Chain Gang: J. Prince Gets YBN Almighty Jay’s Chain Back From NYC Goons

J. Prince didn’t become a certified triple OG by way of lip service, and the cool, calm and collected mogul showed and proved that fact once again. The Rap-A-Lot Records honcho has retrieved the stolen chain taken from YBN Almighty Jay and the streets are showing their respects.

A week ago, Prince made a public call via Instagram to demand that the thieves who robbed Almighty Jay of his chain in New York be brought to street justice.

Prince tagged several Bronx notables as that’s where the jux occurred, and the blowback from the younger generation and online observers got disrespectful real quick. Unphased, Prince addressed the entertainers he tagged and the down-talkers in his usual fashion just a few days ago.

I want to take this time to clarify my message to the people I tagged on my previous post. @funkflex @mysonnenygeneral @fredthegodsonmusic @ounp1523 @artisthbtl @iamcardib @hocus45th @corygunz174 @fatjoe @therealswizzz @remyma Let me make myself clear. I was never asking any of y’all for help in any capacity. I don’t need you, I don’t know you, or trust any of y’all to do anything concerning the streets for me. With that being said I witnessed a clown campaigning, bragging, and snitching on himself on a public video about robbing industry people in your backyard so I took it upon myself to alert the ones I have respect for. It is clear to me that went over some of y’all heads. Just for more clarity Ive been having ties in the Bronx and throughout New York for a long time and now it’s gotten even stronger with my youngstas. So don’t give any of the people I tagged credit for what others earn because they all strangers to me other than music. To all of you so called gangster clowns there’s a time and a place for everything and I’m going to give you what you ask for. To all of you that’s trying to narrow down my message to me wanting a chain lacks the depth of understanding that real street niggas have. That’s why you are all squares. There’s a movement taking place by the timid and the weak that wants to change the meaning of strong to weak and the meaning of weak to strong. My track record speaks for itself so I won’t lip wrestle with punks. I notice a lot of young men on the east coast that like to invite men to suck on their private parts then call themselves gangsters but real men don’t invite other men to suck their dicks unless they’re gay. I guess if the man you’re asking to suck on you say “ok” you’re gonna get naked? Now that you know better hopefully you punk ass niggas will do better. Or maybe it feels good being a punk ass nigga?

And in true OG fashion, Prince took to IG once more to let people know that his “mob ties” are very much a real thing and that he’ll be bringing the chain back to his young protege. It isn’t known what Prince did to make this happen but the less we know, the better.

Real recognizes real in every hood and has a way of connecting in spite of clowns and squares. – – The homies from the Bronx, KT, @hocus45th and @frenchmontana kept it real with me and my son @jprincejr – – Tho it was never about the chain, it was about the name that was built off of blood sweat and tears. – – I welcome these brothers to our #MobTies movement and look forward to us doing business in the future together. – – There’s power in numbers and when strong brothers from the streets align themselves with one another, suckas tremble. So I can only imagine how some of you are feeling right now! – – I’ve invited these homies to #htown for @jprincejr birthday celebration March 28-31, 2019 and I look forward to coming to the Bronx soon. – – The big picture here is the same as I stated in my first post, to not allow moment thinkers to muddy the waters over the movement. – – To @ybnalmightyjay I’ll be returning your jewelry soon Lil homie. – – To be continued… #TheArtAndScienceOfRespect

Veteran Houston Rapper Z-Ro Has Just Brittany Domestic Assault Case Dismissed

Celebrity Sightings in New York City - July 06, 2016

Z-Ro found himself in hot water in 2017 after he was charged with beating his then-girlfriend Just Brittany in a case that had several back and forths with the courts. Now, the veteran Houston rapper had the domestic violence charges against him dropped after he worked out a plea agreement.

TMZ reports:

According to court docs, prosecutors in Texas moved to dismiss a misdemeanor assault charge against Z-Ro. He’d been booked and charged for beating Brittany during what she said was an hours-long ordeal.

In docs, prosecutors say there was probable cause to move forward with the case, but they decided to drop it after Z-Ro completed a batter’s intervention program. A judge signed off on the dismissal Tuesday.

As we reported … prosecutors charged Z-Ro with assault on a family member, a Class A misdemeanor — this after a grand jury declined to indict him on felony assault charges.

The outlet adds that while Z-Ro’s representation urged him to take the plea deal, his client is sticking with claims that he is innocent.

Police Arrest 2 Black Men Linked To Murder Of Jazmine Barnes #JazmineBarnes

The senseless killing of 7-year-old Texas girl Jazmine Barnes inspired a rash of discussion about race relations and gun violence when it was thought that the suspect was a white man who carried out the crime. Two Black men were arrested in connection to Barnes’ death in what appears to be a case of mistaken identity.

Local outlet ABC13.com reports:

An investigation tip led authorities to 20-year-old Eric Black Jr. who has been charged with capital murder in the deadly shooting and a second suspect has been taken into custody.

An investigation revealed evidence that corroborated the tip, authorities say, and Black was taken into custody in east Harris County without incident. He later reportedly admitted to taking part in the shooting.

Black appeared in court just before 5 a.m. Sunday. During court, it was revealed the suspects learned they had fired into the wrong vehicle after watching the news.

Documents also revealed sources stated the suspected vehicle in the deadly shooting was not the red pickup truck, and that Black was driving a rental vehicle of unknown description.

According to a judge, Black returned the vehicle after the shooting and got a new rental – which he was driving at the time of the arrest.

As stated in reports and accounts from police, Larry Woodruffe, the second suspect in the case, is believed to be the shooter.

Funeral services for Barnes will take place on Tuesday (Jan. 8).

A senseless killing that took place in the Houston area this past weekend has rocked the nation, and police are on a manhunt for the suspect. Jazmine Barnes, 7, was shot and killed when a white man opened fire into her mother’s vehicle for reasons she says are unknown.

Houston Chronicle reports:

The slaying of young Jazmine Barnes — which stunned the region and attracted nationwide attention — drew questions Wednesday from local activists about whether the attack was racially motivated, with the reported white gunman targeting the black family in their car outside a Walmart just a few miles from a similar shooting 16 months earlier.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said detectives have been working around the clock since the Sunday shooting.

“We will not rest until we solve this case,” he told reporters. “It’s not easy. We need help, but I’m confident we’re heading in the right direction.

“We need to be very deliberate in this process,” he said, “because ultimately we want to make sure we get to the right person.”

Activist Shaun King and civil rights attorney Lee Merritt are offering up to $100,000 for tips leading to the capture and arrest of the suspect.

Bun B & Gary Clark Jr. Perform A Heartfelt Tribute To Pimp C

Next month, Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap turns one. That same week, Nip’s major label debut in a discography filled with elite mixtapes will compete for “Best Rap Album” at the Grammy Awards (February 10). If it gets the win, Nip’ will have come a long way from his decade as an underground hero in Los Angeles, California’s Crenshaw district.

Victory Lap is still making its rounds. The title track is one of the highlights in the All Money In No Money Out/Atlantic Records LP. Featuring Stacy Barthe, the track adheres to Hussle’s mixtape narratives of moving with care through the ‘hood and refusing to compromise. That formula took him to the top, even if it was a journey where trusting the process was essential.

The video sees Nipsey Hussle journeying from Crenshaw to a luxury beachfront destination in Mexico. It parallels his 2018, which shows no signs of stopping—win or no win.

The opening song from the LP is co-produced by Mike & Keys. The production duo formerly known as The Futuristiks, has a decade in the game. They’ve worked on albums by Redman, 50 Cent, and Domo Genesis, as well as longtime collaboration with Neighborhood Nip’.

To celebrate what would have been Pimp C’s 45th birthday on December 29, Bun B dropped an emotive live rendition of his recent tribute to his close friend and partner in UGK. It has been 11 years since highly influential MC/producer Chad Butler passed away in West Hollywood due to complications codeine syrup consumption related to his sleep apnea.

Pimp had started Underground Kingz with Bun in their hometown of Port Arthur, Texas when the two were just teens in the last 1980s. The duo dropped their debut, Too Hard To Swallow, with Jive Records in 1992, and they released their fifth studio album, Underground Kingz, exactly four months before Butler’s untimely passing on December 7, 2007. With some help from affiliates OutKast and Three 6 Mafia, that Jive LP went to #1 for a group long known for its Underground status.

After a five year hiatus from solo albums, Bun made a comeback in 2018 with his well-received fifth album Return Of The Trill. The offering includes a heartfelt dedication to his late great compatriot, “Gone Away,” that features Gary Clark Jr. and Leon Bridges. A live version of the sorrowful yet celebratory song performed by Bun and Clark Jr. has now been made public. Bridges strums his electric guitar while Bun raps his verse without a waver. Viewers can see the pain in the Houston legend’s face as he joins in on the chorus.

Arrest Warrant Issued For Tekashi 6ix9ine In Texas Assault Case Despite Him Being In Federal Custody

The drama just won’t stop for this guy.

Despite the fact that Tekashi 6ix9ine is currently incarcerated in NYC without bail on federal charges, a Houston judge has issued a bench warrant for the 22 year old Brooklyn rapper stemming from an alleged assault on a teen in a local mall.

Even though Santiago Albarran appeared at one of Tek’s hearings, declaring that he didn’t want to press charges against the “Gummo” emcee, the judge still found it necessary to follow protocol and issue a warrant for Tekashi, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez.

Federal prosecutors have been looking into the Chief Keef shooting in NYC and 6ix9ine’s possible involvement, but no warrants have been issued in that case at this time.
