New York rapper 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg have a few thoughts on T.I. catching heat last week for admitting he checks his daughter’s hymen annually. The duo went online to weigh-in on the publicized drama.

Last night, Snoop went to Instagram to share a meme going at Tip and sparked a comments section remark by 50 Cent.

Last week, a clip emerged of T.I. admitting he isn’t as upset learning his son might be having sexual relations in comparison to his 18-year-old daughter Deyjah.

“I definitely feel different about a boy than about a girl. That’s just the God’s honest truth. I don’t think there’s any father out there who’ll tell you any different.”

The same week, Tip delivered shocking words on his “Life Hacks With T.I.” podcast when he admitted he went with his daughter to have annual checkups to find out if she’s had sex.

“She’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And yes, not only have we had the [sex] conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen,” T.I. said. “This is what we do: Right after the birthday we celebrate – and usually like the day after the party, she’s enjoying her gifts, I put a sticky note on the door: ‘Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30.’ So we’ll go, you know what I mean, and sit down and the doctor will come and talk and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism. He’s like, ‘You know sir, I have to, in order to share information’ — I’m like … ‘they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you would not want me to know? Oh, OK. See doc? No problem.’” (“Life Hacks With T.I.”)

Almost immediately after the podcast went viral, social media exploded on Tip’s parenting style.

So let’s be clear: This is medical malpractice and child abuse. Misogynistic myths around hymens pop up in lots of cultures, and are used to control girls and women every time — if you haven’t seen Dr Jen Gunter’s Twitter thread today explaining the purpose the hymen actually serves, it’s well worth a read. (I’ll link in my stories.) _ But I think the take away for non-insane parents is: Am I doing enough to teach my daughter that her body belongs only to her? Am I supporting her in setting healthy boundaries — and respecting them myself? _ The doctor’s office can, unfortunately, often be a place where boundaries get crossed, bodies are shamed and consent lines get blurry. Sometimes that’s medically necessary. (Even then, good doctors have strict protocols for ensuring that patients give informed consent for any physically invasive exam or procedure.) Sometimes, it’s not. (Think: Weighing you or commenting on your weight when you can in for a sore throat…) _ Letting kids be in charge of whether they give hugs, whether they eat that bite of broccoli, and what clothes they wear are all small ways you can encourage their body autonomy on a daily basis. In medical settings, make sure doctors and nurses talk directly to your child and ask permission before they touch them, especially if the exam involves sensitive body parts. _ And oh yeah, how about we let 18-year-old women decide for themselves when they’re ready to have sex, and let them go to the gynecologist without bringing their dad along, cool, thanks. _ (If you’ve missed this whole thing about the rapper T.I. and his teenage daughter… feel free to NOT google it because we don’t need to give traffic to tabloids who sensationalize this misogynistic nonsense.) _ #morethanabody #traumainformedcare #patientcenteredcare #bopo #bodypositive #bodyautonomy #ti
