying is understating, he’s bigger than that. But there’s something about that white boy and his fans—nah bro, you want to see something cracking the internet? That n***a David Koresh, that n***a different!”

He also explains why Em’s race plays a big part in his success. “These white people teach their kids that Eminem is the greatest. You go to the airports and 10-year-olds are playing his sh*t. … There’s a big difference with his boy. When you say generational wealth, they keep teaching their kids that he’s the man to the ultimate science.”

Epic Finish

Last night’s finale capped off an epic run of broadcasts. For the past few weeks, ESPN has aired two episodes of “The Last Dance” centered on Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls.

What will be the legacy of “The Last Dance”? ESPN’s 10-part documentary series about Michael Jordan and the 1990s Chicago Bulls concluded on Sunday night, offering unprecedented access to one of the greatest dynasties and players of all time. With the NBA season on hold, Jordan and that era of basketball helped fill the void. (ESPN)

Wait, There’s More

Last night’s finale also delivered a huge shocker. Jordan revealed he would have come back for a one-year deal to try and win another championship in the 1998-1999 NBA season.

“If you asked all the guys who would have won in ’98, Steve Kerr, Jud Buechler. … We gave you a one-year contract to try for the seventh. Do you think they would have signed it? Yes, they would have signed it. Would I have signed for one year? Yes, I would have signed for one year. I had been signing one-year contracts up to then. Would Phil have done it? Yes.” (“TLD”)

Before You Go

After Sunday night’s broadcast, a couple ESPN personalities recapped the multi-week run and spoke to director Jason Hehir.
