Rihanna’s New Single “Lift Me Up” is Written as a Tribute to Chadwick Boseman

Rihanna's New Single "Lift Me Up" is Written as a Tribute to Chadwick Boseman

This Friday, with the release of “Lift Me Up,” the first single from the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever original soundtrack, Rihanna makes her much-awaited radio comeback.

Tems, Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson, Rihanna, and Ryan Coogler collaborated on the song “Lift Me Up” as a homage to Chadwick Boseman’s incredible life and legacy. The song was produced by Göransson and was recorded in five different nations.

“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them,” said Tems. “Rihanna has been an inspiration to me so hearing her convey this song is a great honor.”

The debut of “Lift Me Up” marks the beginning of the next phase of Rihanna’s legendary career. This Friday, Oct. 28th, “Lift Me Up” will be made available through Rihanna’s own Westbury Road label in collaboration with Roc Nation, Def Jam Recordings, and Hollywood Records.

You can see the teaser for the single released by Marvel below.

HHW Gaming: ‘Mortal Kombat’ & ‘Injustice’ Studio Working On New Marvel Fighting Game: Report

NetherRealm Studios Reportedly Working On New Marvel Fighting Game

Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz83

A new Marvel-based fighting game? Made by the same studio that brought us Mortal Kombat 11 and Injustice? WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT.

According to the digital grapevine, a new Marvel fighting game is in the works, and NetherRealm Studio is allegedly behind it.  If this is indeed the case, it will be the first game since 2017’s Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and would mean that NetherRealm is not currently working on the follow-up to Injustice 2: Gods Among Us.

The report comes from Daniel Richtman (via Stealth Optional) and doesn’t bear much in the form of details, so please take all of this with the tiniest grain of salt while at the same time being excited at the possibility that such a game could exist. Richtman says that the game is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and possibly PC. There is a solid chance that PS4 and Xbox One owners won’t even get a chance to stiff this game.

For those who have been thirsting for Injustice 3, this news might not sit well with you because it means NetherRealm is putting all of its focus into this rumored Marvel game. But, Comicbook.com is adding more fuel to the fire by suggesting there is a slight possibility that NetherRealm could be working on a Marvel vs. DC fighting game.

That would be crazy.

Again, this is just mere speculation, but something definitely worth keeping in the back of your mind. Crazier things have happened.

BREAKING: Black Panther Star Chadwick Boseman Dies At 43

Black Panther

Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman has reportedly died at the age of 43 following a battle with cancer. Reports claim he passed away Friday night at his home in California.

Chadwick Boseman Dies At 43

According to reports, Boseman lost a battle with colon cancer. His camp claimed he was diagnosed 4 years ago.

Actor Chadwick Boseman, who played Black icons Jackie Robinson and James Brown before finding fame as the regal Black Panther in the Marvel cinematic universe, died Friday of cancer, his representative said. He was 43. Boseman died at his home in the Los Angeles area with his wife and family by his side, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told The Associated Press. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)

High-Key Details

Boseman’s family has issued a statement discussing his life and cinematic legacy.

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said in the statement. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more- all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.” (Statement)

Chadwick’s social media pages also confirmed his unexpected and shocking death.

Wait, There’s More

UGK’s Bun B immediately went to his Instagram page to react to the tragic Boseman news.

“Bruh. Worst. Year. Ever. Condolences to his family and friends. Throw the whole damn year away.” -Bun B’s Instagram

“This hurts💔sleep in peace King. Just an amazing individual all around 😢”

Before You Go

In April 2020, social media shared concerns about Chadwick’s health. People went online to weigh-in on pictures of Boseman looking skinnier than usual.

“Chadwick Boseman is definitely on his 50 Cent sh*t” –Twitter

However, some people thought Twitter overrated. One user said Chadwick was naturally skinny.

“I think Chadwick Boseman is just naturally a skinnier guy and just gains weight for certain roles. Here’s a pic of him from 12/2019. Overall I don’t think he wants his Instagram flooded with comments telling him to eat some food”

Peep The Latest Full Length Trailer To Marvel’s ‘Black Widow’

Black Widow poster

Source: Marvel Studios / Disney

It really felt like after Avengers: Endgame, interest in the Black Widow solo film would be lukewarm at best. But if the latest trailer teaches us anything it’s that we can never underestimate Marvel’s ability to build up the hype.

After dropping a teaser for the Avengers spinoff film starring Scarlett Johansson a few weeks back, Marvel has dropped it’s latest full length trailer for Black Widow and it seems like a hit. Taking place between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, the film finds Natasha Romanoff returning home to her family with the intentions of taking down the syndicate that turned her and her sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) into the master assassins they are.

Joined by The Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz), Black Widow and her fam set out to take on the Taskmaster and his stable of highly trained female assassins who could care less about Widow’s OG status.

While the trailer seems to show a movie that’s gonna be lit AF, it’s the rumors surrounding the film that’s going to put butts in the seats. Everything from the movie introducing the notion of “Mutants” to the MCU to the whole theory that the Black Widow in the last two Avengers film was actually Yelena Belova via the whole Face/off operation that turned John Travolta into Nicholas Cage and vice versa, the anticipation of what Black Widow will reveal has the internet going nuts these days. Lets not forget that no one knows who’ll Taskmaster will turn out to be. No actor is listed to be the man behind the mask, so that should be an interesting reveal.

Peep the latest trailer to Black Widow below and let us know if you’ll be checking it out come May 1.

Samuel L. Jackson Smacks Down Martin Scorsese’s Marvel Films Critique

Tyler Perry Studios Grand Opening Gala

Samuel L. Jackson has become a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury, and the veteran actor had smoke for one of Hollywood’s top filmmakers. After Martin Scorsese said that Marvel films aren’t real cinema, Jackson smacked down the critique and spoke for the millions of fans worldwide who think otherwise.

Talking with Variety from the red carpet at the grand opening of Tyler Perry’s massive studio operation in Atlanta, Ga., the straight-shooting actor didn’t mince words when replying to Scorsese’s view of the MCU.

“I mean that’s like saying Bugs Bunny ain’t funny. Films are films. Everybody doesn’t like his stuff either,” Jackson said. “Everybody’s got an opinion, so I mean it’s okay. Ain’t going to stop nobody from making movies.”

Scorsese was quoted in a recent sitdown with Esquire to discuss his latest film The Irishman, comparing Marvel films to theme parks.

Check out Jackson’s comments below.

Marvel Celebrates 80th Anniversary With Exclusive Footlocker & adidas Collaboration

Marvel x Footlocker x adidas Sneakers

Source: Footlocker / Footlocker

From filing for bankruptcy in 1996 to becoming one a billion-dollar conglomerate, Marvel Comics has gone through hell and back to claim the throne that DC and other comic book companies only dream of sniffing.

This year marks Marvel Comics 80th anniversary in existence and to help them commemorate that feat, Foot Locker and adidas have teamed up with the house that Stan Lee built (R.I.P) to drop some exclusive footwear that’ll make any comic book fan proud to step in.

Taking their popular adidas SPEEDFACTORY AM4 models and remixing them with the help of comic artist OG and current Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada to create two exclusive Marvel Comics draped silhouettes dubbed the “Marvel x Foot Locker x adidas AM4 Marvel 80 Vol. 1” and the “Marvel x Foot Locker x adidas AM4 Marvel 80 Vol. 2.”

It’s going to be hard for true Marvel fans to choose between the two as the Marvel 80 Vol. 1 features some of your favorite superheroes such as Spidey and Iron Man covering one pair while Vol. 2 keeps it a bit more simple with a huge Marvel logo draped on the sides of the kicks. These joints go hard either way.

Quesada for his part had a blast designing the joints saying, “some of the true joys of my career at Marvel are all the unique opportunities that have come my way, things that I could never have anticipated being a part of like creating two different, exclusive sneaker designs for adidas and Foot Locker celebrating Marvel’s 80th anniversary. I had such a blast designing them and I hope Marvel and Adidas fans have as much fun wearing them.”

Unfortunately, these are said to be limited edition with Foot Locker’s 34th Street Herald Square location in New York City getting first dibs on sales this October 4 and Footlocker.com re-upping later on, on October 18.

Check out pics of the kicks below and let us know if you’ll be checking for these at the tune of $160. That’s a steal if you ask us. But we loves Marvel so….

Crisis Averted: Sony & Disney Make Up, ‘Spider-Man 3’ Movie Announced

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Source: JoJo Whilden / Sony Pictures

A crisis of magnanimous proportions has been averted. Today (Sept. 27), Sony and Disney (Marvel’s parent company) announced that they have essentially made up and Spider-Man will remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after all.

Variety reports that the companies have jointly announced that Marvel Studios will produce a third film in the Spider-Man: Homecoming series, and Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Back in August, Sony caught most of the slander when it was revealed that there was a deadlock in negotiations between the brand that makes the Playstation and Marvel over the character’s rights and financing, threatening Spider-Man tenure in the MCU.

Disney wanted the film to be financed 50/50, while Sony wanted the current deal where Marvel gets about 5% of the gross and all merchandising loot. However, per Variety, a deal was signed Thursday (Sept. 26), and according to sources, Marvel and Disney will receive about 25% of the profits while Marvel President Kevin Fiege will continue to serve as a producer.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” said Feige via a press statement. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Wait, Sony is still rocking with their own Spider-verse? Maybe the Venom flicks can be salvaged after all, no shots.

Wait, When?: ‘Black Panther 2’ Hits Theaters In 2022

Disney Studios Showcase Presentation At D23 Expo, Saturday August 24

Source: Jesse Grant / Getty

Our return to Wakanda is going to take a long minute. Yesterday (August 24) at Disney’s D23 EXPO 2019 in Anaheim, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler revealed that the highly anticipated follow up to his blockbuster is due in theaters in May 2022.

That would be May 6, 2022 specifically.

Bruh, that’s damn near THREE years away!

“We’re not taking our time, we’re really trying to get it right,: said Coogler.

Word is Coogler has already delivered a treatment and title to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, but neither gave up the details—including who will be the film’s villain.

The rumor mill, thanks to General Okoye’s commentary in Avengers: Endgame, is that the villain is likely to be Namor the Submariner.

But seriously, can we move that release date up?
