Billboard Music Awards Confuses Post Malone’s ‘Rockstar’ With DaBaby’s Track of the Same Name

Billboard Music Awards Confuses Post Malone's 'Rockstar' With DaBaby's Track of the Same Name

DaBaby and Post Malone both have a Hot 100 No. 1 single of the same title, but Billboard could not tell the difference during last night’s award show.

On Sunday, May 23, the Billboard Music Awards honored a number of artists who have delivered nothing but hits over the past year. DaBaby unequivocally fits into that sector after “Rockstar” spent 8 weeks atop the Hot 100 charts. The “Charlotte” native took home two awards for “Best Rap Song,” and “Top Streaming Song” at last night’s award show.

Apparently, the BBMA staff didn’t know which “Rockstar” it is because they played the track of the same name by Post Malone. While both songs topped the Hot 100 charts and were nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammy’s, they are two completely different tracks by different artists.

While it is apparent that DaBaby noticed like the rest of Twitter, he went with the flow by giving thanks to a number of people including his supporters.

Lately, we’ve seen the Charlotte native back in the studio. He recently linked with Bobby Shmurda. As the Summer approaches, the two can only be gearing up for something to welcome everyone back outside.

Are y’all ready for a Shmurda Baby track?

DJ Khaled, Migos and H.E.R. Perform “We Going Crazy” at 2021 BBMAs

DJ Khaled, Migos and H.E.R. Perform "We Going Crazy" at 2021 BBMAs

For the last month, DJ Khaled has been everywhere pushing singles from his Khaled Khaled album. Last night, during the Billboard Music Awards, Khaled hit the stage with Migos and H.E.R. to kick off the show with their single “We Going Crazy.”

The Khaled Khaled album became Khaled’s third top album on the Billboard 200 and featured JAY-Z, Nas, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, and more alongside the aforementioned performers.

Earlier this month, Khaled was called the Quincy Jones of Hip-Hop.

“People take away the greatness from Khaled,” Fat Joe said. “And they say, ‘Well he just gets a bunch of big-time rappers and puts them on the same song.’ There’s a million DJs and producers that try that. And those ain’t hit records. And it’s been a long time since we’ve heard Nas and Jay-Z on what to me sounds like a smash hit. That’s a smash hit. They can play it on the radio, it’s streaming incredibly. So, Khaled really is the Quincy Jones of hip-hop right now.”

You can read more on that here and see the performance below.
