Q&A With Buffalo, NY Based Artist Struggle Mike

Congratulations on your latest album release “The Great Escape”. We checked it out and we really enjoyed the fresh new sound & perspective on new Hip Hop coming out of Buffalo, NY. What motivated you to create this style of music. And how did you come up with your MC name Struggle Mike?

I just wanted to put out good music and collab with artists that come into my spot and show more work out of buffalo. The guys from BSF named me struggle mike

How is the underground sound out in Buffalo, NY? From what we know, that city is booming with great Hip Hop from all around the city, really bubbling.

It has a versatile sound of all sorts. Its really booming.

How are you dealing with this whole nationwide lock-down due to Covid-19 Corona Virus? Has this effected your music career in any way?

We are trying to take as many precautions are necessary to try and it just gives us more time to make more music.

Who are you biggest underground influences?

Big L, MF doom and jedi mind tricks

You recently dropped a new album “The Great Escape” across all streaming platforms! Please give us some background on that project!?

It started with just recording a verse from Benny the Butcher for a track and then quickly turned into this project.

How does social media play a role on pushing Struggle Mike music.

Instagram was a good tool to promote and push the album.

What are a few different moves your making for 2020 when it comes to your music career?

Just making more music. I already have 2 more albums done and all ready started working on a 4th.

Our most popular question….What is your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?

To me it always the start of something fresh. All hip hop starts from underground until everyone else catches on.
