An explosive case unfolded today after news that Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Felipe Vazquez was slapped with several charges in connection to his relationship with a minor girl. Police were able to close in on the 28-year-old MLB All-Star due to the distinctive tattoos on his arm.

TMZ Sports
exclusively reports:

Pittsburgh Pirates all-star pitcher Felipe Vazquez was arrested this morning in Pennsylvania on some truly disturbing charges including solicitation of a 13-year-old girl.

The 28-year-old closer — considered one of the best pitchers in baseball — was taken into custody in Pittsburgh stemming from an arrest warrant out of Florida.

Officials say they were investigating allegations Vasquez had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl in Lee County, Florida.

According to officials, the girl, now 15 years old, WAS continuing to have a relationship with Vasquez and had received a video in July from the MLB star performing a “sex act.”

Officials say Vasquez also sent the girl text messages suggesting they would meet for sex after the MLB season ended.

Several electronic devices were seized from Vasquez’s apartment in Pittsburgh during the investigation.

In subsequent updates, and a report from CBS Pittsburgh adding to the details, it has since come out that Vazquez is facing three felony charges — statutory sexual assault of a minor 11 years or older; unlawful contact with a minor; and corruption of minors — as well as one misdemeanor, indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old.

Vazquez appeared in court in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania Tuesday and was denied bail with other charges said to be pending.

Mac Miller Fans Will Unite in Pittsburgh’s Blue Slide Park For the One Year Anniversary of His Death

As we approach one full year since the untimely passing of Mac Miller, the loss of such a talented and influential figure to Hip-Hop is still hard for many to wrap their heads around. Thankfully, his fans are proving that no one has to mourn alone by arranging a link-up to celebrate Mac’s life on the one year anniversary of his death.

The special event is expected to take place fittingly in the Blue Slide Park section of Frick Park in Pittsburgh. Not only is it the hometown of the rapper, but the park section itself holds huge significance — it’s also the title of his debut studio album that became the first independently-distributed debut LP to go No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since Tha Dogg Pound’s Dogg Food in 1995. The gathering is being arranged by the Mac Miller Memoir Twitter account (seen above), and they’re planning to play music videos and listen to his discography of hits, mixtapes and probably some unreleased joints for the entire duration of the day starting at noon.

The Blue Slide Park event in commemoration of Mac Miller’s one-year death anniversary will happen on September 7, 2019. Stay tuned to @MacMillerMemoir on Twitter for all the updates.

Supreme Court To Hear Case Of Rapper Who Threatened Pittsburgh Cops

The Supreme Court of the United States

Source: Garen Meguerian / Getty

Pittsburgh rapper Jamal Knox found himself on the wrong end of the law after dropping a scathing song issuing threats against city police, leading to his conviction for making terroristic threats. With the state’s high court upholding the conviction, Knox is aiming to appeal the decision in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, which looks to be a tall order so far.

Raw Story writes:

Last August, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court upheld Jamal Knox’s conviction on the charge of making terroristic threats against two Pittsburgh police officers in a rap song he posted on YouTube.

Taking a page out of N.W.A.‘s playbook, he had also called his song “F–k the Police” and directed it at the officers, who had earlier arrested him and another rapper on drug charges.

So what did Knox say in his rap that was interpreted as a threat and landed him in trouble with the law? Here’s a snippet in which he names the two officers:

This first verse is for Officer Zeltner and all you fed force b—-es/And Mr. Kosko, you can suck my d–k you keep on knocking my riches/You want beef, well cracker I’m wit it, that whole department can get it/All these soldiers in my committee gonna f–k over you b—-es/F–k the, f–k the police, b–ch, I said it loud.

This may offend, but as the Supreme Court wrote in 2017, “speech may not be banned on the ground that it expresses ideas that offend.” For example, the Court protected the right to protest the Vietnam War by wearing a jacket reading “F–k the Draft” in a public courthouse.

The piece from Raw Story, written by Clay Calvert, director of the Marion B. Brechner First Amendment Project at the University of Florida, is a fascinating read. Check out the rest here.

Ill Advanced – “Sheep In Wolfs Clothing” (Album Review)

Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller (RIP), Pittsburgh has produced several of Today’s Hip-Hop brightest stars. Boiling pot, Pennsylvania continues to create promising new sensations like up-and-coming recording artist Ill Advanced. On the launchpad and prepared to take off, Advanced brings the world to the P with his latest project, creatively-titled, Sheep in Wolfs Clothing. A decade in the making, Ill Advanced is ready to share his story with the world but will the world listen to what Ill has to say?

Sheep in Wolfs Clothing takes a based on a true story approach from the rising star. Produced entirely by Ill Advanced-himself, takes a more lighthearted approach than usual. On the 10-track effort, he expresses his values and concerns, remaining true to himself. Ill Advanced noted that the project was inspired by life, death, ups, downs, smiles, and frowns.

Stream Ill Advanced New LP, Sheep In Wolfs Clothing, below.

Merely 10 tracks, the project’s production plays out like a three-hour silent filmed. Lo-fi vintage sound, old soul samples, Ill Advanced drag out the project’s sound and falls on deaf ears due to annoyance. Understood the sound is meant to be unique; however, Ill Advanced suffers from disconnect due to its slow paced delivery. With the sound as the foundation, on the project, Ill Advanced entire body of work collapses due to poor roots.

While the production is lackluster, Ill Advanced’s lyricism shines among the disorientation. Throughout the project, while Ill’s production declines, his lyrical abilities elevate with thought-provoking content, unique metaphors, and impactful realism. Learning a lot about the up-and-coming artist’s personal story, Ill Advanced is compelling verbally but is drowning with tiresome productions.

Told like a bedtime story, Wolf in Sheeps Clothing‘s pace will, unfortunately, tire out listeners way ahead of the conclusion. While the lyricism is exceptional, the duration is simply unnecessary, unappealing, and uncomfortable. Faster, Ill Advanced lyricism would be more noticeable, there would be a natural rhymic bounce and a better understanding of the message Ill Advance wants to get across. Ill Advanced is an elite-level lyricist, with minor tweaks and delegation to others, and we can expect the best Ill Advance yet.

Ratings: 7/10
