‘Start with Sneakers’ aims to showcase the season’s new trends by demonstrating that sneakers are the foundation for countless fashionable outfits and styles. In the latest installment, titled ‘The Striper Within,’ Flo Milli models kicks-inspired New Balance outfits while embodying the campaign’s message of starting styling with sneakers. The campaign highlights Foot Locker’s range of options for women, from classic New Balance sneakers to the latest innovations, catering to every style and occasion.

The ‘Start with Sneakers’ campaign rollout will continue throughout the summer, featuring previous brand ambassador Coi Leray, upcoming in-person activations, and more. This campaign follows Foot Locker’s recent announcement of a reinvented store concept, including an enhanced in-store shopping experience for women, reinforcing its commitment to serving its diverse customer base.

Chaka Khan Captivates Tiny Desk with Soulful Performance

Chaka Khan, the “Queen of Funk,” delighted fans at the Tiny Desk with a rendition of her hit “Sweet Thing,” where the audience’s enthusiastic participation underscored her enduring influence on music. Emerging in the 1970s with the funk band Rufus, Khan’s career boasts 22 albums, 10 Grammy Awards, and collaborations with icons like Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Quincy Jones. Her 50-year journey in the music industry was recently celebrated with her 2023 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The performance began with guitarist Rob Bacon on the talk box, accompanied by bassist Melvin Davis and drummer Jay Williams, setting the stage for a funky rendition of “Tell Me Something Good.” The office audience couldn’t resist grooving to classics like “What Cha’ Gonna Do For Me” and “Ain’t Nobody.” Tiffany Smith, one of Khan’s backing vocalists, was impressed with her delivery of the challenging moments in “Sweet Thing.”

To close the show, Khan performed “I’m Every Woman,” an anthem written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson that has empowered women for decades. The song was a perfect finale for a month celebrating Black women’s contributions to music, showcasing Khan’s powerful voice and timeless appeal.

The Migos are bringing the trap to NPR. On Wednesday, the trio appeared on the latest installment of NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) concert series. The concert series is known for their striped down, intimate setting, live performances.

In the YouTube clip, the Migos performed three tracks from their Culture III album including “Straightenin,” “Birthday,” and “Avalanche.”

The production value raised with legendary producer collective 1500 or Nothin’ alongside The Migos mainstay DJ Durel.

“You rockin’ with the greatest group of all time,” Quavo declares toward the end of their performance.

Culture III dropped back in June and debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard 200 Chart behind Polo G’s Hall of Fame.

Roddy tapped 1500 or Nothin’ to play his acoustic album, starting off with “Perfect Time” playing on the keys and then brought out Los Angeles crooner Ty Dolla $ign for the collab track “Bacc Seat.”

Roddy Ricch also performed his hit single “High Fashion” and more. He also recently Best Rap Album for Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial at the BET Awards

Black Thought Joins With NPR For Tiny Desk Performance, Quarantine Style

As the nation and the world adjust to the sweeping changes to daily life due to the coronavirus pandemic, many musicians and artists are using this time to still connect with fans. Black Thought of The Roots is among the latest to provide musical sustenance by way of a quarantine version of a Tiny Desk concert.

Partnering with NPR Music, the Philadelphia artist born Tarik Trotter delivered an ear-pleasing three-song set featuring two songs from the upcoming Streams Of Thought Vol. 3 EP with producer Sean C.

The first track, “Thought Vs. Everbody” is an all-out bar fest with Black Thought’s timeless flow and jaw-dropping lines blasting over the drums. He follows with the track “Yellow,” which is from his forthcoming off-Broadway musical, Black No More, which pulls from the same novel from author George S. Schulyer.  The set ends with the moving “Nature Of The Beast” featuring Portugal. The Man, which will appear on Streams of Thought Vol 3.

Black Thought also announced that via The Roots YouTube page, he’ll be offering more insight into his creative endeavors and process periodically as the current landscape dictates that at-home performances such as these are the new normal.

Wale Brings a Melody of Hits to NPR’s Tiny Desk

The video of Wale’s Tiny Desk concert has hit online. The DC native had revealed that he had spoken with J. Cole about doing the performance and received some key advice from him. Wale has performed a mixture of new and old songs from the past to now off his recent album Wow… That’s Crazy. 

He started off with “Lotus Flower Bomb” before flowing into “LoveHate Thing,” “CC White,” “Sexy Lady,” “Sue Me,” and finishing with “On Chill.”
