Snoop Dogg is Back On His Blue Plaid Steez With Swizz Beatz in the “Countdown” Music Video

He may be known as Martha Stewart’s bestie today, but there was a time when Snoop Dogg was one of the most loc’d out rappers in Hip-Hop. As he prepares to release his 17th studio album I Wanna Thank Me, it looks like the rap pioneer is getting back to his Long Beach roots in the music video for his latest Swizz Beatz-assisted single “Countdown.”

The video shows both Swizz & Snoop decked out in blue bandanas and plaid button-down shirts that Tha Doggfather rapper helped make popular during his days as an active member of the Crips gang. Whether or not he’s still affiliated is not up for public discussion, but the main thing worth nothing is that the track slaps harder than the hydraulic low-riders featured in the video itself. Beautiful video vixens, a dancing clown posse and of course clouds of that good green are all included throughout, but it’s the crisp delivery of Snoop’s flow that will have you hitting the replay button to make sure we haven’t time-warped back into 1993 — basically, our favorite OG still got it!

Watch Snoop Dogg’s new music video for “Countdown” featuring Swizz Beatz above, and check for ‘I Wanna Thank Me‘ — the album was named after his viral Hollywood Walk of Fame acceptance speech — when it drops this August.

WATCH: Lizzo & Missy Elliott Bring Out the Twerks, Thongs and ‘Thiccness’ For “Tempo” Music Video

Lizzo has been receiving tons of critical acclaim for her major label debut album Cuz I Love You that dropped back in April. One of the standout tracks is a high-energy cut called “Tempo” that features her idol Missy Elliott, and now the fun has extended into a new music video that’s truly a sight to see.

It’s hard to even pinpoint a highlight in the almost three-minute clip because, well, the video itself is one big highlight from start to finish. Lizzo is a vision as she twerks with her “thicc” and beautiful backup dancers, meanwhile Missy brings back those quirky-cool visual effects from her “Work It” days as she hops out a lowrider and keeps it fresh in a tracksuit and kicks. Heck, Lizzo even gets to flex her flute skills at the end that solidifies her as the next big quadruple threat. From the fashion (two-pieces and thongs galore!) to the impressive bars by both femcees alike, this is definitely one video that will have you entertained the whole way through.

Watch the new music video for “Tempo” by Lizzo and Missy Elliott above, and listen to ‘Cuz I Love You‘ now on all streaming platforms if you haven’t already.

Ghostface Killah Announces New Album With a Music Video For the Lead Single “Conditioning”

As Wu-Tang Clan fans prepare for the group’s highly-anticipated scripted miniseries on Hulu coming in September, core member Ghostface Killah adds to the excitement by announcing his new solo album while also dropping a music video for the LP’s lead single “Conditioning.”

The new project, titled Ghostface Killahs, is set to drop towards the end of summer. The new visuals come by way of director Rock Davis, featuring the Supreme Clientele MC in a Dead Presidents-style situation that includes a heist, a cheating housewife and a whole lot of cash. The new album marks the latest effort in Ghost’s lengthy span of joint LPs, compilations and a few leftfield collabs like the most recent one with Miley Cyrus called “D.R.E.A.M.” off her upcoming seventh album. No word yet on who will be featured, how many tracks it will consist of or most importantly what the whole project will even sound like, but the new LP by Ghost is sure to be dope if it sounds anything like this smooth head-banger produced by Danny Caiazzo.

Watch Ghostface Killah’s new music video for “Conditioning” above, and check for ‘Ghostface Killahs‘ to drop sometime in August. We’ll keep you all updated on the concrete details.

WATCH: Cardi B Goes Off (And Takes It Off!) In NSFW Music Video For “Press”

If there ever was a music video that needed to be prefaced with a caution, disclaimer or any kind of warning for the sheer boldness of what you’re about to see, it without a doubt could (and probably should!) be for Cardi B’s new music video for “Press.”

Filled with pseudo-nudity, murder scenes, bloody bodies, girl-on-girl action and gun shots galore, “Press” is the NSFW masterpiece that is worth stepping out the office to watch for the three-and-a-half minutes that it takes to all play out. The concept, as Cardi described on her IG a few hours ago (seen above), is her directorial debut in collaboration with Jora Frantzis, who also handled the visuals for “Money” as well. From the fashion choices to the, well, lack of fashion via the nude scenes, everything was meticulously mapped out by the rap queen herself. One of the most poignant scenes is of course the one where she shows out in court, which seems to be unfortunately playing off her real-life legal drama from that strip club brawl last summer. For the sake of both Cardi and her legion of fans worldwide, let’s hope life doesn’t imitate art because, well, our girl literally kills everyone!

Peep the music video for “Press” by Cardi B above, and we’ll keep you all updated on whatever upcoming project this song ends up landing on.

10 Classic Rap Videos We Hope Get Remastered By YouTube and Universal Music Group

This week it was reported by The New York Times that YouTube and Universal Music Group would be joining to give some of our favorite classic music videos the remastering treatment. With a time span that goes from the ’80s all the way to the 2000s when things began to change for the better, it goes without saying that UMG has a lot of ground to cover.

The upgrades will be towards sound and picture quality to be compatible with HD streaming devices. The technological advances of today have made it possible to go back and actually “recreate” videos using their original formats, be it original film, Digibeta or even earlier ones like Betacam SPs. This will go into effect for approximately 1,000 videos by the end of 2020, and we’re kinda hoping they’re taking a few recommendations.

Keep scrolling to see 10 of our favorite throwback Hip-Hop music videos from the Universal Music Group vault that we hope to see in HD on YouTube very soon:

N.W.A. – “Express Yourself”

Year: 1988
A West Coast classic that dropped the year The Source debuted on newsstands. Even today, N.W.A. is still considered legends to the game, and we’re still getting these issues out — go cop “The Future Issue” (#275) today!

Slick Rick – “Children’s Story”

Year: 1988
A story we’ll never get tired of hearing or watching. The final scene could definitely benefit from a color & lighting upgrade for sure.

LL Cool J – “Going Back To Cali”

Year: 1989
Not only would a digital upgrade of this video be dope, but a full color version would make for an amazing anniversary release, too!

Eric B. & Rakim – “Juice (Know The Ledge)”

Year: 1992
Even though the scenes with Eric B. and Rakim are brief and only in black & white, the video overall should get a fresh finish for the sake of Pac’s groundbreaking role in Juice alone.

Ice Cube – “It Was A Good Day”

Year: 1992
It would be a good day indeed if we were able to watch this video in high definition. We’re actually surprised this song hasn’t been made into an episode of Tales yet!

Queen Latifah – “U.N.I.T.Y.”

Year: 1993
A timeless message that is still relevant today. The Queen definitely deserve to be seen and heard in HD quality.

Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg, Kurupt & Nate Dogg – “The Next Episode”

Year: 1999
We could name a few things in this video that we’d definitely like to see in the highest definition, and no we’re not talking about Snoop’s iconic Shirley Temple curls.

Talib Kweli – “Get By”

Year: 2002
Simply because, quite frankly, we still miss the old Kanye.

DMX – “X Gon’ Give It To Ya”

Year: 2003
Once X started getting into movies, his videos got way more cinematic. The CGI graphics in this video alone need a fresh upgrade without a doubt.

Kendrick Lamar – “Cut You Off”

Year: 2010
Not only was this K.Dot’s first real music video, but it reflects the year when everything changed and the Digital Era really made its impact on the game. We nominate this one off sheer nostalgia.

What are some of the music videos that you’re hoping to see get remastered? Let us know over on Facebook and Twitter!

WATCH: Flipp Dinero – “If I Tell You” (Music Video)

After trying to get the chicks to “leave him alone” on his breakout 2018 hit, Brooklyn-bred rapper Flipp Dinero is now serenading the ladies in a new music video for his recently-released single “If I Tell You.”

Outside of being a lighthearted video to match the catchiness of the song itself, this music video really stands out for the fact that it’s directed by G.O.O.D Music’s R&B princess Teyana Taylor. Credited as “Spike Tee,” the K.T.S.E. singer adds a feminine touch that’s much needed in the world of cinematography. Her vision sees Dinero trying to spit game to his love interest from the diner to the roller rink. Although he’s successful in his romantic pursuit, there’s a minor twist that get’s thrown into the mix at the end that leaves the narrative up for a potential sequel. Hey, if it means more Spike Tee Joints than keep ’em coming!

Watch the music video for Flipp Dinero’s new singe “If I Tell You” above, which should appear on the MC’s upcoming debut project under Epic Records.

DaBaby Hilariously Recreates His Louis Vuitton Store Fight In “Carpet Burn” Music Video

It looks like DaBaby isn’t about to let up off his recent brawl in the Louis Vuitton store. After already immortalizing the moment on a set of T-Shirts, the Charlotte-bred MC is now making it the subject of his lighthearted new music video for the Baby on Baby album cut “Carpet Burn.”

Directed by ReelGoats, the visuals for “Carpet Burn” is a level of troll that would even make 50 Cent proud. While the first half falls more in line with the song’s lyrics — the video model makes a strong case for “cuffin” and “falling in love” after a rug burn-inducing romp! — the second half is where things get straight comical. The heavily-documented fight with fellow North Carolina rapper Cam Coldhart is recreated to a tee, including the ‘fits and post-fight fail where Coldhart is seen on the ground clinging on to the shorts around his ankles. If you need a good laugh today, or just want to see a good example of why it doesn’t pay at all to try and catch DaBaby slippin’, look no further.

Check out the music video for “Carpet Burn” right now, and stream DaBaby’s debut album Baby on Baby right now on all streaming platforms.

Hot 97’s Sold-Out Summer Jam Celebrates Hip-Hop with Cardi B, Meek Mill, Migos & More

Hot 97 once again shut down the tri-state area with their annual Summer Jam. This past Sunday (June 2), Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ was the Hip-Hop center of the universe with a concert headlined by Cardi B, Meek Mill, and Migos.

The full day celebrating Hip-Hop sparked with lively performances at the Festival Stage featuring Trippie Redd, City Girls, Blueface, Melii, Nicole Bus, and G4 Boyz. Also taking the festival stage was Na Boogz and Mod Da God, who represented the Who’s Next Destination Summer Jam contest.

Transitioning into the Stadium, the mainstage was introduced with a trio of the future women of Hip-Hop in Kash Doll, Melii and Megan Thee Stallion. Casanova followed and ushered in the next wave of stars in Nigerian artist, Davido, Rich Forever CEO Rich the Kid who let off a round of bangers and hometown hero A Boogie who turned the massive crowd into a choir with his hit single “Look Back At It.”

Bobby Konders & Jabba of Hot 97 set the mood in the arena with a lively Caribbean set and made way for Meek Mill to tear down the stage. Meek’s set was peppered with classics among his current Championships singles and a special guest appearance from Fabolous for “Uptown Vibes.” Before he would close with his classic “Dreams & Nightmares” anthem, Meek made sure to show love to late Nipsey Hussle.

After a ten-minute set from Funk Flex, Migos took over the stage for a run of hits from their discography including “Bad and Boujee,” “Handsome and Wealthy,” and more. The Atlanta trio also brought in some help with Saweetie whose charisma with her bae Quavo radiated throughout the arena from the stage.

The night was then primed for Cardi B who unloaded every hit single in her clip and gave the first live performance of her new single “Press.” Cardi arrived on a three-wheeler, shining in yellow and glitter throughout her bikini top and shorts to a massive ovation. Throughout her set, not only did she let off every hit from “Bodak Yellow” forward but brought her husband Offset back to the stage for “Clout,” along with more surprises in City Girls for “Twerk,” Pardison Fontaine for “Back It Up” and Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus for “Old Town Road.”

The night was punctuated by Tory Lanez who took Metlife Stadium home with his hit single “Luv.”

Additional surprises guests included A$AP Ferg, Calboy, Jay Critch, Memphis Bleek, Afro B, Kid the Wiz, Flipp Dinero, Shaboogie and King Combs. In attendance for the big night were Naomi Campbell, Remy Ma, Wendy Williams, Jojo Simmons, Queen Naija, and Don Q & Trap Manny.

WATCH: Trippie Redd – “UNDER ENEMY ARMS” (Music Video)

After premiering his new single a few days ago on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show through Apple Music, Trippie Redd now gives us the official music video for his first 2019 single titled “UNDER ENEMY ARMS.”

UNDER ENEMY ARMS OUT NOW 😈 listen/download link in bio 💕🐍

A post shared by 14 (@trippieredd) on

Redd’s first official drop of the year is expected to pop up on his upcoming sophomore album, currently going by either ! or Immortal. The video was directed by Christian Breslauer, and shows Redd getting real cinematic on a “Black Joker” type of vibe. From campaigning to be America’s First President of Trap to landing in a battlefield for a gory gun fight, the visual element alone deserves props for art direction. The Ohio-bred MC keeps it fresh on the fashion tip as well, and it all seems to be intentional given that he told Zane during their interview, “I’ve pretty much got the concepts for lots of videos and shit. I’m trying to be visual with this one.” The step-up on a cinematic level is already a move in the right direction, and the song itself is a turn-up that may give it a placement on the charts in the very near future. Not a bad way at all to make an entrance back into the game.

Watch the music video for “UNDER ENEMY ARMS” by Trippie Redd above, and we’ll keep you all updated on a solid date for the upcoming project.

WATCH: YG – “In The Dark” (Music Video)

YG’s latest music video is straight out of hell — literally!

Arriving as the latest single off his new album 4REAL 4REAL, the visuals for “In The Dark” take the Compton-bred rapper into either his greatest nightmare or biggest fantasy depending on how you look at it. On the surface, skull bones stack up on the walls and fire pits spew from all ends of the nearly-four-minute clip. However, dancing devils and horn-bearing vixens make it all look like a party up in the House of Hades if you ask us. We guess that’s just what happens when you down a bottle of tequila.

The G-Funk-laced beat produced by DJ Mustard really does make it seem more pleasant than the visuals would suggest, but even still we’ll sit the next one out if the party requires dancing with the devil or getting a lap dance from one of his zombie wives. Well, maybe the latter could turn into a fun time but we’ll let the homie Keenon enjoy the festivities all to himself.

Watch the Colin Tilley-directed music video for “In The Dark” by YG above, and go stream 4REAL 4REAL right now as the rapper will be donating part of the proceeds from the album to Nipsey Hussle’s family.
