Vince Carter has always preached the importance of having an education. Now he is raising the stakes for the youths of Toronto.
Carter has announced the official launch of the Vince Carter Scholarship and Mentorship Program in the Toronto area of Canada. The scholarship, which amounts to $25,000 per student, will be primarily targeting high school students who have taken up a passion for sports, music, film, fashion, broadcasting, media, or science, technology, engineering, and math.
Statistics from the Toronto District School Board revealed the graduation rate for Black high school students is 69 percent and the dropout rate sits at 20 percent. The resources and support that will be provided through Carter’s program will be instrumental in changing the narrative.
“I am doing my part, now it’s time for you to do yours by reaching out to kids, extended family, friends, educators and share this opportunity,” Carter says in a statement.
The scholarship criteria require applicants to possess a passion in any of the mentioned academic pathways; reviews of academic scores, personal character, community service; a 500-word essay.
Applicants are directed to the exclusive application portal www.parismedia.org/community/ or email [email protected].

Drake is still on a high on life regarding his town’s big win this year. His NBA squad are now proud owners of select gear to commemorate the chip.
As spotted on High Snobiety Drizzy has gifted the Toronto Raptors exclusive pieces in honor of their 2018-2019 championship status. The piece in question is your traditional black flight jacket with zipper closure. Naturally the wears came together under the OVO brand with their signature owl logo placed on the left chest. On the back is a raptor situated at the top of NBA Championship trophy with “The Best In The World Champions”.
All the players names are found on the right sleeve with their respective jersey number. Surprisingly Kawhi Leonard, who left the team right after the big victory, made the list. You can see more of the jackets below.

The Toronto Raptors are still receiving gifts to celebrate their 2019 NBA Championship. The team already has the biggest championship rings in the history of the NBA, but are now getting custom bomber jackets, provided by non-other than Drake.
The 6ix God supplied custom jackets for every member of the squad and highlighted the name of who the jacket belonged to in gold. The jacket has both the U.S. and Canadian flags, the raptor holding on to the trophy and “The Best in the World” embroidered on the back.

Drake was, without doubt, the biggest and loudest fan in the building for many of the Toronto Raptors‘ home games en route to their first NBA championship. The 6 God was given some hardware with the rest of the team but one-upped everyone with a custom ring worth $150,000.
We’ll let TMZ tell you the rest:
TMZ Sports has learned … not only did the Champagne Papi get the “official” ring the Raptors received during their opening night ceremony on Tuesday … he also hit up Jason of Beverly Hills to get him a one of a kind ring to commemorate his team’s title run.
The piece is incredible — it’s got 30 carats of diamonds, which is more than any other championship ring in NBA history.
Jason tells TMZ Sports … “Drake had me fly to Turks and Caicos for an emergency design meeting.”
“It’s a championship that’s dear to his heart and he wanted to create an over the top ring that not only paid homage to his city but made a statement above and beyond anything else in history.”
That’s dope.

The entire sports world is currently on Kawhi Leonard watch and waiting patiently to learn where the “fun guy” is going to play professional basketball next season. Leonard and his camp have given no indication as to where he is leaning too but reportedly, Toronto Raptors superfan and Global Ambassador Drake is taking it upon himself to keep the Klaw in the six.
Drake really likes his chips with the dip, and he’s going to make sure it stays that way for the foreseeable future. After experience what it’s like to win an NBA championship for the first time, Drizzy wants to make sure his Raptors are fully equipped to defend their title with Kawhi leading the way once again. Marc Stein of The New York Times reports the 6 God has his own recruiting plan in place in hopes to convince Leonard to resign with the Raptors.
Per Marc Stein:
“The Raptors haven’t backed off one centimeter, and Drake is said to be mounting his own recruiting campaign on top of whatever the freshly minted champions are doing to convince him to stay.”
Whether Drake’s alleged pitch works or not is another story. ESPN’s Ramona Shelbourne, as well as Stein, are reporting that Kawhi and his camp determining which team they can trust based on how silent they can stay throughout the wooing process. If that is the case, Drizzy might want to make sure his attempt at convincing the 2-time NBA Finals MVP to stay is as low-key as possible can be and that no leaks are coming from his circle.
Kawhi has the whole city on edge, and the news of the Los Angeles Lakers being ahead of the Raptors and Clippers in the race to land the highly-coveted free agent doesn’t help ease tensions either in Toronto. We will just have to wait and see, but its clear Leonard knows he has the NBA, Los Angeles, and Toronto in the palm of his giant hand at the moment.

The Raptors are one of the three remaining teams who could win the sweepstakes for the services of Leonard. Many sources have stated Leonard will be heading to the Los Angeles Lakers to join with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, while others have said the Los Angeles Clippers are still in the running. For now, we just have to wait and see.
