Watch Dave East Freestyle on Funkmaster Flex

Hot off the release of his debut album Survival, Dave East showed out with a fiery freestyle during his visit to Funkmaster Flex.

After paying his respects to Heavy D, the Harlem spitter went off the top, rapping about his mother and father (“Me and my pops ain’t get along”) while reflecting on the past (“Them nights was long / Them jail sentences taught us right from wrong”).

“I’m rapped out,” said East before letting his crew shine, with all three MCs taking turns on the mic.

Survival, which features appearances from Nas, Rick Ross, and Lil Baby, debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 with 24,000 equivalent album units. Dave shared the news while clapping back at his critics, who incorrectly reported that he moved less than 3,000 units.

“Thanks To The Real,” he wrote on Instagram. “All The Fake Blogs And Fake Projections The Frank Stand Is Open 24 Hours A Day And Please Never Reach Out For Another Interview Or Anything Involving Dave East. I’m Cool.”
