After it was reported that incarcerated podcaster Taxstone was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the deadly shooting in Irving Plaza in 2016, the 37-year-old podcast pioneer took to social media to let his supporters and followers that his legal fight isn’t over yet.
It was reported earlier this week that Daryl Campbell aka Taxstone was sentenced to 35 years behind bars after being convicted of the 2016 shooting death of Ronald McPhatter, who was a friend and bodyguard of rapper Troy Ave. The pioneering podcaster took to Twitter to speak in his sentence, which he anticipates he will win on appeal.
Taxstone’s tweet read, “Just got 35 years for being victimized and reversing the situation. The beauty in it all is, I’m not doing 35. Be safe though.” He later added, “Don’t worry my appeal will be swift.”

Several reports have confirmed that podcaster turned convicted murderer Taxstone was sentenced to 35 consecutive years behind bars for charges related to the shooting death of Troy Ave’s bodyguard Ronald McPhatter in NYC’s Irving Plaza in 2016.
Taxstone went to trial back in March and was convicted of the murder of McPhatter and was sentenced by Judge Abraham Clott, who said that Taxstone, whose real name is Daryl Campbell, would serve his time consecutively instead of concurrent sentencing.
Taxstone released a statement on Twitter.

News reports have confirmed that attorneys for incarcerated Canadian rapper Tory Lanez have filed a motion to disqualify the judge that is set to preside over his sentencing hearing.
Jose Baez and Matthew Barhoma, attorneys for Lanez, filed a motion to disqualify L.A. County Superior Court Judge David Herriford, citing that the judge showed favoritism to the prosecution.
Baez and Barhoma gave multiple examples of the judge’s “partiality”in last month’s two-day hearing, stating, “Conversely, the judge gave the People a full and fair opportunity to present argument uninterrupted, even when the case cited by the People did not stand for the proposition that they advanced.”
After the lawyers’ statement, the judge responded to their claims by saying, “I am not prejudiced or biased against or in favor of any party to this proceeding or their counsel.” The judge continued, “All statements made by me and all actions taken by me in this proceeding have been done in furtherance of what I believe were my judicial duties.”
Reportedly, the petition has not been addressed by the court at all and it hasn’t been noted if the court will look at it before Tory’s sentencing.
Sentencing for Tory Lanez is scheduled for June 13, 2023.

Sentencing for Tory Lanez in the 2020 Megan The Stallion shooting is scheduled for next month and prosecutors in Los Angeles are not endorsing leniency for the 50-year-old Canadian rapper. Prosecutors say that Lanez “demonstrated a high level of callousness” as the triggerman that left the 28-year-old Houston rapstress shot in the foot.
Deputy District Attorneys Kathy Ta and Alex Bott filed a motion on Tuesday (May 23) pushing for Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, to receive a hefty prison sentence for his first degree assault with a firearm charge, of which he was convicted on December 23, 2022.
“[Megan] was dressed in only a bikini, shoeless and on foot in a neighborhood completely foreign to her,” the filing reads. “It was late at night. She was unarmed and completely defenseless. [Lanez] posed a significant danger to everyone (witnesses and neighbors) in the vicinity of this shooting.”
It continues, “The brazenness of Defendant’s conduct is alarming but the conscious disregard for the well-being and safety of all those around him signifies a high degree of indifference for human life.”
Even though there were no sentencing guidelines mentioned in the filing, Judge David Herriford is able to sentence Lanez to as much as 22 years and 8 months in prison.
Judge Herriford denied his motion for a new trial earlier this month.
Lanez’s sentencing date is slated for June 13.

After it was recently revealed that the motion filed by Tory Lanez for a new trial was denied, a sentencing schedule for Lanez was published by LA Magazine ,which shows Tory’s sentencing date as June 13, 2023.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, faces up to 22 years in prison for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion after leaving a Kylie Jenner’s party in Hollywood Hills in 2020.
Earlier this week, Lanez was denied a new trial after pleading to Judge David Herriford for leniency, stating, ‘Please don’t ruin my life. I could be your son. I could be your brother.’”

Rapper Kidd Creole is being sentenced after being found guilty of first-degree manslaughter. The 62-year-old Creole, whose real name is Nathaniel Glover, was sentenced to 16-years in prison today for the murder of a homeless man, John Jolly in New York City.
The founding member of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was convicted of fatally stabbing the man with a streak knife in 2017 in Midtown.
Prosecutors accused the Bronx native of stabbing Jolly after becoming enraged because he thought Jolly was gay and was hitting on him. After stabbing Jolly, who was 55, it is reported that Kidd Creole went to his workplace nearby, changed his clothes and washed the knife. Creole was apprehended the next day.
