George Floyd and Derek Chauvin Had History of Tension According to Their Former Co-Worker

George Floyd and his murderer, Derek Chauvin had prior history while working together at a nightclub in Minneapolis, MN. According to a former co-worker of the two, they often “bumped heads,” years before Chauvin’s brutal assault against Floyd. David Penny sat down with CBS News to break his silencing on the Chauvin’s and Floyd’s history as co-workers.

According to Penny, the tension had “a lot to do with Derek being extremely aggressive within the club with some of the patrons, which was an issue.”

Because of Floyd’s and Chauvin’s history, the Floyd family feel as if the former officer had a personal vendetta against Floyd. Penny also added that Chauvin knew Floyd “pretty well.”

CBS News also sat down with the owner of the club, where Floyd and Chauvin worked. According to Maya Santamaria, she highlighted how former Minneapolis officer treated black patrons at the nightclub. When Santamaria was asked if Derek (Chauvin) had a problem with Black people, she responded, “I think he was afraid and intimidated.”

The CBS reporter asked again for confirmation. Santamaria sternly and confidently verified her previous statement.

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was initially charged with 3rd-degree murder but was later altered to 2nd degree. Penny and Santamaria’s recent statement can be used as evidence of premeditated first-degree murder. The Floyd family attorney, Benjamin Crump, has also pushed for upgraded charges after learning about Floyd and Chauvin’s history.

Virgil Abloh Catches Heat For $50 Donation to Bail Funds for George Floyd Protestors

Virgil Abloh Clarifies Looting Remarks, $50 Donation

Virgil Abloh is not a fan favorite at the moment.

The unjust murder of George Floyd has sent the country in an uproar. People are demanding action from their favorite influencers and celebrities at this time. If they’re reaction or response is unsatisfactory, rest assured that Twitter will not let you hear the end of it.

Earlier today, Off-White CEO and Louis Vuitton’s artistic director, Virgil Abloh posted a donation to help bail out arrested protestors. While the gestures were grand, people are disgusted with Abloh’s donated amount of $50.

Many shed light on the fact that his donation did not equate to the price of any OFF-WHITE product.

Both Off-White and Louis Vuitton are two of the most recognized brands in fashion. Both brands operate in an elite fashion to where Virgil is applauded and supported by Black Culture for his work through those brands. Those same supporters are disappointed. There is little to no attire you can buy from Off-White for $50.

The 39-year-old designer responded with a post and delete. The people are calling for Abloh to own up to his donation, or respond with more context.

Abloh took to his IG story to speak on vandalism and looting that took place in his hometown of Chicago.

“Today that same community robbed us again. again if it heals your pains you can have it.”

Virgil and Just Don CEO, Don C are owners of RSVP Gallery in Chicago. The store was looted and vandalized as a result of the boiling anger of protestors. Abloh was also criticized for his vandalism statement. Designer Marc Jacobs had opposing views to Abloh.

“Property can be replaced, humans lives CANNOT,” stated Jacobs.

Charlamagne Tha God Calls Non-Peaceful Protest in Response to George Floyd’s Murder ‘America’s Karma’

Charlamagne Tha God has never shied away from telling the truth or speaking his opinion. For that, we appreciate him as an essential voice in the culture. The NY Times best-selling author made an appearance on ESPN’s First Take Monday morning. Charla spoke to the country’s current climate, following the horrific murder of George Floyd.

“This is what happens when a country promises liberty and justice for all, but only gives you liberty and justice for white folks.”

The Breakfast Club radio host goes on to speak to the history of America. The marginalization and systemic oppression of African Americans within this has plagued its progression.

“Ain’t no good going to come to America until they do right by Black folks.”

In 2020, we continue to bear the same burden of fallen ancestors who died for our civil liberties today.

“All this country needed was a reason and American has given Black people 400 plus years of reasons to go crazy,” said Charlamagne. “I’m actually shocked that we didn’t snap a long time ago.”

On Friday, former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin was charged with manslaughter and third-degree murder.

Stephen A. Smith spoke to this matter as well saying 2nd degree is the appropriate charge former officer Chauvin. Smith added that the other officers who stood dormant and watch the death of George Floyd should be charged with murder as well.

Pride and Peace: Newark, NJ Stages Powerful Protest For George Floyd Led by Mayor Ras Baraka

The City of Newark, NJ showed up and showed out this past weekend for George Floyd. Following the atrocious murder of yet another unarmed Black man at the hands of police, cities across The United States have taken action to express their anger and agony. Demonstrations dominate our social media timelines and news cycles. While comprehensible acts of arson and looting permeate cities across America, Newark, NJ took center stage.

Led by Mayor Ras Baraka and the People’s Organization For Progress, New Jersey’s largest metropolis staged a peaceful and unified demonstration this past weekend. Thousands of New Jerseyans from far and near gathered Downtown Newark to echo the pain felt across this nation, but Newark natives and city leaders set the tone.

“We have to speak against the barbaric and inhumane, outright sickness that took place in Minneapolis, Minnesota, it is our job to do so,” exclaimed Mayor Baraka.

In one instance, an unidentified man and non-Newark native carried a bat in an attempt to destroy property. The man was quickly stopped and disarmed by Newark residents, demonstrating pride in protection for the city.

The exemplary act of pride and protection is rooted in Mayor Baraka’s opening message prior to Saturday’s peaceful protest.

“Newark has been here before.”

More than 50 years ago, Newark experience the riots in 1967. These riots were ignited by the brutal beating of an unarmed Black cab driver at the hands of two white police officers, in addition to many instances of racial profiling and systemic racism within the city.

As you can see, not much has changed throughout this country, but we continue to fight. While we fight, we do so in solidarity.
