Harvey Weinstein to Get Transferred From Rikers Island to New York State Prison

It hasn’t even been a month since Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison and he’s moved around more than a cranky baby.

He was admitted to Bellevue Hospital because his blood pressure spiked, but was shortly discharged and went back to Rikers Island. After two days, he is being transferred to a New York State prison.

Weinstein’s legal team requested that he stay in Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, N.Y. because it has a medical facility. It’s unclear what was wrong with Rikers North Infirmary Command, but it probably wasn’t up to the disgraced producer’s standard.

The 67-year-old has suffered from heart problems and other health conditions since being in custody on February 23rd. It’s unclear if Harvey Weinstein will remain in Fishkill or be moved later.

New York State prisons have suspended inmate visitation except for non-contact attorney visits due to the coronavirus pandemic.
