The Hip-Hop Police have long been a non-secret in the NYPD. Hundreds of pages of the NYPD’s Enterprise Operations Unit aka “the Rap Unit” have exposed their inner working and tactics.

The New York Post dug up the material that gives a glimpse into how the unit operates, including posting undercover cops at rap shows. Even the DEA gets involved.

Says the Post:

Officers assigned to the unit draw up weekly entertainment reports about scheduled hip-hop shows at city clubs, and designate each as posing a low, medium or high risk for violence or other crimes.

That information is passed on to local precinct commanders and intelligence officers in the field, with local cops in turn flagging shootings and other incidents associated with clubs in their precincts.

The records tie the cops assigned to the Rap Unit to a program called the New York/New Jersey High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, which uses federal money and resources — including Drug Enforcement Administration agents — to crack down on narcotics production and sales.

The Post detailed how the Rap Unit sent an undercover cop to a show at Irving Plaza last year to basically keeps tabs on Remy Ma and a member of her crew, Jahmeek “Jah” Elliot per the records obtained by the newspaper. This was a different show from the one where Remy allegedly gave her ex-reality show co-star Brittney Taylor a black eye.

Remy Ma’s lawyer denies his client is even associated with Elliot, who has a lengthy rap sheet.

Any rapper doing dirt in NYC is basically asking for a trip to the bing, ask Tekashi69. Peep the full story right here.

Lil Wayne Canceled Rolling Loud Set Because of Mandatory Police Search

Fans who had high hopes of watching Lil Wayne perform at the 2019 Rolling Loud Festival were sadly disappointed.

Weezy announced that he was no longer gracing the stage at the festival on Twitter because they made it mandatory that he gets searched and policed while being on stadium grounds. Tunechi’s argument was that he was there to work and shouldn’t have to endure feeling like a criminal just to do his job.

“To all my fans who came to see me at Rolling Loud, I’m sorry but I won’t be performing,” Tunechi tweeted. “The Festival Police (Not Rolling Loud) made it mandatory that I had to be policed and checked to get on the stadium grounds. I do not and will not ever settle for being policed to do my job and give you guys a great show.”

But he did end the tweet on a light note. “I will be at Story tonight for the afterparty and you kan katch me on tour with my bros Blink 182 this summer!” Weezy added in another tweet.

Luckily for Rolling Loud, Meek Mill was in the area and took the stage in Lil Wayne’s place.

Meek Mill Pulled Over By Cops In Jamaica For Photo [Video]

Meek Mill continues to be reminded that being a high profile celebrity comes with a share of headaches. He recently was stopped so the badges could a flick with him.

As per Vibe the Maybach Music Group MC was recently living his best life in Kingston, Jamaica. While on route to his destination he and his entourage were pulled over by local police on the highway. Naturally the detainment had him on edge but come to find out they just wanted a flick.

The Philadelphia native took video of the incident from his phone while giving commentary with a terrible Jamaican accent. “You’re trying to take a picture, mon? I’m f**ked up! Y’all pulled us over and y’all said y’all want a picture, mon? Y’all scared us! We’re scared of police! We thought we were getting locked up!”

Thankfully they were allowed to go once the photos were taken. Later that night Meek and company were seen partying with copious amounts of cash, Hennessy and strippers at an undisclosed location.

Let’s hope this behavior will not derail his chances at getting a fair trail as Judge Brinkley remains on his case despite several alleged inappropriate statements made and other irregularities.

Bobby Shmurda’s Mother Says he’s in ‘Good Spirits’

Bobby Shmurda is in “good spirits” and beginning the countdown until his release in December 2020.

His mother gave an update on Instagram following a “Great visit with my stinky.” In the caption, Mama Shmurda assured that the Hot N*gga was ready to return to work. “Great visit with my stinky…..the count down continues 22 months to go. Chewy is in great spirits he sends his Love and he can not wait to be back to work,” she wrote.

The rapper was indicted in December 2014, fresh off the heels of his breakout hit, “Hot N*gga” going viral. He still owes us a major label debut and apparently it’s on the way.

Despite being locked up for the past five years, Bobby Shmurda was featured on Tekashi 6ix9ine’s DUMMY BOY collection. Ironically, Tekashi is currently in some legal trouble and may not be coming home anytime soon.
