Twitter Deserved Its Own AMA Award For Their Social Commentary

Twitter Brought The Jokes For 2019 American Music Awards

Source: Axelle/Bauer-Griffin / Getty

If you didn’t know, the 2019 American Music Awards (AMAs) took place last night. While these award shows have lost their luster, social media as a family coming together to joke on their favorite musicians was as usual on point.

As you can imagine, there were a plethora of moments to make like of it and turn into memes. Whether it was the interesting fits like Lil Nas X’s green screenable suit (we think he did it on purpose), Billy Eilish’s Burberry bee-keeper drip, or Lizzo’s insanely small Valentino bag no one was spared.

When it came to the show, no one could resist throwing shade at Post Malone for taking home the award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album for his album Hollywood’s Bleeding. His acceptance speech also raised eyebrows when he confusingly confessed that he “loved grapes.” To complete his epic night, he brought out Ozzy Osbourne, and Travis Scott — whom he beat out for his award — to perform a rendition of the Black Sabbath hit record “Take What You Want.” Twitter was absolutely amazed to learn that Ozzy was still alive and breathing.

You can hit the gallery below to see the best reactions from the night.

Yay or Nay?: The Wins & Fails Of The 2018 AMA’s Red Carpet [Photos]

An award show, in this case the 2018 American Music Awards, means a red carpet. This also means plenty of fashion wins along with the inevitable fashion fails.

Cardi B was winning off g.p. as was Tracee Ellis Ross. As for too many others, some of these stylists are not so low key criminals.

Of course, J. Lo did J. Lo things.

Peep the wins and fails of the 2018 AMA’s Red Carpet below.

Ciara and Missy Elliott Perform ‘Level Up’ at AMAs

5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Ciara took it to the next level while performing her dance anthem “Level Up” at the 2018 American Music Awards. Backed by an army of dancers, CiCi busted out some killer choreography in a white leotard during Tuesday’s show. She kept elevating by bringing out her longtime pal Missy Elliott for the remix. Rocking a custom Dapper Dan Gucci tracksuit, Missy breathed more fire into the electrifying performance.

Ciara then hit fans off with another “Dose,” performing her Rodney Jerkins-produced single while accompanied by a marching band. She even did out the BlocBoy JB “shoot” dance and received a standing ovation from her peers including Khalid, Camila Cabello, and Cardi B.

“Now that’s how you do that!” said host Tracee Ellis Ross.

Wearing a metallic jacket and pants, he performed his chart-topping smash “rockstar” with Ty Dolla $ign before segueing into his latest hit “Better Now,” which is currently No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Cardi B, J Balvin, & Bad Bunny Perform ‘I Like It’ at American Music Awards

Cardi B brought the party to the AMAs.

As the most nominated artist of the night, the Bronx rapper delivered an electrifying performance of her No. 1 smash “I Like It” with help from J Balvin and Bad Bunny.

The new mom celebrated her Latin roots, taking viewers to the Bardi Gang Social Club, filled with colorful fashion and a lively band. Cardi rotated on a spinning device while stunting and shining in a flowy floral dress before Bad Bunny rolled out in a shopping cart. J Balvin emerged as Cardi busted out some salsa moves with her dance partner. They came together for the explosive finale, and earned a standing ovation from the crowd including G-Eazy, DJ Mustard, and actor Taran Killam, whose jaw was on the floor.

Earlier in the evening, Cardi won her first award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. She thanked her team, husband Offset, and daughter Kulture in her speech. “I really wanna thank my daughter. And not just because she’s my daughter,” she said. “They said I wasn’t gonna make it after I had a baby.”
