The YSL trial’s court proceedings were a bit alarming on Wednesday when someone began screaming behind chamber doors during recess, disturbing those inside the courtroom.

According to WSB-TV, Young Thug was sitting in the middle of the courtroom at a table as the event unfolded. Three people were handcuffed in the courtroom.

Officers cleared the courtroom, later revealing defendant Rodalius Ryan, aka Lil Rod, was escorted out, and he began screaming from a holding cell. Defendants Christian Eppinger and Coradrius Dorsey then yelled to let him out of the cell.

“All of a sudden they take Mr. Ryan, the young child, I mean, he’s a kid, they take him to the back, and we can hear him screaming,” an Dorsey’s attorney told journalist Mark Winne. “We can hear him in the courtroom yelling for help. And we’re all confused.”

A jury has still not been selected.

Jury Selection Complete in R. Kelly’s Federal Sex Trafficking Trial

R. Kelly trial courtroom

The jury selection is now complete for R. Kelly’s upcoming sex trafficking trial

CNN reports, Seven men and five women were sworn in by US District Judge Ann Donnelly in Brooklyn this week. The judge sought assurance from each juror that they would remain impartial despite all the publicity surrounding the case.

The 54-year-old R&B musician faces a series of sex abuse charges in several states. Robert Kelly has maintained his innocence and has pled not guilty to all of them. Including racketeering charges based on alleged acts including sexual exploitation of children, kidnapping, forced labor and sex trafficking.

“Prosecutors allege Kelly was the leader of a criminal enterprise made up of associates who promoted R. Kelly’s music and his brand “to recruit women and girls to engage in illegal sexual activity” with the singer, according to an indictment filed by prosecutors. The filing states that people who served as managers, bodyguards, drivers, personal assistants and members of his entourage were part of his criminal enterprise.”

According to a court filing prosecutors also claim that Kelly abused a boy who was under 18 in 2006. Allegedly the “Trapped In The Closet” singer met an unidentified 17 year-old boy at a McDonald’s in Chicago. He then invited him to his recording studio to mentor him in the music business. Allegedly Robert Kelly then asked him “what he was willing to do to succeed in the music business?” Claiming Kelly had sexual contact with the child. Prosecutors stated at a hearing on last Tuesday that the victim is expected to testify.

This will be the Chicago natives second trial, after he was acquitted in 2008 of child pornography charges.

Opening statements are scheduled to start next Wednesday, August 18.

The federal trial is expected to last between six and eight weeks.

R. Kelly Trial Changes, Media and Public Excluded From Courtroom

R. Kelly trial courtroom

Attorneys are hoping to wrap up jury selection in R. Kelly’s New York Trial this morning.

The 54 year-old musician faces federal charges over recruiting women and underage girls for sex. Public Information Officer, John Marzulli, says 18 prospective jurors were excused for cause and roughly seven people didn’t show up for the R. Kelly trial.

With jury selection underway, those selected are expected to appear in person. A US district judge said last week that witnesses will testify from the jury box and jurors will be spread out in the gallery to allow for social distancing, as COVID cases surge in New York City.

There are currently two-dozen jurors who potentially could be picked for trial, with Marzulli saying the decision could bleed into Wednesday.

In an unusual move, members of the media and the public will not be allowed inside the Brooklyn court room.

A video feed of the R. Kelly trial will be accessible in a separate room. While jurors will be required to wear masks, they will not be asked about their vaccine status.

R. Kelly has remained in jail since he was indicted in 2019.

The opening statements are expected to begin next week. The trial is expected to last a month or more.
