Tomi Lahren Blasts JAY-Z-NFL Partnership

JAY-Z and the NFL are teaming up on a music and social justice campaign, but not everyone is happy about it.

Taking to Twitter, Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren slammed the partnership between the league and JAY-Z’s Roc Nation. “Jay-Z will be consulting with the NFL for the Super Bowl halftime show and other performances because apparently the league doesn’t hate America and law enforcement officers at a level satisfactory enough for the former drug dealer,” tweeted the conservative political commentator.

JAY-Z has criticized the NFL over its treatment of former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He, along with Rihanna, turned down the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show. “I said no to the Super Bowl: You need me, I don’t need you / Every night we in the endzone, tell the NFL we in stadiums to,” he rapped on The Carters’ “APESHIT.”

As part of the NFL deal, JAY-Z and Roc Nation will serve as the league’s “live music entertainment strategists,” consulting on entertainment programs including the halftime show. Additionally, the partnership will support the league’s activism campaign, Inspire Change, which supports criminal justice reform, economic growth opportunities, and educational progress.

“With its global reach, the National Football League has the platform and opportunity to inspire change across the country,” said JAY-Z. “Roc Nation has shown that entertainment and enacting change are not mutually exclusive ideas — instead, we unify them. This partnership is an opportunity to strengthen the fabric of communities across America.”

Lahren frequently speaks out against the hip-hop community. She came under fire over her comments about 21 Savage and his immigration case and has sparred with Cardi B on social media. Most recently, she and Joyner Lucas faced off over his “Devil’s Work” video.

Despite Lahren’s comments, rappers including T.I. have applauded JAY-Z for the NFL partnership.
