22gz Takes The Stage at Historic Pyer Moss Couture Show

22gz represented for the Brooklyn Drill genre at the Pyer Moss couture show over the weekend.

22gz rocked custom Pyer Moss while performing a slew of hits including “Twirlanta,” “Sniper Gang,” and “Suburban.”

Kerby Jean-Raymond became the first Black-American designer to show at Paris Fashion Week. The designer celebrated Black innovation by showcasing wearable sculptures from the air conditioner to the Super Soaker.

“These are inventions by Black people and I wanted to reintroduce them to Black people, reverse the erasure that may exist — and to troll a little bit, too,” he told Vogue.

But 22gz’s performance and Kerby’s debut weren’t the only examples of Black excellence during this show.

The event was live-streamed at Villa Lewaro, the Hudson River estate built by entrepreneur and philanthropist Madam C.J. Walker.

The mansion, which stands tall on 3-acres, was built by the first African-American architect registered in New York, Vertner Tandy. It took about two years to construct and cost $250,000.

The property was used as a conference center for race relations during the Harlem Renaissance, and the likes of W.E.B Dubois and Langston Hughes were a part of some of these meetings.

Walker died in her home and her daughter A’Leila Walker inherited the home until she passed away in 1931. She left it to the NAACP who was in the midst of financial troubles at the time, and the property ultimately belongs to the New Voices Foundation.

London Producer JB Made It Says Drake Placement Changed His Life

JB. Made. It. Literally.

Brooklyn Drill has emerged as the new dominant force in New York Rap thanks to London producers, AXL Beats, and JB Made It. While this is true for JB, success did not come easy.

The Finesse Foreva Creative Director, born Jonathan Menseh, describes his life before “Demons” as bittersweet because he was working on music to help support his family, including six siblings, but was yet to see the fruits of his labor.

“I was at a really low place,” says the South-London producer. “They were trying to repossess my car because I couldn’t keep up with the payments. I was in super debt with no real way of getting out.”

In the midst of “hitting rock bottom,” he was booked for a session in the Big Apple. Initially, JB was reluctant. After speaking with a close friend, he was convinced that the trip would not be a waste. And his leap of faith would pay off. JB would play a number of tracks in the session, but there was one in particular that caught everyone’s ear. Minutes later he was notified by his manager of a Drake shoutout. From that moment, his life would change for the better. JB received confirmation of his Dark Lane Demo Tapes placement only two weeks prior to its release.

Following his return to London from NY, Mensah connected with French Montana for “That’s A Fact” through a mutual friend, landing another huge placement. Talk about a 360 degree turn around.

In this day and age, the Drake co-sign is similar to a golden ticket. It has been a catalyst for success for a number of artists. Just ask Lil Baby, Migos, Summer Walker, and Tay Keith, to name a few. Now you can add JB Made It to that list.

Fivio Foreign Calls Out French Montana For Unpaid Homage to Brooklyn Drill

French Montana is not a fan favorite right now. Fivio Foreign is the latest to call out the “No Stylist” rapper. Last week, French told the world he has more hits than Kendrick Lamar. As one can expect, that sent social media into a frenzy. Although it sparked conversation, the survey says the 13-time Grammy award-winning rapper clearly has more hits. Young Thug weighed in on the bold statement, which ignited a small beef between the two rappers

French Montana recently released his new song, “That’s A Fact.” The Brooklyn Drill influenced track ignited a Tik Tok challenged, which was spearheaded by BK rapper, Mr. Swipey.

Fivio Foreign did not take that lightly. He felt as if French only used Mr. Swipey as a backup dancer to pay homage to the emerging BK sound, rather than doing a song with him.

“I’m a brand new artist so I’m not really that in a position to be puttin’ n***as in good positions yet,” says the “Big Drip” rapper. “I’m talkin’ ’bout French Montana, n***a. French Montana wildin’, n***a. He wildin’, n***a. He gon’ have Swipey dancin’ and spinnin’ in every video like he some type of back-up dancer, n***a. Ain’t no back-up dancer for you, n***a. You ain’t ’bout to use drill beats and have n***as spinning.”

Fivio isn’t jacking how French Montana is moving. He references Drake and Meek Mill’s effort to pay homage by doing songs with young artists leading the BK drill wave.

Mr. Swipey made another appearance on the “Unforgettable” rapper’s Instagram video, where he previewed a new song with Jim Jones. Apparently, Mr. Swipey is the newest member of The Coke Boy family. According to Fivio that’s neither here nor there. He says French Montana is “No Good.”

Fivio Foreign’s ‘Wetty’ Visuals Are Finally Here

Fivio Foreign finally released the visuals for his highly-anticipated track, “Wetty” and it’s a movie! Bow!

The rising Brooklyn Drill artist had a very successful Summer and he’s trying to keep the momentum going with the new AXL Beats-produced record.

The suspenseful video kicks off with Fivio robbing going to rob a deli, but there was already a “wetty” inside of there who beat him to the punch. Instead of tripping, he joined her and they completed the robbery together.

Fivio Foreign has been relentlessly teasing this song with Tik Tok videos for weeks. His most recent teaser of the song featured Lil Kim which leaves us to wonder if the two Brooklyn rappers are joining forces on a track one day?

Check out the “Wetty” video above and let us know what you think.
