Remy Ma Seemingly Defends R.Kelly, Twitter Attacks

Remy Ma Defends R Kelly

The latest episode of Revolt’s Joe Budden hosted talk show State of The Culture has been the subject of heated debate. Earlier in the week, Budden came under fire for what was seen as an apparent misogynistic take to co-host Scottie Beams feminist stance.

Now it’s Remy’s turn to feel Twitter’s wrath and deservingly so.

The “Conceited” rapper is getting dragged on social media for defending the king of R&Pee R.Kelly. Remy already caught flack for defending Pill Cosby, and now she chose another ridiculous hill to die on. While discussing the upcoming Lifetime docu-series Surviving R.Kelly, she tried her best to defend Kelly by ridiculously pointing out “rapists don’t eat a**,” there are a lot of young women who sleep with older men, and the women in living with him are not complaining.

Twitter immediately wondered if Remy was dumb for even attempting to go this route when it’s obvious Kelly has a serious problem. Whether this is her angle on the show, it’s just not a good look and is quite hypocritical of the for to take such a stance when she called out Nicki Minaj for defending her pedophile brother.

R. Kelly will have his defenders as long as his fans keeping supporting the fact he made a decent amount of two-step and slow jams in his long career, but it hasn’t stopped the dark side of his life from coming to the light. In an upcoming docu-series from Lifetime, some of the beleaguered R&B crooner‘s alleged victims band together to tell their sides of the story and the abuse they suffered at Kelly’s hands.

Rolling Stone reports:

The clip contrasts Kelly’s smooth stage persona with the myriad lawsuits, charges and claims against the musician – including the allegations that he’s held women against their will in a sex cult. “There’s a difference between R. Kelly and Robert. R. Kelly’s this fun, laughing, loving guy,” one woman narrates in the clip. “But Robert…is the devil.” Other interview subjects refer to the singer as a “puppet master” and a “monster.”

Surviving R. Kelly traces the vocalist’s controversial past from 1970 to the present day, highlighting numerous abuse accusations of underage African-American girls. The project includes over 50 interviews, including spots from John Legend, R&B artist Sparkle, talk show host Wendy Williams and civil rights activist Tarana Burke. Kelly’s ex-wife Andrea Kelly, ex-girlfriend Kitti Jones and brothers Carey and Bruce also participated in the doc.

R. Kelly and the continuing emergence of the alleged abuse he’s enacted against women knocks him down lower each time new details come out. Kelly’s ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, says she believes her ex-husband’s several accusers because of suffering her own abuse at the hands of the singer during a sit-down with The View.

New York Post reports:

“You cannot not speak when someone’s life and what they’ve been through is parallel to yours,” Andrea Kelly said on “The View” on Thursday. “I wanted to bring validity to these women’s stories.”

Andrea, 44, and the singer, 51, were married from 1996 to 2009. Throughout the years, he has been accused of various sexual abuse allegations, including possessing child pornography, sexual contact with teenagers, and, most recently, holding women hostage in his home. He has denied the allegations.

Andrea recounted harrowing memories from their marriage, including him hogtying her in their bedroom and attacking her in the backseat of a Hummer to the point where she thought she would die.

In the chat, Andrea Kelly reveals the disturbing details of how R. Kelly was choking her in the vehicle and begging for her life. The outlet also points out that one of the couple’s three children convinced her to finally leave.

[Watch] Nivea Talks Motherhood, Career and New Music in New Mini-Doc

In the early 2000s, Nivea’s voice seemingly battled with Ashanti over who was controlling the airwaves. Now in 2018, Nivea is making a comeback but not after letting fans know exactly why it’s been so long.

On Friday (Sept 21), BET released the Finding Nivea mini-documentary that allowed the former Hip-Hop/Pop Princess to tell her story leading to her road to success.

“I started singing and trying to get a deal at 14. From 14 to 18 I was hopping from place to place to get on any hook I could. I finally put together a demo with like 36 songs from all the hooks I did and we took it to New York.”

Nivea also talked about her engagement to Lil’ Wayne and how the Young Money head honcho used his industry muscle to woo her.

“I met Wayne when I started taking off after the hit with Mystikal and Lil Wayne called my label and said he wanted to do a song together. When I got to the studio he told me he lied and wanted my number [laughs]. He would come to my shows and sit in the front row. We were so in love because it was like finding someone who understood you because we were both young in the industry.

Nivea also revealed that her choice to be a full-time mother is what halted her career.

“I love my kids, they are my air. If I would have gotten a nanny or sent them to boarding school like I was told, yes my career would be as big as their fathers but I have to be at PTA meetings, I have never missed a meeting ever for years. Wayne and Dream can’t come, so I have to, but now that they are older I am going to start making music again. I’ve already come up with a concept and it will be a dual disc. One side will be my face made up with long weave and it will be called Mirrors and it will feature me being real about my life like I am now. The other side will feature me without makeup and with my natural hair and I will call that Randy Watson because that’s my alter-ego [laughs].
