Meek Mill Suggest Rappers Start a New Challenge for 2019: ‘Property and Owning Business’

Meek Mill is learning from Jay-Z and it’s starting to show. Hov had been encouraging rappers to spend their money wisely for quite some time now and as a result, Meek is embracing that same attitude.

The Philadelphia rapper who once glorified materialism in his raps has clearly matured.

In his latest album Championships, the growth in Meek’s character is evident. On the track “What’s Free” featuring Jay-Z and Rick Ross, the trio of rappers took a more enlightening and uplifting approach. They spoke on ownership, prosperity, and encouragement rather than speaking on Rollie watches, luxury cars, and expensive jewelry.

He’s now inspiring other rappers to adopt the same mind frame for 2019. On Christmas Eve, the ex-battle rapper went to Twitter to issue his new challenge.

Of course, Meek Mill and Jay-Z had been friends prior to Meek’s incarceration and Jay was also a strong advocate of Meek while he sat in, jail, but their relationship seemed to get closer. Over the weekend, Meek posted a picture of Jay-Z, Fabolous and himself at a partying in NYC at Dusse Palooza. Later on, he revealed that Jay gave him one of the Roc Nation chains he wore around his neck.

On the record, Jigga makes direct references to Ye’s pro-President Donald Trump support.

No red hat, don’t Michael and Prince me and Ye/They separate you when you got Michael and Prince’s DNA, uh/I ain’t one of these house n*ggas you bought/My house like a resort, my house bigger than yours/My spou- (C’mon man) (“What’s Free”)

JAY heavily went in on Donald Trump and distanced himself from Ye’s proud Make America Great Again stance.

Jay also rejects any comparisons made between him and Kanye West. In the midst of the various controversies Kanye has said and done in 2018, one of the most memorable moments is when he tweeted himself wearing a MAGA hat while later on appearing on Saturday Night Live clarifying his viewpoint on why he embraces wearing the hat: “They said, ‘Don’t go out there with that hat on.’ They bullied me backstage. They bullied me! And then they say I’m in a sunken place. You want to see the sunken place? Okay, I’m going to listen to y’all now, or I’m going to put my Superman cape on. This means you can’t tell me what to do.” (Genius)
