A$AP Rocky Back in the U.S., Vows to Never Return to Sweden

Flacko is home.

A$AP Rocky returned to the United States just after midnight on Saturday (Aug. 3) after being released from Swedish custody following a month in jail. According to TMZ, the rapper was “downright gleeful” after his private jet touched down at LAX after a long flight from Sweden.

Rocky was ecstatic, smiling as he took photos and hugged people. He stayed in the private terminal parking lot for around 45 minutes, talking and joking most of the time.

The judges in his criminal case allowed him to leave the country pending a verdict. All signs point to a not guilty verdict. Prosecutors in the assault case asked the judges to keep Rocky behind bars because he remained a flight risk, but the judges disagreed.

Sources tell TMZ that he plans to never return to Sweden. Although he never made race an issue in his assault case, privately everyone in his camp thinks it was a factor. His legal team decided it would be best for him not to take the stand on the racial issue, for fear of inflaming the judges.

Prosecutors maintained that Rocky hit the alleged victim over the head with a green bottle, but no witnesses supported the theory and there was no video evidence. Rocky was seen holding a bottle, but he says he did it in self-defense and put it down on the ground.

Upon his release, Rocky returned to Instagram to thank his supporters. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my fans, friends and anyone across the globe who supported me during these last few weeks,” he wrote. “I cant begin to describe how grateful I am for all of you this has been a very difficult and humbling experience I want to thank the court for allowing me Bladi and Thoto to return to our family and friends thanks again for all of the love and support.”

Friends including Drake, A$AP Ferg, and Jaden Smith celebrated his homecoming. Rocky also FaceTimed Tyler, the Creator and French Montana, who shared screenshots on Instagram. “My boi home home,” said French.

Rocky does not have to appear in court for the verdict, which will be announced on Aug. 14. It will be a written decision.
