T-Boz Hospitalized For Abdominal Blockage, Cancels TLC Show In New York

Music T Boz

Reports have confirmed that T-Boz of the legendary R&B trio TLC was hospitalized due to severe abdominal pain and has been placed in ICU, forcing the group’s New York concert date to be abruptly canceled.

The group was scheduled to perform in Syracuse, NY, on Friday at the New York State Fair. Still, a half hour before showtime, the fair’s X account reported that TLC’s performance had been canceled due to T-Boz “experiencing symptoms related to food poisoning.”

A press statement shared on T-Boz’s Instagram account stated that the 54-year-old singer was experiencing “sudden and severe nausea, vomiting, and intense abdominal cramps.” The statement also said she was seen by a doctor and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

“Last evening, Tionne was diagnosed with a severe abdominal blockage, necessitating the cancellation of both the Syracuse and Foxwoods performances,” read the statement. “She remains in the hospital under medical supervision but is expected to be released tomorrow. The doctor verified that this was not food poisoning, but an abdominal blockage.”

TLC’s management also confirmed that T-Boz had to stay at the hospital overnight and underwent a CT scan to determine the severity of her condition.

TLC is committed to rescheduling the canceled shows and apologizes to all the fans, particularly those who traveled long distances to attend. The group appreciates the understanding and support,” the statement added.

According to their official website, TLC has a full schedule through October, including a concert at the Ravinia in Highland Park, Illinois, on August 31.

In 2017, T-Boz penned a memoir called A Sick Life detailing her health issues with sickle cell disease at the apex of TLC.

TLC Tour Dates Rescheduled Due to T-Boz Suffering Allergic Reaction

TLC Tour Dates Rescheduled Due to T-Boz Suffering Allergic Reaction

TLC’s CrazySexyCool tour was set to hit Texas this past weekend. Unfortunately, the dates were rescheduled after T-Boz suffered an allergic reaction.

TLC and the supporting Bone Thugs-n-Harmony were set for Oct. 2 and 4 in Houston, Texas, but smoke put a halt to their appearances.

TLC has rescheduled the Saturday, October 2nd show at the Smart Financial Center in Houston, TX to Monday, October 4th,” the post read. “Due to extreme cigarette and recreational smoke being present backstage at a previous show, T-Boz suffered an allergic reaction.

“The group has always enforced a strict no smoking policy at their shows in an effort to prevent any health related issues for the group and/or crew.”

[WATCH] T-Boz Says Industry Turned Their Back On TLC, Mentions L.A. Reid, Drake, T.I. and Others

Screen Shot 2020 10 09 at 9.02.21 AM

In an exclusive interview with Hollywood Unlocked, one-third of the legendary R&B trio TLC, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, tells how the music industry completely shunned her and Chilli following the untimely death of TLC frontwoman Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in 2002.

“Honestly, when Lisa died, the whole industry turned on us. Ev-er-y-body,” T-Boz stated three minutes into the interview. “They was like, ‘It’s over for them. They’re never going to do it again.’”

T-Boz then goes on to name several people within the industry that she feels contributed to the blackballing of the group. She name-dropped ATL-based music bigwig L.A. Reid when she mentioned: “all the big execs who we put on the map, made them all kind of millions.”

TLC’s T-Boz is Open to Battling Xscape or SWV

Girl groups were prominent in the late ’90s and early ’00s. TLC, Xscape, and SWV all made groundbreaking contributions to the game that served as the soundtracks of our childhoods.

In light of the Verzuz battle that celebrates the music of iconic artists and songwriters, a fan wrote We NEEED TLC VS SWV OR XSCAPE!!!!! Vs BATTLE!!!” on T-Boz’s recent post. “Tell em,” the singer quipped.

Jill Scott and Erykah Badu were the first women to go head-to-head on the popular Instagram live stream series, and arguably one of the best celebrations.

Male R&B groups, 112 and Jagged Edge, made their debuts on Memorial Day Weekend, making them the first groups to participate. So it’s only right that we celebrate the girl groups next and it looks like one half of TLC is already on board.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland curated the battle series to entertain fans during the quarantine, and admitted that they’ve turned down millions. “Tonight represented the authentic zone of why we didn’t sell 50% of the company for millions of dollars, the authentic zone of why we turned down millions and millions of dollars to the vultures, just wanting to put a name next to name, but no respect for what we do.  We haven’t made one cent off of VERZUZ yet. That don’t mean that we not business, but what we have is something that is, we have a museum. VERZUZ is a museum, it’s an educational, celebrational platform.  What Beanie Man and Bounty Killer did tonight, was iconic. They was just gonna leave Beanie Man, and Bounty Killer on the side of the road, and what did VERZUZ do Tim?”

Jermaine Dupri Regrets Not Introducing TLC to the World: ‘I Was Putting So Much Energy Into Kriss Kross’

Jermaine Dupri is one of the most successful musicians in Hip Hop history. His iconic So So Def record label was home to a number of notable artists like Bow Wow, Xscape, Jagged Edge, Da Brat, and many more. But every successful music story has missed opportunities, and JD shared one that he regrets during a Q&A on Instagram with Black Love.

When asked if Dupri had artists he regretted passing on and his reply may shock some. “I regret not trying to do TLC at the same time as Kris Kross. I was only 19- years old at the time and didn’t believe in myself as a person, as someone having the bandwidth to have both artists. I was putting so much energy into Kriss Kross, and I was only giving TLC maybe 30 to 40 percent, not even 50 percent.”

“I felt I was spreading myself thin by trying to provide both of these groups what they needed to become the success they eventually both grew to become,” Dupri continued. “So I eliminated myself from TLC being a group that I actually introduced to the world.”

The Hip Hop veteran’s ties to the girl group have been documented in the past. The super producer sat down with TV One’s Uncensored and revealed that Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was the inspiration behind Kriss Kross’ whole swag.

TLC was my group before they got signed to La Face,” he previously told Uncensored. “Left Eye was living at my house when I found Kris Kross. The backwards clothes came after we started getting more and more songs… The backwards clothes actually came from being around Left Eye. ‘Cause Left Eye was around here trying to cut her sleeves off of every shirt and she had me—I shaved my whole eyebrow off. I only had one eyebrow and I was walking around doing wild sh*t. I had a nose ring. We was just doing whatever we could do to get somebody’s attention.”
