A New England Patriots radio broadcaster is walking back comments he made about the team’s quarterback being distracted by rap music.

On Thursday, analyst Scott Zolack blamed rap music for Cam Newton‘s lack of focus and criticized him for dancing in between plays.

As reported on the Boston Herald,

“I’d turn off the rap music, first of all, because I think it’s distracting for Cam here,” Zolak said Thursday during his show on The Sports Hub. “Because in between every throw, he’s dancing. He can’t help himself, to where Mac [Jones] looks like he came to work again. Like, he’s here to work. And everything’s attention to detail. It’s nothing different.”

Zolak later described Newton as “jacking around” during practice. His comments went viral on social media Friday, when comparisons were drawn to an old video of Tom Brady dancing to rap music during a Patriots practice, which went without scrutiny.

On Sunday before the Patriots final preseason game against the New York Giants, Zolack apologized for his comments and said he has spoken to Newton about the matter. He added he should not have talked about music because he has no idea what’s going on in a player’s head.

“That’s something I know that’s drawn attention for being racially insensitive. I’m sorry for that comment, I didn’t need to make that comment. I should not even ever bring any sort of music into play, because I have no clue what’s going on in a player’s head,” Zolak stated.

Zolak later added: “I wanted to talk to him before I talked about this, to let him know… and Cam’s nothing but class. Great guy. He handled it perfect.

Tom Brady Moves Past Peyton Manning to Become NFL’s All-Time Leader in Passing Yards

Tom Brady continues to add to his GOAT status. The New England Patriots quarterback shatters records with some regularity nowadays, and he now has another milestone on his resume.

Brady took the top spot on the all-time passing yards list on Sunday, passing  Peyton Manning. Brady passed Manning with 79,280 yards including the playoffs. Brady reached the record in his 301 career games. Manning ended his career after 17 seasons and 293 games.

During the second quarter of the Patriots’ tilt with the New York Jets on Sunday, Brady completed a four-yard pass to Sony Michel on 2nd and 7. Though it seemed simple enough of a play, it actually had some pretty big historical significance.

The Top 4 All-Time (Passing Yards) now reads:

1. Tom Brady (79,280)
2. Peyton Manning (79,279)
3. Drew Brees (77,789)
4. Brett Favre (77,693)

Coming into Sunday, Brady was having another solid year, if not a vintage one, passing for 2,748 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 65.2 percent of his passes.

Brady will almost assuredly add further NFL records to his name before he calls it quits. The 41-year-old is likely more interested in adding to his Super Bowl victories.
