Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir Fire Off $30M Class Action Lawsuit

Kanye West's Sunday Service Choir Fire Off $30M Class Action Lawsuit

Kanye West’s Sunday Service was a cultural reset at a time when his iconic legacy was plagued with controversy and mental health issues. But it looks like he wasn’t taking care of the choir that serenaded the Sunday service goers weekly.

Attorney Frank Kim filed a lawsuit on behalf of 500 performers, meanwhile, entertainment lawyer, Harris & Ruble filed a second lawsuit focusing on at least 300 staff and crew members.

Harris & Ruble allege that the crew members’ issue stems from the rapper’s first opera Nebuchadnezzar, which was held at L.A.’s The Hollywood Bowl in November 2019.

Hundreds of hairstylists, make up artists, and costume designers worked without compensation or were paid late.

One hairstylist, Raina Leon, alleges that it took 120 days for her to receive a $550 payment she was owed and was charged $20 to cash her check.

Michael Pearson, who represents the performers in the class action suit alleges that they worked for two days without meal or rest breaks and were only paid $550 despite working overtime.

Additionally, performers claim that many of them sat on the floor for the 10-hour workdays because there weren’t enough chairs. A shuttle bus drove them from their cars to the venue, however, a roundtrip shuttle wasn’t offered and they had to walk back to their cars.

Lawyers are allegedly looking for more victims to join the lawsuit. “They’ve got hundreds of people on board already, but they’re talking to many, many others, who want to be a part of it. People are very upset about how they were treated, saying it’s their worst experience. People in the lawsuit are asking their friends who’ve worked on previous Sunday Services, and they’re jumping at the chance, they want to get involved and talk about their horrible time.”

Another insider added, “When you do things last minute, it’s disorganized, mistakes will happen. When Kanye West does a production, he just says to his guys: ‘Make it happen,’ he has different teams of people to do things, and when you’re under that amount of pressure, you cut corners. Anything with film or music production, they do the art first, it’s a case of ‘let’s get the production done and worry if it’s legal later.”

They continued, “I’m pretty sure Kanye West hasn’t done anything about paying a bill in 20 years, he’d expect people to take care of it. But Kanye can’t have this go to trial, as the jury may not be Kanye fans and just see a rich rapper ripping off normal folk, he can settle for much less or be hit with a $30 million legal bill.”

News of this class action against Kanye West comes after reports that the Sunday Service was suing him for $1 million in unpaid wages. The mogul is also rumored to be divorcing his wife, Kim Kardashian.

Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir to Sue Rapper for $1 Million for Unpaid Wages

Kanye West's Sunday Service Choir to Sue Rapper for $1 Million for Unpaid Wages

Kanye West’s Sunday Service choir is taking legal action against the rapper for owing overtime compensation for the team that assisted with production for the first-ever event.

The event was produced by Live Nation and took several weeks to plan at the Hollywood Bowl. But there were several last-minute changes due to Ye’s demands and over a dozen workers weren’t paid as a result.

Now, Live Nation and the rapper were hit with a $1 million lawsuit for “failing to provide pay stubs and failing to pay minimum wage and overtime.”

It’s unclear who is behind the lawsuit but a hairstylist admits to receiving payment but being owed overtime and “unpaid wages, continuing wages, damages, civil penalties, statutory penalties and attorney’s fees and costs.”

The lawsuit also claims that Kanye West and Live Nation failed to “properly compensate the hair assistant and many dozens of other persons who performed services on the production, including the background actors, performing as audience members.”

The suit continued saying that the defendants “oversaw, controlled and ran the production, and (…) worked many hours on the production and were not timely paid for their work, or paid at all.”

Kanye West, Tyler Perry & Mariah Carey Will Join Joel Osteen’s Easter Sunday Service

Due to the coronavirus global pandemic, Easter Sunday Service isn’t going to be quite the same, but that isn’t going to stop Joel Osteen from putting on a star-studded event for his faithful flock.

TMZ is exclusively reporting that Osteen will be holding a big Easter Sunday event to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, and reportedly his buddy Kanye West, Tyler Perry, and Mariah Carey are on-board with the idea. Osteen says that MC is a good friend and reached out to him and wants to do a special tribute to healthcare workers on the frontlines. We can already guess what song she would sing *coughs* “Hero.”

When it comes to Kanye, Osteen states he has no idea what Mr.West and his choir will do, but he does know social distancing will be practiced for MAGA Ye’s performance so it will be a sight to see.

As far as what Tyler Perry will do, Osteen says he reached out to the “friend of the megachurch” and “powerful speaker” and that Perry will “deliver a specific message” to the virtual attendees. Speaking of online services, Osteen has been listening to the government as well as the big man in the sky and delivering the good word to church-goers online for several weeks.

When asked about other bonehead preachers still holding church services defying social distancing orders because the “blood of Jesus” will protect them, Osteen didn’t admonish them but did give his own reasoning the celebrity gossip site reports.

Joel Olsteen to Host Virtual Easter Sunday Service With Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Tyler Perry

Joel Olsteen is trying his best to bring holiday cheer this Easter weekend while practicing social distancing in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The renowned pastor and televangelist joined forces with Kanye West to bring a virtual Sunday Service. Olsteen doesn’t have too many details on the surprise (of course) but Ye confirmed that he and his choir would be practicing social distancing.

Mariah Carey would reportedly sing “Hero” via webcam as a tribute to “medical professionals and first responders putting their lives on the line in the battle against COVID-19,” as per the official website.

Tyler Perry plans to “deliver words of encouragement” during these dark times.

West and Joel Olsteen planned to link up for a Sunday Service at the Yankee Stadium in May. But we’re just hoping to be allowed outside and somewhat revert back to our “normal” lives at this point.

Kanye West Performs Sunday Service in Chicago

Over the weekend, Kanye West has done some incredible things for his city. Free pair of Yeezys were passed out in the street and he closed the weekend by getting the Sunday Service choir together on Sunday afternoon.

The choir performed a plethora of melodies of hits we are familiar with. It was the choir’s second time performing in the Windy City. Ye had tweeted out that he will be at the University of Illinois Chicago’s Credit Union 1 Arena. It didn’t take long for the tickets to sell out.

The attendees, who had attended the show, loved every bit of it. If it is something like the release on Christmas Day, then we would love it. Take a glimpse of the service below.

If you need a sprinkle of Jesus to go along with your NBA All-Star 2020 fun, don’t worry, Kanye West got you.

The “born again” rapper announced himself and his traveling choir will be in Chicago when the 69th NBA All-Star Game returns to Yeezy’s hometown for the first time in over three decades. West hit his Twitter account last night to announce that he will be holding a special Sunday Service in Illinois.

The “gospel concert” will take place at Chicago’s Credit Union 1 Arena on February 16 from 2 p.m. (CST). If you are looking to attend, your gonna need Jesus like abilities to turn an inanimate object into a ticket cause it is already sold out. If you’re that desperate to hear Kanye put a gospel spin on your favorite hit records, you could probably find a ticket on a resale site like Stubhub.

This upcoming edition of Sunday Service isn’t the first time Christian Genius Billionaire took his show on the road during a big sporting event. Just recently, Kanye and his singing flock stopped in Miami during Super Bowl weekend and even squeezed in a special tribute for the late Kobe Bryant.

Kanye bringing Sunday Service to events like All-Star Weekend and the Super Bowl strongly hint at him taking his act around the globe as previously rumored. West is even supposed to join televangelist Joel Osteen at Yankee Stadium later in the year for his “Night of Hope” event, which could have driven up the prices of the usually $15 a ticket gathering of prayer and celebration.

Kanye West Celebrates One Year of His Sunday Service

By: Amira Lawson

This Sunday marks a full year since Chicago rapper, Kanye West debuted his highly praised, Sunday Service. He decided to celebrate the anniversary of his program, by taking his gospel to Los Angeles’ Skid Row.

“A lot of times people say, ‘Thank you, Ye, for Sunday service.’ I say thank God, this thing saved my life. This thing was an alternative to Opioids. This thing was an alternative to pornography,” he said in his speech as the audience cheered.

In his speech, Kanye addressed the trouble of standing in opposition to what he’s generally energetic about when his words are taken out of context. He would even imply the contention encompassing T.I’s. disclosure of taking his daughter Deja Harris, to the gynecologist for a yearly check to ensure that she is as yet a virgin. “They tried to play T.I., but he’s talking about something that’s God-approved. It’s 30 states that still got the death penalty. Thou shalt not kill. But, we be cool with that,” he stated.

Kanye then went to speak on the homeless epidemic
in Los Angeles, encouraging those in attendance to participate in finding a
solution. “Today marks one year of Sunday Service. I definitely saw a strong compelling
vision with the homeless, and I know that we can find a solution, a worldwide
solution.” he began. “This is what we need to be talking about. These
solutions,” the rapper continued.
