Barbados Separates From Queen Elizabeth, Names Rihanna A National Hero

Rihanna national hero

Barbados is saying goodbye to the British monarchy while declaring pop icon Rihanna a national hero.

The announcement came during the ceremony of removing Queen Elizabeth as the island nation’s head of state.

The Caribbean nation declared its independence from the UK in 1966 but remained part of the British Empire, with Elizabeth the Second as Queen of Barbados.

That is until now.

Overnight, the country parted ways with the Queen and officially became the Republic of Barbados.

The newly independent republic Barbados also named beauty entrepreneur and Grammy- winning star Rihanna a national hero.

Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced the music superstar would be honored as National Hero of Barbados.

The declaration lauded Rihanna’s “extraordinary commitment to the land of her birth.”

The Caribbean island is ringing with new freedom marking the final break from Barbados’ past as a British colony.

Rihanna, A$AP Rocky Dating Rumors Fueled as Rapper is Spotted at Barbados Airport

Days after Rihanna was spotted at a gas station in Barbados, her rumored boyfriend, A$AP Rocky was seen at the airport.

From the looks of the size of his luggage, the Harlem rapper is going to spend the holidays there and it’s most likely going to be with Riri.

This is the time of the year when all situationships get straightened out and you know exactly where you stand in a person’s life. These musicians are clearly cozying up.

“It’s important to be with friends and family – but I feel at such peace when I am there. It is the most beautiful place, with incredible, beaches, food and people,” the Fenty CEO disclosed in a recent interview about her holiday plans.

Rihanna announces that plans “to take my music and my brands to a different level.”

The beauty mogul announced that she’s planning to release a Caribbean cookbook because she “loves food from my Barbadian roots and eats a lot of fresh fish,” but also enjoys comfort food and drink like “mac ‘n’ cheese, Shepherd’s pie, and rum punch.”

Rihanna has always proudly repped her home country of Barbados, and now she can officially call herself an official member of its government. The superstar singer and businesswoman was named an ambassador for the island nation, adding to all the bags and other honors she’s collected over the years.

From the nation’s Government Information Service:

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley stated that Government was honoured to be able to confer the title on this outstanding Barbadian who has contributed significantly to raising the island’s profile across the world.

“Rihanna has a deep love for this country and this is reflected in her philanthropy, especially in the areas of health and education. She also shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to this country and continues to treasure the island as her home.

“She has also demonstrated, beyond her success as a pop icon, significant creative acumen and shrewdness in business. It is therefore fitting that we engage and empower her to play a more definitive role as we work to transform Barbados,” Ms. Mottley stated, noting that her charitable contributions, both locally and internationally, have also been significant.

Rihanna’s official title is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and she will help promote tourism, education, and investment across the island in the new role.

In a statement, the artist born Robyn Fenty said, “I couldn’t be more proud to take on such a prestigious title in my home country. Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility.”

Congratulations, Rihanna!

Rihanna is Appointed as an Ambassador of Barbados

Rihanna is out here doing everything but giving us new music but we can’t even be mad at her.

The singer, actress, beauty mogul, and philanthropist has been appointed “Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary” to her home country of Barbados.

According to a statement from the Barbados Government Information Office, the position gives the celeb “specific responsibility for promoting education, tourism and investment for the island.”
Riri became one of Barbados cultural ambassadors in 2008, doing promotional work for its tourism ministry. But her new title comes with new responsibilities.
“Plenipotentiary” is defined as “a person, especially a diplomat, invested with the full power of independent action on behalf of their government, typically in a foreign country.”
Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said in the statement that her government was honored “to be able to confer the title on this outstanding Barbadian who has contributed significantly to raising the island’s profile across the world.”

The singer said in a statement that she “couldn’t be more proud to take on such a prestigious title in my home country.”
“Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility,” Rihanna said. “I look forward to working with Prime Minister Mottley and her team to reimagine Barbados.”
