Snoop Dogg: Jay-Z Threatened to End NFL Partnership For Halftime Show

Screen Shot 2022 03 06 at 1.24.51 PM

Super Bowl LVI and more specifically, its halftime show, was probably the most publicized and talked about sports finale show to date. The show featured Snoop, Dr .Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and many more however according to the Dogg, jay-Z almost closed the curtains on the entire show and Hip Hop’s partnership with the NFL.

Snoop affirmed that Hov gave the execs in the NFL a simple ultimatum, which obviously forced them to do what he wanted. “[Jay-Z and I] we love each other,” Snoop said in a Tidal interview. “It is what it is, so it’s like for him to go to bat for us and tell the NFL, ‘F**k that. They perform, or I quit,’ that was the most gangster s**t out of everything.”

He also added that when it came to him rocking his favorite true blue colors, it was insinuated that Snoop Dogg was wearing gang affiliated colors as the world watch the most watched television program of the entire year, but Jay told him to wear whatever he wanted.

“Then with attire and kneeling and all this … you can’t wear your gang bang sh*t? JAY-Z hit me like, ‘Wear what the f**k you want to wear. Peace to the Gods.’, Snoop added.

Is this the future of the Super Bowl and possibly other sports finals and All Star games? Will the shows and fanfare take precedence over the actual game? Only time will tell.

Hip Hop’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Only Draws 33 FCC Complaints Less Than Past Shows

deaf rappers super bowl halftime show

The FCC says this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show only brought in 33 complaints from viewers. This year’s historic performance saw Hip Hop icons Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent, and Eminem share the stage with R&B Queen Mary J. Blige.

The set kicked off with Dr. Dre sitting at an enormous mixing board before “The Next Episode” kicked off sending the stadium into an uproar.

One viewer criticized the “scantily clad female dancers who belong in a strip club not on national TV.”

Another Super Bowl LVI viewer called 50 Cent’s surprise set “trash” that included “slutty looking women dancing near stripper poles.”

However, the number of complaints was down drastically from the 2020 performance that featured Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. About 1300 viewers filed complaints following their performance at Super Bowl 54.

Yahoo News reports, more than 540,000 complaints were made to the FCC when Janet Jackson suffered an infamous “wardrobe malfunction” and her breast was exposed, leading to a $550,000 fine for CBS and MTV, which was eventually dismissed.

Numbers don’t lie. We’re all looking to see more diverse music displayed in the future. Share your thoughts on social media.

NFL Denies Reports of Trying to Stop Eminem From Kneeling During Super Bowl Performance

nfl denies

Many are still coming down from a high following this past weekend’s Super Bowl Sunday. While some are still raving over the Rams taking home this year’s ring, others are still talking about this year’s electrifying halftime performance.

This year’s halftime show was headlined by Compton’s very own, Dr.DRE, accompanied by Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blidge, 50 Cent, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar. Each artist had a magnificent performance as fans sang and danced to some of their classic singles.

Speaking of classics, Eminem performed his classic single, “Lose Yourself” as his closing song before taking a kneel on stage. The move paid tribute to former Quarterback star, Colin Kaepernick, who took a knee in 2016 during the national anthem to protest against the obvious, yet ignored, acts of police brutality that took place during that time. Following the show, many reports stated that the NFL specifically requested that the artist avoid taking a kneel on their platform.

Despite the mass attention this narrative drew, the NFL denies ever attempting to stop Eminem from taking the stance. “We watched all elements of the show during multiple rehearsals this week and were aware that Eminem was going to do that,” Brian McCarthy, league spokesman states.

“A player or coach could have taken a knee and there would have been no repercussions, so there was no reason to tell an artist she or he could not do so,” he added.

Neither Kaepernick nor Eminem have publicly commented on the performance.

Eminem Declares Kendrick Lamar as The Greatest Lyricist of All-time

Kendrick Lamar Announces The Production of His Final TDE Album: 'There's Beauty In Completion'

Eminem is known for his extreme word play, and it’s astonishing for him to say someone else is better. During in interview with hip-hop media mogul, Sway, the Detroit rapper did just that. Em crown Kendrick Lamar as the greatest lyricist of all-time.

Sway asked Eminem if he agrees that Kendrick is “the most electrifying vocalist of this generation,” Em replied, “I absolutely would agree. Kendrick is at the very top, top tier of lyricists — not just of this generation, but of all time.”

This news isn’t quite new. Eminem’s affinity for Kendrick’s lyrics have always been publicly noticed. He told the New York Times, that he’s always loved Kendrick on the mic.

“I love Kendrick Lamar,” he told Em told the Times in 2015. “The way he puts albums together — front to back, they’re like pieces of art.”

Em also praised Kendrick in an interview with Genius. “When I first heard Kendrick’s debut on Aftermath, I couldn’t believe it. The fact that it was his first real album and he was able to make it into a story which intertwines with the skits like that was genius.”

Em and K.Dot have collaborated in the past. They did it in 2013 on Eminem’s Marshall Mathers LP 2 track “Love Game.” Both of the rappers are also signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment.

Also both rappers are taking the halftime stage during the biggest game in the country. Kendrick Lamar will join Eminem along with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and more.

And for Kendrick, fans are still anticipating his new single, which is set to drop before his half time show. It’s uncertain when Eminem is dropping music, but its good to see the support in hip-hop.

Ebro Confirms Kendrick Lamar Will Drop A Single Before The Super Bowl

Isaiah Rashad Confirms Kendrick Lamar is Working on New Music

After taking a brief hiatus from the booth, Kendrick Lamar is returning with avenges. First, he’s doing a halftime performance at the nation’s biggest games, Super Bowl LVI, and now he’s returning with new music.

Music media personel Ebro Darden broke the news. On Wednesday’s episode of Rap Life Review on Apple Music, Ebro read a note from the show’s producer, Sasha, which stated that the Compton rapper is dropping on Friday.

“What I’m reading here provided by our producer Sasha… the way this reads, it sounds like it’s confirmed that we will get a single from Kendrick Lamar before his performance,” said Ebro on the show. He then added, “with the release of his single to be debuted ahead of the performance.”

It’s uncertain if this single is leading up to a new album from K.Dot, but in 2021, Kendrick said that he will be producing his last TDE album.

It’s doing hip-hop justice just getting new music from Kendrick. It’s a classic every time he drops.

Kendrick’s last album came in 2017, Damn, which won him a Pulitzer Prize for Music. Since then, Lamar executive produced the Black Panther soundtrack.

His album before that came in 2015, To Pimp a Butterfly. The jazz- and funk-inspired album hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top Rap Albums charts and spent 125 and 79 weeks on each, respectively. The album went on to earn 11 Grammy nominations — including for album and song of the year.

And let’s not forget his first album, good kid, m.A.A.d. city. The albumdebuted and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboards Top Album Sales chart dated Nov. 10, 2012, and now spent 450 weeks on the Billboard 200. It’s currently the longest-charting hip-hop studio album in history.

Continue the conversation on social media.
