Pop Smoke’s Manager Vows to Change Artwork Following Negative Feedback: ‘POP WOULD LISTEN TO HIS FANS’

Pop Smoke's Manager Vows to Change Artwork Following Negative Feedback: 'POP WOULD LISTEN TO HIS FANS'

Pop Smoke’s fans woo’d, and his manager, Steven Victor, woo’d back.

The unveiling of the artwork was met with negative feedback. “Virgil put about Virgil percent effort designing this smh,” one Twitter user wrote.

A petition created by Brooklyn party promoter, Scrillz, has over 8,000 supporters urging for the cover art to be changed. Steven must’ve caught wind of the uproar because shortly after he tweeted, “MAKING A CHANGE,” in a series of tweets.

“POP WOULD LISTEN TO HIS FANS,” the Victor Victor head honcho reassured. He continued, “as pop’s label & as his friends/family, it is our obligation to bring his vision to life he wanted virgil to lead creative, we fulfilled his wishes however, unfortunately, he’s not here to give his final approval his fans, are.”

“you know why you love pop your voices are loud and clear he loved his fans and listened to his fans pop and we at victor victor h e a r d you l o u d and clear – changes will be made see you July 3rd 2020,” Steven wrote.

A lot of people don’t want to give Virgil Abloh a second chance to fix the problem, but as Steven previously stated, Virgil’s creative direction was apart of Pop’s wishes. “you were always shootings for the stars and aiming for the moon. everything we talked about is happening, the only thing is you’re not here in the flesh to see it all come together. you wanted Virgil to design your album cover and lead creative.. Virgil designed the album cover and led creative.. we love you and miss you more and more each day,” he wrote.

Many looked to Pop Smoke to be the next rising star in New York Hip-Hop while leading the Brooklyn Drill movement. Following his shocking death, 50 Cent announced that he would work to complete Pop Smoke’s first posthumous album, calling on Roddy Ricch, Drake, Chris Brown and more to be apart of it. There is no word whether or not Victor and Pop’s family will work with 50 to honor his commitment just yet. Pop Smoke looked at the G-Unit CEO as a mentor. Fif spoke of the fallen rapper in a positive light as well.

Steven Victor took to his Instagram story to share a post from a Pop Smoke fan page. According to the post, his Pop’s first posthumous song will come on Friday.

Pusha-T Salutes The “Shot Caller + Play Maker Of” His Music Career: “It’s Only Right You Drown In Success”

Pusha T

G.O.O.D. Music president Pusha-T wants people to know just how much of a role Universal Music Group executive Steven Victor means to him. King Push went to social media this week to put a major co-sign on his name.

On Friday, King Push credited Victor for guiding his music career and acknowledged his birthday.

Last month, Victor left his position at Def Jam to take on a big role at Universal Music Group.

Steven Victor, who was named Def Jam’s executive VP of A&R in October of 2017, has left the company to shift to a senior VP of A&R role at Universal Music Group, Def Jam’s parent company, that will see him focusing on his joint venture with UMG, Victor Victor Worldwide. That company, which  has eight employees in New York and Los Angeles and divisions including a label, publishing and management, and he will also continue to work the acts he signed to Def Jam. Victor Victor management clients include Pusha T and The-Dream, and publishing clients include YoungKio, a producer of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.” (Variety)

Pusha and Steven’s business relationship dates back to 2004.

That marked the beginning of a long and fruitful working relationship between the two men — one in which Pusha went from Clipse MC to solo artist to G.O.O.D. Music label president, and Victor rose from publicist to artist manager to executive vp/head of A&R for Def Jam Recordings. Along the way, their dedication to and belief in each other through rocky times led them to the heights of the music business, forging the type of mutually beneficial relationship that is invaluable for someone attempting to scale the slippery rungs of show business. (Billboard)

A few days ago, Push blessed fans with his new “Sociopath” single.
