Takeoff Skipped Out On American Music Awards To Work On Solo Project

Takeoff has a solo project on the way as well.

Earlier this week, Migos took home their first American Music Award for Favorite Duo/Group in the Pop/Rock. When the superstar group went on stage to claim their award, they were without Takeoff. Instead, Quavo and Offset gave the acceptance speech, thanking their respective mamas. The Migos are all a family. If you are unfamiliar with the family tree, Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle, while Offset is both of their cousins.

In an Instagram comment, Offset’s mother, Latabia Woodward,  responded to why Takeoff was a no-show to accept the award with the group at the AMA’s. After seeing just Huncho and Offset, a fan became curious about the group’s standing. Woodward took the comments to clear the air. “It’s still 3 of them,” she said. “Take is working on his solo album, which releases soon after Quavo’s. Each of them are releasing solo projects.”

There was speculation of the group’s individual projects, looming in the midst, but now fans have received confirmation from mama Migos. On the group’s most recent album, Culture, II, Takeoff was recognized for his ability to stand out. It is obvious that Quavo and Offset are superstars in their own right, but the youngest Migos strictly sticks to the music. While interviewing with Hypebeast, Huncho explained why his nephew is extremely modest.

“He likes to work and mind his business, said Huncho. “He doesn’t like to be involved in a lot of things, he just likes to make good music for the people.”

The superstar trio is pulling a Destiny Child by each releasing solo albums. With the release of Quavo’s album, Takeoff’s project is on deck and will be followed by Offset. Be sure to stream Quavo Honcho on Tidal, Apple Music and Spotify.
