BX Drill Rapper C Blu’s Gun Charge Moved To Juvenile Court, Judge Calls Calls Cops’ Testimony “Unreliable”

Earlier this week, 16-year-old Camrin Williams aka C Blu, a NYC drill rapper, managed to slip through the cracks of the criminal justice system after a Bronx judge moved the young rapper’s case to family court, citing that an “unreliable” and “self serving” officer illegally searched the teen before he was arrested.

Bronx Supreme Court Justice Naita Sema made the transfer of the case from adult court to family/juvenile court after she made it clear that she saw no reason for the officers to search the teen.

‘There was absolutely zero reason for any of those officers to approach this individual,” Judge Semaj reportedly said. “They approached him, they detained him, they searched him, and no officer even bothered to come up with a halfway legitimate reason for any of that.”

Blu was initially charged as an adult with criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree assault and other weapons charges, but is now facing charges of shooting a police officer as a juvenile.

Blu was arrested on January 18 following a physical altercation in which 27-year-old Officer Kaseem Pennant was shot in the groin during the search. According to Judge Semaj, Williams did everything to cooperate with the officers.

“While there is no disputing the fact that Mr. Williams had a gun on him that night… He literally does everything you tell your child to do when they’re approached by cops. He literally kept his hands up. He literally tried to record to make sure there was proof. He answered questions he had no obligation to answer.”

The 16-year-old emcee, who is allegedly has ties to the Crips, used the $250,000 advance from his Interscope Records deal to post bail following the arrest. Williams is still on probation from a 2020 gun possession arrest.

Rather than a Bronx District Attorney, the city’s law department will now decide Williams’ fate and judge will finalize Blu’s case instead of a traditional jury.

C Blu Back in Custody Less Than Two Weeks After Arrest for Shooting Cop

The NYPD wasn’t too happy with the release of 16-year-old rapper and reputed gang member Camrin Williams aka C Blu, after he shot a police officer and showed their discontent by rearresting the teen yesterday(February 3) for a probation violation from a 2020 gun charge, according to a New York Post report.

Last week, C Blu and his family posted a $250K bond, primarily paid with a record label advance he received from a subsidiary of Universal Records, after allegedly shooting a cop during an altercation in the Bronx. He was taken back to Crossroads Juvenile Detention Facility in Brooklyn because the gun used in the January 18 shooting violated his probation from a 2020 illegal weapons charge.

It is unclear why Williams’ probation violation wasn’t active before he was released for shooting the officer, and C Blu’s lawyer, Dawn Florio, has yet to comment on this matter.

“We’re glad that a cop-shooter is back off the street, but this revolving door for a repeat gun offender makes no sense whatsoever,” PBA President Patrick J. Lynch said. “It should be clear to every New Yorker that our justice system is broken in many places. Our lawmakers need to prioritize fixing it above everything else.”

Bronx Rapper C Blu Free On Bond After Shooting NYPD Officer, Allegedly Used Label Advance To Post Bail

An up-and-coming, gang affiliated teen rapper from the birthplace of Hip Hop has recently been freed on bond after shooting a NYC police officer and the judge who granted him bond is coming under fire for allowing the gun-toting rapper back on the streets.

16-year-old Camrin Williams aka C Blu was released from Crossroads Juvenile Detention Facility in Brooklyn on Thursday after posting ten percent of a $200K bond, which reportedly came from a record label advance from a deal he recently inked with a subsidiary of Interscope Records. Williams’ family was able to scrape together the $15,000 bail set by the court and then used the teens’ record deal to secure the bond with Judelson, sources said.

Williams is accused of shooting 27-year-old NYC police officer Kaseem Pennant in the leg after refusing to take his hands out of his pockets, which resulted in a scuffle between him and Pennant. Williams was also struck in the groin by the bullet that grazed the officer.

Williams was arraigned on charges of felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon in the Bronx. The budding star could also face an attempted murder charge from the grand jury. The reputed Crip gang member was on probation at the time of the shooting from a 2020 gun possession charge.

Judge Denis Boyle granted Williams a bail, despite the prosecutors’ recommendation that the teen be held without bail until his trial.

NYPD Police Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch criticized Judge Boyle, saying in a statement, “If anybody wants to know why we have a crisis of violence in this city, or why we’re about to bury two hero police officers, look no further than this disgraceful bail release.”

Lynch added, “This individual chose to carry illegal guns twice. He chose to fight with and shoot a New York City police officer. There’s no reason to believe he won’t do the exact same thing when he’s out on the street tonight. Shame on Judge Denis Boyle for allowing this to happen,” he said. “The people of the Bronx won’t be safe as long as he’s on the bench.”
