Roddy Ricch Goes Off In Clubhouse Chat After He’s Accused Of Faking His Crip Status

Roddy Ricch and J Balvin Withdraw from MTV VMAs Performances

Roddy Ricch might have a calm demeanor, but if there’s one thing not to do, don’t accuse him of “false flagging.”

In a recent Clubhouse chat, Ricch hopped on a chat with music exec and manager Wack 100, to address claims made by Yah-L, a Crip from Compton who is accusing Roddy of not being a Crip.

“It’s a lot of chatter and I just wanna get it from…like… what’s really going on, bro? It was a lot said,” Yah began.

Before he could even get another word in, Ricch interjected. “We not gon’ do that. I got phone calls, text messages, I’m seeing on the internet that I’m false flagging. I wanna know what’s going on.”

Yah-L then went on to claim that Roddy was not from the hood and never from the hood, despite Roddy repping the city of Compton.

“Who’s sayin’ I’m not from the hood? You saying I’m not from the hood?!” Roddy exclaimed. Yah-L continued to press Roddy about him not being from the hood, but Roddy retaliated, asking Yah who told him he’s not from the hood.

“I’m asking you a question… You ain’t see me get put on to Blacc Macc?… Alright, champ, three n*ggas, put two of them down, that ain’t official? I know a lot of little homies that ain’t get their official, n*gga.”

Roddy went on, even after Yah told the Compton MC to watch his tone. “You ever touched a million dollars? I’m asking you a question. You ever touched a million dollars before?” Roddy asked. “I’m asking you do you know what that feel like? ‘Cause you here talking about another n*gga for free. Laughing. You laughing and I’m asking you a question.”

Yah eventually became even more upset, telling Roddy that “real ones” didn’t help him earn the money he made. Roddy fired back, saying “You playing internet games on some sh*t—I don’t even know how to use this Clubhouse sh*t. I had to call Wack four, five times, he callin’ me. You thirty, forty years old using this app, n*gga, I’m twenty-three. I don’t even know how to use this sh*t. ‘Cause I’m over here trying to make the Forbes again this year, man.”

Roddy then went on to tell Yah about the people from Compton that he has helped due to his success. He then claimed that he shot all of his music videos in Compton until his debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, and that he was in Compton so much that his label had to call him to tell him to stop.

“I done made $20 million in a year, you think I’m ’bout to be posted up with you, n*gga?!” You can listen to the argument below.

Roddy Ricch’s ‘Live Life Fast’ Debuts On Billboard 200

Roddy Ricch

Roddy Ricch is celebrating the success of his latest effort ‘Live Life Fast.’ Billboard announced that Roddy’s new LP, which was released on December 17th, debuted at Number Four on the Billboard 200 chart.

The feat marks Roddy Ricch’s second consecutive Top 10 entry on the Billboard album chart.

His 2019 effort ‘Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial’ spent four weeks at Number One.

In other Roddy Ricch news, the “High Fashion” rapper recently revealed he shared his not so pleasant thoughts directed at the Grammys with them in conversation.

Taken from an excerpt of Kevin Durant‘s The ETCs Podcast with Eddie Gonzalez:

“Uzi is like, like when I was talking to the Grammys, I’m like, ‘Y’all ain’t nominate Uzi for Rap Album?’ I was tripping on them. Even like Lil Baby, ‘Y’all ain’t nominate Lil Baby?’ Like I’m tripping, ’cause it’s like everybody got their own lane, and it should be spoken about, talked about more, because I feel like the n***as now that’s doing sh*t like, no disrespect, but we really breaking barriers.”

Roddy Ricch Says He Almost Named Himself ‘Lil Bird’

roddy ricch the box octuple platinum

As an artist, coming up with a name can be one of the hardest and most important things you do in your career. Some artists are already given a great name while others aren’t. You want something that embodies who you are and something that people will remember. And in this industry full of “Lil’s” and “Young’s,” sometimes it’s hard to not follow suit. That certainly was the case for Roddy Ricch.

Roddy recently sat down for an interview with Big Boy to promote his latest effort, Live Life Fast. Roddy was asked what other names he considered before finally deciding on Roddy Ricch, and the Live Life Fast artist said that he was seriously considering the name “Lil Bird” for a while.

“Like, from bird?” asked Big Boy.

“Yeah, Lil Bird,” confirmed Roddy.

“Damn, you was like, ‘man, eff this lil stuff,’ you know what I’m saying?,” said Big Boy.

“Nah, I still go by it sometimes!” replied Roddy.

Roddy didn’t say where exactly the name came from. But because he said that he still goes by the name sometimes, maybe it was a childhood nickname that stuck.

We think it’s safe to say Roddy made the right decision to not go with “Lil Bird.”
