Houston rapper Travis Scott is going to level up in a major way next year. The hip-hop superstar has reportedly signed on to perform at Super Bowl LIII.

According to reports, Scott will share the stage alongside rockers Maroon 5 at the NFL championship game’s halftime show.

Travis will join M5 during the halftime show in Atlanta on February 3. It’s arguably the biggest gig in music, with historical performances over the years. It’s a monster move … Travis has the hottest tour going, a huge single with Drake and he’s generating big Grammy buzz. (TMZ)

Recently, reports emerged about R&B diva Rihanna refusing to perform at Super Bowl LIII in support of NFL free agent and Black Lives Matter activist Colin Kaepernick.

“The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” the insider reveals. “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.” Kaepernick, who once admitted to having a crush on Rihanna, was the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem in protest of police brutality and racial inequality. In September, reports emerged about rap star Cardi B possibly wanting her own set at next year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Our sources say Cardi is in negotiations to perform her song with Maroon 5, “Girls Like You” — and the main issue being discussed is whether or not CB gets a solo set. We’re told she’s getting a lot of offers to perform in early February … so she’s trying to make the best deal possible. Super Bowl LIII is being held in Atlanta, and some fans were hoping the NFL would give props to the ATL’s hot music scene. (TMZ)

A few days prior, buzz developed about the NFL possibly targeting Cardi and Travis Scott to pull through as halftime guest performers.

Maroon 5 will be headlining the Super Bowl LIII Halftime show, a source confirms to Billboard. While special guest appearances for the performance have not yet been finalized, Cardi B and Travis Scott are on the short list, Billboard has also learned. A rep for the band declined to comment. In a statement, the NFL said, “It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show. We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.” (Billboard)
