We’ve been avoiding The Last of Us Part II leak like Future avoids paying his baby mamas.

Today (May.6) Naughty Dog rewarded those who didn’t dare look at any of those leaked cutscenes with an intense, dramatic trailer that hints at painful journey for Ellie full of loss and despair for the still highly-anticipated sequel to 2013’s The Last of Us.

Players will take control of Ellie, who is now an adult and is on a quest for revenge. The official synopsis for the game posted under the trailer states:

“After a vicious and violent event disrupts the relative peace that Ellie has found in Jackson, she sets out to bring justice to those responsible. As she hunts them down one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.”

The road to the game’s launch has been an extremely bumpy one following the announcement of the game initially dropping on February 20. Early April, Naughty Dog revealed the game will be delayed indefinitely due to it not being able to launch correctly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then the news of the unfortunate leak came with eager fans seizing the opportunity to look at the game’s central plot details and walking away disappointed.

We don’t know what they saw, but based on what we have seen in this trailer, we are definitely in store for another emotional thrill ride. The Last of Us Part II launches on PS4 on June 19, you can watch Ellie go ham below.

Damn Rona: Naughty Dog’s ‘The Last of Us Part II’ Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

'The Last of Us: Part II' Delayed Indefinitely Due To The Coronavirus

Source: PlayStation / Naughty Dog

This is bad news we did not want to hear. Naughty Dog’s highly-anticipated The Last of Us Part II has been delayed indefinitely.

You can blame this on the rona, of course.

Naughty Dog announced the unfortunate lousy news that did come with a silver lining. The good news the game is nearly done, but due to the massive spread of COVID-19, the studio feels the game will not be launched properly.

Per Naughty Dog:

As you’ve likely just seen, the release of The Last of Us Part II has been delayed. We’re sure this news is just as disappointing to you as it is to us. We wanted to reach out to all of you in our community to give you a little more information.

The good news is, we’re nearly done with development of The Last of Us Part II. We are in the midst of fixing our final bugs.

However, even with us finishing the game, we were faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn’t launch The Last of Us Part II to our satisfaction. We want to make sure everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part II around the same time, ensuring that we’re doing everything possible to preserve the best experience for everyone. This meant delaying the game until such a time where we can solve these logistic issues.

We were bummed about this decision but ultimately understood it’s what’s best and fair to all of our players. We’re hoping that this won’t be a long delay, and we’ll update you as soon as we have new information to share.

We wish you all, your families, and your friends the best of health. Thank you for being amazing fans and your continued support.

Stay safe!

PlayStation also announced that Iron Man VR also got its wig pushed back “until further notice” due to the coronavirus the company revealed in a tweet.

Bummer, well, at least we got the remakes of Resident Evil 3 and Final Fantasy VII to look forward to still this month.

The Last of Us Part II already was delayed and scheduled for a May 29 release, no new date has been announced.

HBO Announces Show Based On PlayStation’s Hit ‘The Last of Us’

TV Series Based On 'The Last of Us' Video Game Coming To HBO

Source: PlayStation / Naughty Dog

There’s television, then there is HBO. The cable network solidified as its position the premiere place for original shows with the announcement it will be adapting a TV series based on the insanely-popular PlayStation game, The Last of Us.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed HBO will be adapting Naughty Dog’s award-winning video game, and Chernobyl’s creator, Craig Mazin, will be joining alongside the game’s creative director, Neil Druckmann to bring the show to life. If you have seen Chernobyl, you already know this show is in good hands.

The show will directly follow The Last of Us‘ plot and follow Joel, “a wearied survivor” and a young girl named Ellie. Viewers will seem them navigate a post-apocalyptic world that has been ravaged by a disease that infects humans and turns them into zombie-like creatures called “clickers.” Joel’s primary mission is to help smuggle the 14-year-old girl and get her to safety because she might be the key to saving humanity.

Speaking with THR, Mazin had nothing but glowing words about working with Neil Druckmann:

“Neil Druckmann is without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and ‘The Last of Us’ is his magnum opus. Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honored to do it in partnership with Neil.”

Druckmann also added how blown away by Mazin’s approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of the game.

“From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig, I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of ‘The Last of Us.’ With ‘Chernobyl,’ Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn’t think of better partners to bring the story of ‘The Last of Us’ to life as a television show. I’m beyond excited to collaborate with them.”

The show will be co-produced by PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Television. As far as who will have the honor of playing both Joel and Ellie that is still up in the air. Don’t expect actress Ellen Page who many fans would love to be cast as Ellie to be on that list, she already called out Naughty Dog for using her likeness without her permission.

If the show is successful in its first season and chances are very high it will be, you can expect the second season to follow the events that will take place in the game’s sequel, The Last of Us: Part II which made our list of games to play this year.

Consider us extremely hyped. If you need a quick refresher about The Last of Us, you can peep the trailer for the groundbreaking game below.

‘The Last of Us Part II’ Gets A Release Date, New Trailer & Launch Details

'The Last of Us Part II' Launch Date & New Trailer

Source: PlayStation / Naughty Dog

It was no surprise PlayStation finally gave us another look at the long-awaited and highly-anticipated Naughty Dog game, The Last of Us Part II during yesterday’s (Sept 24) stream. What we got was another brutal glimpse into the world of the young protagonist, Ellie.

The new trailer comes on the heels of Outbreak Day (September 26), which is when the cordyceps fungus decimated the fictional world in The Last of Us changing the lives of Ellie and Joel forever. If you thought the first trailer was dark — which many people complained about — then this one won’t help change their minds. This second trailer is keeping the same energy, and for that, we are pleased.

In the roughly three-minute clip which has amassed over 2 million views already, we see a much older and hardened Ellie who is now the lead. Like the previous game, she is taking on the infected or as they are called int he game “clickers” as well as non-infected human antagonists. We also see Ellie traveling the disease ravaged world via horseback and on a boat. Near the end of the trailer, we get a glimpse of Joel, the first title’s lead protagonist. For those who don’t remember, he risked it all despite reservations to save Ellie in what is considered one of the most climactic end sequences ever in a video game.

In his brief appearance, he tells Ellie, “you think I’d let you do this on your own?” giving us the impression that he will be joining Ellie on her new quest. Along with the trailer, we finally know when to expect the game to drop…finally. The Last of Us Part II arrives on PlayStation 4 February 21, 2020. Along with that news, PlayStation unveiled the various editions of the game that are dropping.

On launch day you can get either the Standard Edition ($59.99), Digital Deluxe Edition ($69.99) or Special Edition ($79.99). If you opt to go the digital route, you will get a dynamic PS4 theme, 6 PSN Avatars, digital soundtrack, and a digital mini art book from Dark Horse. Pre-order bonuses include an Ammo Capacity Upgrade and Crafting Training Manual. The Special Edition features everything mentioned above except the soundtrack, but you do get a steel book with your purchase of a physical copy of the game.

But wait there is more. There is also a The Last of Us Part II Collector’s Edition ($169.99) and Ellie Edition ($229.99).

The Collector’s Edition includes:

  • A 12” Ellie statue
  • A life-sized replica of Ellie’s bracelet
  • A custom SteelBook case
  • 48-page mini art book from Dark Horse
  • A set of six enamel pins
  • Lithograph art print.
  • A set of five stickers.
  • Plus a voucher to download digital content.

The Ellie Edition of The Last of Us Part II includes everything listed above plus:

  • A full-sized, fully functional recreation of Ellie’s backpack,
  • An embroidered patch
  • A 7” vinyl record featuring music from the original soundtrack.

You are definitely getting your bang for your buck with each edition. You can watch the trailer for The Last of Us Part II below.
