Lecrae Launches Hip-Hop Convict Contest & Financial Literacy Web Series

cf

Lecrae continues to expand his palette of endeavors.

The Houston native recently announced several new ventures that are set to launch this Fall.

Lecrae took the initiative to start his own media production company after many film offerings.

In one of its first partnerships with Experian, he hosts a new 6-part web series entitled “Protect The Bag.”

“I wanted to take the knowledge that I’ve gained, in addition to the experts from Experian and put everything together,” said Lecrae.

Lecrae also mentions his experience with educating his artists as well.

“I have nine artists on my record label, says the Grammy winner. “I had to walk them into banks and teach them how to do so many things. We’ve also held workshops for them, which sparked the idea of how many more people we can help.”

Each episode will cover a key point of building a financial legacy including, but not limited to, budgeting, identity protection, investing, and more.

To deliver the content, he is blending “Dave Chapelle and The Tonight Show” with relatable sketches for its audience.

Viewers can expect “Protect The Bag” to debut later this Fall on Lecrae’s YouTube channel.

In addition to teaching financial literacy, Lecrae will host the first Hip-Hop contest for those behind bars. In a joint effort with Aventiv Technologies, the incarcerated individuals will submit a track over one of three beats by Grammy-winning producer, Zaytoven.

The students of Morris Brown College will choose the top 25 finalists. From there, Lecrae will choose the winner, whose song will be recorded, mastered, and released.

All proceeds generated from the contest will go towards reform support for the corrections community.

Lecrae Installs Portable Handwashing Stations for Atlanta’s Homeless Amid the Coronavirus

While people across the country are taking shelter in their homes and stocking up on hand sanitizer and handsoap, the homeless in this country are faced with no adequate shelter or any adequate way of sanitization, making themselves more susceptible to catching the virus.

Rapper Lecrae has taken it upon himself to help the homeless in Atlanta. The Christian rapper has partnered up with the non-profit organization Love Beyond Walls in an effort to provide better hygiene to Atlanta’s homeless by installing portable handwashing stations across the city.

The installations began on Thursday (March 19) and each station holds five gallons of water and has a soap dispenser connected to it.

In a statement to Channel 2 News in Atlanta, Lecrae stated that “When the pandemic hit, I thought, ‘What is the homeless community doing about these warnings. We spent a good amount of time putting them around Hurt Park. It’s a major city and in a major city, like this, it speaks very loud. The love is loud, appreciation is loud, but the problems are loud as well. The city has shown me so much love, so I wanted to be sure to show it back.”

As well as setting up handwashing stations across the city, Lecrae handed out food to the homeless as well.

“It’s a major city and in a major city, like this, it speaks very loud. The love is loud, appreciation is loud, but the problems are loud as well,” Lecrae said. “The city has shown me so much love, so I wanted to be sure to show it back.”

Lecrae Helps Tackle Coronavirus Spread In Atlanta W/ Genius Idea

Lecrae Approved Selfie Pic

Southern hip-hop artist Lecrae is going all-out to help folks in Atlanta. The award-winning rapper has partnered with an organization to plant portable hand washing stations throughout A-Town.

Big Facts

According to reports, Lecrae linked up with community organization Love Beyond Walls. Beginning Thursday (March 19) at 10 AM at Love Beyond Wall’s center, the Houston-born rap artist will volunteer to assemble mobile sinks.

Lecrae will join the Love Beyond Walls team at 10am to begin assembling the sinks after which they will be filled with water, loaded on trucks, and distributed to key locations frequented by the homeless in the Atlanta Metro Area. The initiative was developed by Terence Lester, executive director of Love Beyond Walls, an organization whose mission is to “restore dignity to the homeless and poor by providing a voice, visibility, shelter, community, and grooming and support services to achieve self-sufficiency.” Lester who was once counted amongst Atlanta’s homeless is now founder of Love Beyond Walls and is pursuing his PH.D. in Public Policy & Social Change. “We’re excited to have Lecrae be involved with our work at Love Beyond Walls because he understands the importance of restoring the community and affirming the dignity of those who are unseen.”

High-Key Details

Lecrae has since issued a statement on the situation. He also weighed-in on the spread of COVID-19 and his intent on helping people in need during this nationwide crisis.

“I’ve been following Covid19 quite intently since it’s become a pandemic and first and foremost, I want to remind people THIS IS NOT THE END!” shares Lecrae“While we can heed The Center For Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation to stay away from others who are sick, avoid crowds, and properly wash our hands, I can’t help but think about those living on the street who have no way to bathe or wash their hands. People who may eat, sleep, and congregate so close to each other that social distancing is not possible. Partnering with Love Beyond Walls is my way of doing what Jesus did which is serve humanity. I’m humbled to support the work of organizations like Love Beyond Walls who help, serve, bring light, love, peace, and restoration every day.” (Statement)

Lecrae’s “Get Back Right” Selected for NFL’s Song of the Season Series

Lecrae is the latest artist selected for the NFL Song of the Season series, a campaign launched by the NFL Inspire Change initiative. The hip-hop artist’s “Get Back Right” is the third song selected for the program.

“Get back Right” can be found on his Let the Trap Say Amen album, which he worked on in collaboration with Atlanta super producer Zaytoven. The song will be heard throughout the playoffs and broadcast on several telecasts.

“Throughout my entire career, I have always hoped that my music would inspire and uplift,” Lecrae said. “It is an amazing honor to partner with the NFL and its Inspire Change initiative to combine our platforms to change the communities we call home.”

Songs of the Season highlighted stars and emerging artists of all genres throughout the season. The songs are released on digital streaming providers and all revenue generated from Songs of the Season goes toward the Inspire Change grant recipients selected as a part of the NFL’s social justice initiative.

“The ‘Songs of the Season’ initiative is just one of the ways we shine a light on the great work NFL players and clubs continue to do as it relates to social justice,” said ANNA ISAACSON, NFL Senior Vice President of Social Responsibility. “An award-winning musician and adamant social justice supporter such as Lecrae is a perfect pairing for ‘Songs of the Season’ and will help amplify the great work being done in our communities.”

Lecrae is currently at work on his ninth studio album, Restoration, and writing a new book I Am Restored.
