Kendrick Lamar shares the official cover art to the highly-anticipated new album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers which drops this Friday (May 13) everywhere via Interscope/Aftermath/Top Dawg/pgLang.
The cover features a throne-crowned wearing Kung Fu Kenny with his family and a gun in his back waist-band, holding his oldest child, while his wife, Whitney Alford, sits on the bed, holding their infant child with the impression of breastfeeding. The cover arrives several days after Lamar released the upcoming album’s single “The Heart Part 5” which has received huge attention due to the visual’s homage to the likes of O.J. Simpson, Kanye West, Jessie Smollett, Will Smith, and the late-Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle.
Kendrick’s latest visual, released last Sunday evening (May 9), samples the 1976 Marvin Gaye–classic “I Want You” and has already accumulated over 17 million views-and-growing on YouTube in two days. The song and video have received praise from all over pop culture and entertainment. “The Heart Part 5” is set to appear on Kendrick’s forthcoming fifth studio album — his first album release in five years.
In August 2021, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers was revealed as Kendrick’s “final” album with his original recording home, Top Dawg Entertainment. “As I produce my final TDE album, I feel joy to have been a part of such a cultural imprint after 17 years,” Lamar shared in a message on his oklama website at the time. “The Struggles. The Success. And most importantly, the Brotherhood.” He released his debut album under Top Dawg in 2012 with Good Kid M.A.A.D. City — and with the label Kendrick earned a Pultizer Prize in 2018 for his 2017 album, DAMN.
Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers drops Friday on all digital streaming platforms.

Ari Lennox may have called it quits as a signed artist.
The “Shea Butter Baby” singer recently provided fans with an update to her album last Monday, saying she only “need 4 more songs and the album done.” The tweet only heightened the anticipation for her sophomore project. Two days later she tweeted that she might have the 10 songs she needed for the album’s completions.
Back in September, she dropped the album’s potential lead single produced by Jermaine Duper Bryan-Michael Cox and Elite, entitled “Pressure.”
After an inappropriate question during an interview, where the interviewer unseemly asked Ari Lennox about her sex life, Ari called it the “icing on the cake.”
She took to Twitter to tell more than 748K followers that she wants “to be dropped from the labels.”
“I’m done and tired,” tweeted Lennox.
I want to be dropped from the labels. I’m done and tired.
Currently, she is signed to J. Cole’s Dreamville label through Interscope Records.
After one fan commented that she won’t be missed if she leaves music, she responded.
“You judgemental self hating parasites wouldn’t last a day as a signed artist.”
For Christ sakes. I realize I have no hits. I realize you all can live without hearing my music. I realize my complaining is so aggravating to y’all . I don’t ask blogs to post me when I’m at my worst. You judgemental self hating parasites wouldn’t last a day as a signed artist.
One fan stepped in to defend the “BMO” singer listed her certified records including “Got Me, “BMO,” and “Shea Butter Baby,” which were certified gold and platinum respectively.
Lennox’s true supporters hope that her tweet was only a momentarily and not a permanent decision. Ari Lennox is one of many leading women in new-age R&B and fans would hate to see her leave in such a short period.
The Washington D.C. native released her debut album, Shea Butter Baby back in 2019.
Interscope Records announced it has partnered with Neil Dominique’s #JUSTAREGULARLABEL. The first release under the new deal is from rising singer/rapper/songwriter Ryan Trey whose EP A 64 East Saga was released on Friday. The label is also set to release new material from Brooklyn-born neo-soul singer Nia Sultana later this month.
“Neil has been able to identify and develop some incredibly exciting artists and we’re looking forward to working closely with him and his team to launch them into the world,” said Nicole Wyskoarko, EVP/Co-Head of A&R at Interscope Geffen A&M.
Senior Vice President of A&R and Creative Director at Interscope, Randall “Sickamore” Medford commented, “It’s been amazing to watch Neil’s rapid ascension from Chairman’s assistant to entrepreneur and #JUSTAREGULARLABEL CEO. There’s absolutely nothing regular about his passion and ears. He’s starting off hot with Ryan Trey and Nia Sultana, But it’s only the beginning of a long relationship.”
Neil Dominique began his career under the tutelage of some of the heaviest hitters in the business, first working as an intern for Jermaine Dupri and then as an assistant to Sean “Diddy” Combs. As his relationship with Diddy grew, Neil transitioned out of his assistant role and began working for several of his businesses, including in A&R at Bad Boy Records. In his A&R role, Neil worked with artists such as Diddy, Travis Scott, French Montana, Jeremih, and more. In 2015 Dominique launched #JUSTAREGULARDAY Management, having early success with Bryson Tiller and later with Pardison Fontaine and a number of sought-after producers.
“Nicole and Sickamore and the entire A&R team have been crucial guides to me and my team as we developed Ryan and Nia’s latest projects,” said Dominique. “I’m looking forward to working closely with the entire Interscope team as we introduce these important new artists into the marketplace.”
