Kanye West Donates Over $100K to Chicago Mayoral Candidate

Kanye West is “distancing” himself from politics, but maybe he means from speaking on them? Not too long ago Ye donated over $73,000 to pay a debt to the Illinois State Board of Elections on behalf of Chicago Mayoral Candidate Amara Enyia, now he has donated an additional $126,460.

NBC Chicago reports records from the Illinois State Board of Elections to show the donation from Yeezy to Enyia, the candidate endorsed by Chance the Rapper last month. Recently, Chance and Enyia have done “pull up” campaigns across the city of Chicago, with Kanye appearing at one, silently was held on 63rd street in the city.

The initial donation was the exact amount to cover fines from not closing her campaign account after her first bid for mayor during the last campaign. A statement was issued regarding that donation.

“The $73,540 debt to the Illinois State Board of Elections has been paid in full. The Amara Enyia campaign thanks Chicago native, Kanye West, for his generous action.”

Kanye West Donates $73K to Amara Enyia’s Chicago Mayoral Campaign

Needless to say, Kanye West has been making tons of headlines lately, but you might not roll your eyes at this one.

Ye donated $73,540 to Amara Enyia’s Chicago mayoral campaign. Enyia, who is also endorsed by Chance The Rapper never closed her campaign account following her withdrawal from the 2015 election, which prompted her to get fined.

After the Illinois State Board of Elections fined Enyia for “failing to properly file quarterly finance reports in connection with her 2015 campaign for mayor,” Ye decided to step in and offer a helping hand.

It was dope for Kanye West to ensure that this woman had a fair shot in the election, however, this comes after his meeting with Donald Trump where he compared the MAGA hat to a superhero cape, and said racism is an “invisible wall.”

Yeezy was in Uganda as of lately chipping away at his forthcoming effort, Yhandi, which is slate to release on Black Friday.

Chance the Rapper Announces Endorsement of Amara Enyia for Chicago’s Mayor

When Chance the Rapper revealed an event for a mayoral announcement in Chicago many immediately looked toward a declaration that he would run for mayor. Instead, Chance revealed that he is endorsing Amara Enyia.

Enyia is the director of the Austin Chamber of Commerce and was on hand with Chance at City Hall to accept the endorsement. Online, Amara’s stance reads as wanting to further the city under the belief of “All people. All Voices. One City.”

“Right now, Chicago exists as two cities – one in which families are being displaced from the neighborhoods they have called home for generations, community schools are under-resourced and shuttered, leaving some families with few, if any, quality school options,” Enyia shares in an online statement.
