Today (May.12) is Tony Hawk’s birthday and the Birdman decided to bless gamers with the best gift ever.

Gamers, especially fans of the iconic famed Tony Hawk video game franchise, got a pleasant surprise today. The legendary skateboarder dropped the trailer for the remastered version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2The game, which launches on September 4, will feature original levels, skaters, tricks, modes, and songs from the iconic soundtrack. Players can also look forward to the introduction of new game modes and online multiplayer.

Of course, the original roster of skaters is returning, including Steve Caballero, Geoff Rowley, Bucky Lasek, Elissa Steamer, Kareem Campbell, Andrew Reynolds, Bob Burnquist, Eric Koston, Rodney Mullen, Jamie Thomas, Rune Glifberg, Chad Muska… and of course, Tony Hawk. They will also still have their special moves as well.

Speaking on the announcement of the game Tony Hawk added:

“It was incredible to play the original games on PlayStation back in 1999 and to see the overwhelming response from the PlayStation community, so I’m excited to bring the game back to all the hardcore THPS fans on PlayStation again this year.”

Based on the comparison screens, you can see the graphics have been drastically improved to enhance the experience that gamers loved with the original Tony Hawk game released back in 1999.  The game will arrive on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, so no need to worry Microsoft fans and will cost $39.99, $49.99 for the digital deluxe version that includes unique content and gear. If you pre-order the game, you will gain early access to the “warehouse demo.”

As you can imagine, this is something gamers have been clamoring for a long time. While its not a new Tony Hawk game, it’s honestly close enough. The reactions to the announcement of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 being remastered got tons of positive responses and suggestions. You can peep them and the trailer below.

HHW Gaming: Ellie Goes Full Savage Mode In New “The Last of Us Part II’ Trailer

Ellie Goes Savage In New 'The Last of Us Part II' Trailer

Source: Naughty Dog / The Last of Us Part II

We’ve been avoiding The Last of Us Part II leak like Future avoids paying his baby mamas.

Today (May.6) Naughty Dog rewarded those who didn’t dare look at any of those leaked cutscenes with an intense, dramatic trailer that hints at painful journey for Ellie full of loss and despair for the still highly-anticipated sequel to 2013’s The Last of Us.

Players will take control of Ellie, who is now an adult and is on a quest for revenge. The official synopsis for the game posted under the trailer states:

“After a vicious and violent event disrupts the relative peace that Ellie has found in Jackson, she sets out to bring justice to those responsible. As she hunts them down one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.”

The road to the game’s launch has been an extremely bumpy one following the announcement of the game initially dropping on February 20. Early April, Naughty Dog revealed the game will be delayed indefinitely due to it not being able to launch correctly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then the news of the unfortunate leak came with eager fans seizing the opportunity to look at the game’s central plot details and walking away disappointed.

We don’t know what they saw, but based on what we have seen in this trailer, we are definitely in store for another emotional thrill ride. The Last of Us Part II launches on PS4 on June 19, you can watch Ellie go ham below.

Free Money

Grand Theft Auto Online is going all out for its true gamers. According to Rockstar Games, all players have to do is log and play the game in May go receive $500,000 of in-game currency. The money will automatically be deposited in the players’ Maze Bank accounts within seven days.

Once you’re logged in, you will receive the cash at once in your Maze Bank account. The free money is not that huge compared to the opposite gamers out there, but it’s an excellent way to start saving up. With that cash, you can now have a solid vehicle that you can drive around town. There are many savings offered, including 40% off nightclubs, 40% off the B-eleven Strikeforce, 35% off the Pegassi Oppressor, and a decent 60% off the Declasse Hotring Sabre (thanks, Comic Book). There also are triple awards on business battles right now, too. (Tech Times)

Wait, There’s More

Back in April 2020, Rockstar pulled off a similar hook-up. The company revealed it would reward players with $500k just for playing.

Play GTA Online in April and get GTA$500,000

All month long, we’re awarding a one-time GTA$500K gift to anyone who plays GTA Online.

This GTA$ will be automatically sent to your Maze Bank account (may take up to seven days to appear).

Before You Go

Back in mid-April 2020, Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee geeked out over Grand Theft Auto Online. The hip-hop superstar encouraged fans to reach out to him on Playstation 4 and join his gang.

“Yo, I need all gamers to follow me on PS4. I’m trying to make the biggest gang ever. I need 300 people with me. Add my gamer tag right now. PS4 users only. GTA, let’s go!” -Swae Lee’s Instagram

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Final Fantasy VII Remake’ Producer Yoshinori Kitase Details How The Game Came Together & More

Yoshinori Kitase Details How 'Final Fantasy Remake' Came Together & More

in Source: Square Enix / Final Fantasy VII Remake

When it comes to video games, some come and go, while others leave a mark in the industry and cementing its place in the hearts of gamers around the world. Final Fantasy VII is one of those games, so it was a no-brainer Hip-Hop Wired.com jumped at the opportunity to interview the Final Fantasy VII Remake’s producer Yoshinori Kitase.

It’s been almost 5 years since Square Enix shocked the world and gave us our first glimpse of Final Fantasy VII Remake inducing tears of joy out of fans of the game (including myself). Now we are literally just days away from the game’s release. In our conversation with Kitase, we got the opportunity to ask him about how the idea of a remake came together, why did they decide to make break the game up into multiple parts, if we have to worry about the coronavirus delaying part 2 and more.

Hip-Hop Wired: So when did the great idea of doing a remake of Final Fantasy VII come together?

Yoshinori Kitase: I had been loosely thinking about the idea ever since we were mid-way through the production of the “Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series (from 2005 and on). It became more concrete in my mind afterward, when the Final Fantasy series celebrated its 25th-anniversary milestone in 2012, where we were thinking of how we could take the franchise even further. (Ultimately though, the actual project didn’t even kick off until a few years onward).

HHW: Final Fantasy VII is regarded as one of the greatest games/RPG’s ever made. It also has one of the most loyal fanbases as well, were you worried about remaking a classic? Do you think fans will be pleased with the game?

Kitase: I was slightly worried, but I also believed that if we made sure to take great care of the scenes and gameplay elements that remain strongly in the memories of our fans, then we could meet their expectations. There were many members of the development staff who played and were fans of the original Final Fantasy VII, and they challenged themselves to create something new while paying respect toward it. I’m sure fans will be satisfied.

HHW: Why did you decide to make this a multi-game project instead of releasing it at all at once?

Kitase: It was easy for us to imagine, even from the story planning stages, that remaking the game to the highest visual levels and going for a more realistic approach to the world, using modern-day technology, would result in a huge volume of work and assets. Simply, with the higher visual quality and the size of the world, it was impossible for a single game. As such, we had two options at that point.

One was to fit all the elements into one game by simplifying each of the elements, which basically would have resulted in a very cut-down digest of the original game, where the players would just follow the main storyline but we would have had to cut a lot of content with that approach, and we didn’t think that fans would have accepted that.

The other was to focus on the portion of the story up to the escape from Midgar, allowing us to avoid omitting any important scenes and to expand on the original, by going deeper into the world and characters than before. Effectively it would be a new game with an emphasis on creating a realistic presentation with substance.

We decided that the latter is what the fans are looking for and would enjoy far more.

HHW: You totally reimagined the battle system in Final Fantasy Remake, was that done to give players the feeling that they are playing a brand-new game instead of just relieving the original?

Kitase: The battle system is a more action-oriented evolution of the original ATB (Active Time Battle) system. Players of the original should be familiar with the basics of the system in Final Fantasy VII Remake. This time around, we’ve also introduced elements like moving around, attacking, dodging, and blocking. There are still tactical elements, but the system we’ve created feels very dynamic and helps create a greater sense of immersion.

I believe this hybrid battle system will feel brand-new to both new players and fans of the original.

HHW: It has been revealed that when the first part drops, it will only cover the Midgar section of FF7 and will be a full-length game. Can you tell us exactly how many hours of gameplay players can look forward to?

Kitase: As each player enjoys content at a different pace, I’m afraid I’m unable to make a generalized statement. I would encourage everyone to just play the game to confirm that for themselves. I will say, it’s been designed to be comparable to full-length Final Fantasy titles, so I think it will give players an enjoyable experience.

HHW: The coronavirus is currently ravaging the world and shutting things down all over the globe. Do we have to worry about it affecting the release of the second part?

Kitase: Many companies, not just us, will be putting in various countermeasures such as remote work, etc. Looking at it in the mid- to long-term, I believe it is possible to overcome these difficult times.

Final Fantasy VII Remake launches April 10 only on PlayStation 4.

‘Final Fantasy VII Remake’ Shipping Early Due To Coronavirus Global Pandemic

'Final Fantasy VII Remake' Shipping Early To Ensure It Arrives On-Time

Source: Square Enix / Final Fantasy VII Remake

The folks at Square Enix have been working very hard to make sure that Final Fantasy VII Remake gets in the hands of fans on time amid the coronavirus pandemic. The studio has shared its solution.

No secret, gamers (including us) have been waiting for years for Final Fantasy VII Remake and were worried that game will have its wig pushed back due to the coronavirus shutdown. It seemed that things were heading in that direction with Square Enix warning physical copies of the game could be delayed because of the virus, but we can all relax.

Square Enix announced via Twitter that it has already shipped physical copies intended for Europe and Australia. By taking this precautionary measure, the game will be available at launch. The company also realizes in doing so, there is a chance that some people will get their hands on the game ahead of its global launch.

“Our highest priority is that all of you, including those who live in countries currently facing the biggest disruption, can play the game at launch, so we made the decision to ship the game earlier than usual to Europe and Australia.”

As far as other regions like the Americas, physical copies of the game will ship starting this week to ensure they too will get the game on time. Square Enix also urged people that do manage to somehow procure a copy of the game early to not spoil for it anyone else. Honestly, why in the world would you want to do that?

“There are potential spoilers that have been out there for over two decades as the original Final Fantasy VII was released in 1997… but Final Fantasy VII Remake is a new game that still has many surprises for everyone.”

Well, if you have been scouring the net, you would have learned its too late for that with screenshots popping up everywhere. So if you want to say spoiler-free, we’d advise you to stay off the internet as much as possible. Final Fantasy VII Remake is on pace to drop April 10, 2020.

These Ridiculously Long Games Will Help Pass The Time During The Coronavirus Shutdown

Red Dead Redemption 2 Gameplay Trailer

Source: Rockstar Games / Red Dead Redemption II

Outside of reading books, or binge-watching shows on your favorite streaming services, video games are an excellent way to keep yourself occupied. So, now is no better time to log in some serious hours on those games you have been sitting on.

We get it; being locked up in your crib as a result of the growing coronavirus pandemic is not fun at all, but you have to make the most of the situation. There are no group of people better suited to having to be hunkered down in the crib than gamers. It’s really like we have been preparing for this situation our entire lives.

Eventually, gamers get jobs, and they don’t have the hours to put into individual titles opting for shorter games that won’t consume all of their free time.

But with a lot of folks now home for the foreseeable future (we hope that is not the case) now is an excellent time to turn on that PlayStation 4, Xbox One X or Nintendo Switch and get to gaming and tackle those games that fall under the “long as hell” category.

You may have beat one or more of these titles already, doesn’t mean you can’t revisit them because they usually have excellent replay value. The main idea is to find a game that will take you a while to get through it, and that is expansive enough that you can’t just speed through it.

So hit the gallery below to see all of our suggestions, happy gaming, stay safe, and WASH YOUR HANDS.

8 Video Games We Are Excited To Pick Up The Sticks For In 2020

8 Games We Are Excited To Pick Up The Sticks For In 2020

Source: Square Enix / Final Fantasy VII Remake

2019 was an excellent year for video game fans thanks to games like Mortal Kombat 11, Resident Evil 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Sekiro, Death Stranding, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 just to name a few. 2020 is looking to keep the momentum from the previous year going boasting some strong titles coming to a console near you.

With Sony’s PS5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X on the horizon, that doesn’t mean the current generation of consoles is on its last legs. In fact, it’s the exact opposite due to the fact it’s going to take some time for gamers to make the jump to a next-generation console. Plus, they have some incentive to take their time doing so thanks to big games dropping this year that should help extend the life of the PlayStation 4, and Xbox One X for another year are so.

With that said, we decided to go through the long list of games expected to hit shelves in barring any delays that we feel should honestly be on your radar.

Now don’t feel any type of way if you think we may have missed one, but this is our list, you can definitely throw out a suggestion though, we will gladly appreciate it.

Hit the gallery below to see which video games have our full attention this year.
